I told a friend about PastaDrop a few weeks ago. He laughed and said I better not try that on him. I said of course not, and we haven’t spoken about it since.
I totally just dropped 4 different pastas on one unsuspecting friend. She better make me some noods when I drop by!! Can you imagine getting 400lbs of pasta, I would probably pee myself laughing.
@OnionSoup haha! I wouldnt be able to tell her it was me at that point. As it is, she will likely try to send me home with noods not knowing i dropped myself for donation pasta twice.
@Karpadm76 my mother got 200 lbs. I nearly peed my pants laughing. She had to go around the back of our rural post office. The postal worker was not amused poor guy. She got 160 lbs one day and then when she went back the next day, she got another 40 more. I have laughed myself stupid over this.
@OnionSoup I make lots and lots of Mac and Cheese and Macaroni Salad, so does my entire family. Would easily send an order to myself, my mother, and my grandmother.
i sent a pastadrop to my sister in law.
100 pounds of lovely spaghetti…
i got a text from her “have you heard of this company called pastadrop?” i responded , and she asked if i sent it. (we’d addressed it to their dog, from our dog.)
“is there a note in the box?”
no, they didn’t see a note–they
REFUSED THE PACKAGE.
THEY REFUSED THE PACKAGE.
apparently, they’re involved in a dispute with some shipping company, they were very suspicious (???) and and…REFUSED the package. seriously. sent it back.
i’m totally bummed.
no idea what happens next. i’d be happy to donate the pasta, or to have the pasta (we only got 10 pounds on our penne drop) but we’re on the other side of the country and obviously don’t expect meh to ship it to us after this. i’m very disappointed. luckily, we sent some to other friends. hopefully they’ll enjoy theirs, and not send it back. sigh.
100 lbs of Penne Rigate just arrived at my friend’s house today! She’s baffled- I’m not sure how to reveal myself yet. But I guess if she reads this board she can discover it here. If you’re reading this, Amanda, it was me, I’m so sorry to have cursed you!
Love,
The Chupapasta
@binkybear Just luck of the draw. If someone gets 40 or 100 lbs, someone else got shorted. That just happened to be you this time. Know that you helped make someone else enjoy a bounty of pasta. Not everyone gets to be a winner.
@mike808 very true. My drop was when it was a complete unknown how much pasta you would get, I figured it was just a glitch in the system. Since 20 lb boxes were on the other mediocre sites, I figured they were selling the same boxes. If I had known it was even a possibility that it was a crushed10 lb, I would have passed. That’s what happens when you make an assumption, so my fault, no biggie.
I’m waiting on one item each from Mediocritee, MorningSave so that accounts for 2 boxes.
That leaves 6 in shipment. Surely not 6 boxes of Penne? Has anyone received over 100lbs yet? Lol… I’m flabbergasted. My wife is going to kill me. She was mildly bemused at 40lbs but I think this may be the end of me.
I’m guessing I hit the jackpot and my wife is getting 100lbs of Penne. 5 boxes not 6… So what is the mysterious extra box. A Spaghettini straggler?
Anyone else with a mysterious extra box? Are they sending out random extras?
The only other explanation would be one box is SideDeals but that isn’t showing as shipped yet. It wouldn’t show up on Informed delivery before it ships would it?
Maybe I can get my wife to trade some Penne with the victim I sent Spaghetti to if they get extra spaghetti.
@chuegen no, I sat out the Ziti. I got Penne for my family and figured better not get another of such a similar shape.
Been waiting on Spaghetti and Macaroni for gifting to other people as I know perfect recipients for each, but passed on ziti.
Placed my Spaghetti order today. Now I’m waiting for my laugh when they get it. I know macaroni has to be coming up too… And I know the perfect person to gift macaroni to.
Is anyone able to see shipping weights anymore? It appears that I can not see shipping weights anymore, even for the tracking numbers that used to show them.
@chuegen I haven’t bothered to check previous shipments but I came here to ask this exact question. Guess they caught onto us knowing all the pasta details
@chuegen not showing for me either. I wonder if meh requested weights not be available once they learnt we figured out how to get them so that we can’t tell ahead of time how much we’re getting.
On a more positive note, I can’t check the weight of the most recent shipment I sent my victim, but it’s moving fast. It shipped earlier this week and has already made it to Atlanta. That’s fast. They usually sit in Texas for one to two weeks.
It’s given a predicted delivery date of Tuesday… And it might actually make that date based on its movement so far.
A package arriving in just over two weeks from when I ordered it is pretty impressive for mercatalyst. Often they’re only just shipping it two weeks after order placed…
@OnionSoup It appears to be across all Mercatalyst sites, as my nuts and my vib^H^H^H percussion massager have lost their weights too (MorningSave / SideDeals).
