Goat Toy Day 27
15We’ve done metal, so it must be time to do wood.
UGears makes amazing wood models. The Grand Prix car above is on the complex end of their range, but they also make simple kits. As you can see from the video, even the pistons & valves move. (Don’t ask why there’s no cylinder head.)
Ugears is Ukrainian company, and the kits are made out of laser cut plywood. They go together without glue, and you’ll want some basic hand tools like pliers and and a hobby knife. A small file is probably a good idea too. They give parts counts and assembly time estimates for their kits.
Here’s some of the small kits.
The big car is $45 on Amazon, the set of four little ones is $11.
There are all sorts of kits, and not just vehicles.
A mechanical flower.
A card holder.
A treasure box.
A horse.
I think if you get the aviator kit the mustache and outfit are probably required. The scarf is a must!
Spend some time browsing their site, and you’ll probably find something that intrigues you.

I’ve come across some other companies, but I don’t have any first hand experience with them.
ROKR has several models, and there are other product lines too.

YES! I love love love these wooden creations!
Marbleocity makes a couple different marble tracks you can link together (Dragon Coaster and Skate Park kits) into one larger track.
Ugears highlights.
@blaineg While in Geneva recently we wandered into an amazing toy store (Franz Carl Weber) and I ran across a display of UGears. They really intrigued me. I was tempted to buy the flower for my mother since it has a ballerina in the center. She was a professional dancer and owns a dancewear company (PrimaSoft). As everything seems to be in Switzerland, they were rather pricey so I did a quick check online and found I could buy them for about half the price elsewhere. Which I never got around to doing…
@cinoclav My brother found the Feel Flux gravity defying toy in a shop in Geneva, I wonder if it was the same shop?
@blaineg I’d almost guarantee it. Considering most of the shops were jewelry or chocolate, those selling unique toys were pretty limited.
Very cool, but the “treasure box” looks a lot like the air conditioning unit in my backyard.
@Fuzzalini It’s a multipurpose kit!