I ordered for my husband’s brother and his wife. They just got a new home, and what better housewarming gift than pasta? I hope they get a hundred pounds. hehe.
/giphy perpetual-minute-temper
@Pony Forty pounds of spaghetti! In an emergency, I think we can cook it, weave it into a rope, and escape over the balcony. We have been truly blessed.
It’s $5 for one month on all their sites… And if you don’t want to have shipping next month just set yourself I reminder to cancel it before the month is over.
If you end up winning the pasta lottery (5 boxes), that’s a $1 a box to ship… Which is pretty darn good.
I guarantee they’re not making a profit on the $5 a month shipping with most people…
I’m sure shipping costs more than that… They do it to psychologically push us to buy more. (And it works)
@OnionSoup@RonLennon I mean at minimum $8 to ship 10 pounds of pasta is probably what you’d get charged at the post office. At best, $8 to ship 100 pounds is a steal. Granted their shipping speed is awful, like 2-3 weeks awful.
But to be honest even if you’re not interested in signing up for anything recurring why not just sign up for the membership and immediently cancel? You won’t get to keep the benefits for the rest of the month but you won’t have to worry about cancelling in 30 days.
@MrMikenIkes@OnionSoup@RonLennon actually, with membership when you cancel, you lose benefits immediately. Best to setup a reminder to cancel before the month is up.
So my friend got his pasta today, but the tracking number lists it as just arriving at the post office today and being delivered tomorrow. I am deeply curious if this means more pasta or not.
Last Friday we got 40lbs of spaghetti on the doorstep, and we were pleasantly surprised, and happy. Slightly freaking out what to do with the pasta, so I sold/gave much of it away and was happy.
Today, I walked outside, and saw 3 more large boxes sitting by the door. Turned around, walked back inside, slammed the door, and flopped on my bed. Wtf do I do now.
The % Daily Value (DV) tells you how much a nutrient in a serving of food contributes to a daily diet. 2,000 calories a day is used for general nutrition advice.
I’d order it for my niece, but Penne still hasn’t arrived, a week since it was last scanned in Texas, and it appears to be only 10 lbs, which was a bad buy.
@kevinrs Just luck of the draw. If someone gets 40 or 100 lbs, someone else got shorted. That just happened to be you this time. Know that you helped make someone else enjoy a bounty of pasta. Not everyone gets to be a winner.
@mike808 100 lbs is beyond ridiculous though, and if they’d made those 50 instead, each one could have been 5 10 lb orders changed to 20. Though a few are fine with 10 lb orders, I’m sure nearly everyone who got one isn’t ordering any more.
Surprised my roommate with a 20 pound collection of penne, but their real favorite is spaghetti and we’ve habitually demolished pretty much any amount, so we’ll see how this one goes. Every ten pounds will probably last a week at best.
Be sure to switch it back on your next purchase or delete it after this purchase, payment settings are across all the sites and you don’t want to accidentally send any Meh purchases to a friend.
It’s not new normal for Newgistics / Pitney Bowes. It’s just normal. They’ve always been this bad. No words can describe their performance, it’s like one of those sounds you simply can’t hear or speak…
I told a friend about PastaDrop a few weeks ago. He laughed and said I better not try that on him. I said of course not, and we haven’t spoken about it since.
He’s getting some spaghetti.
Or as some people call it. Fat Spaghettini.
@OnionSoup we call it thicc spaghettini
@vinuash I like my pasta like I like my women…
… Thicc and cooked al dente.
Hoping to send 10 lbs of Penne to my friend who is on keto. He needs a break …
@mpolmar and with coronavirus going around its not a very good idea to be on a diet that lowers your immune system right now anyway.
By shipping him pasta you could be saving his life.
You’re a hero.
Shit just got real. Five tracking numbers incoming.
PastaDrop to a victim/friend tracking # still shows in Texas.
40# showed up Thursday.
Another 40# showed up today.
Deeply hoping there is more, but this has totally been worth it!
Another 10# showed up today.
There’s at least one still in the queue at the post office.
Friend has resorted to “Oh. Dear. God.” posts on Facebook. His wife said he was getting twitchy when he heard the mail truck approaching.
MOHR PASTA!!!
Brother got 200lbs!! Best money spent ever!
@CatanGirl That is a nightmare. A friend got 200lbs and doesn’t know what to do!
ok this is great but when is saucedrop? Could really use some vodka sauce.
@vinuash Could you just imagine the nightmare of shipping glass jars filled with sauce via Pitney Bowes?!!?

@chuegen So thoughtful of you. I’m sure everybody is going to be very happy.
I totally just dropped 4 different pastas on one unsuspecting friend. She better make me some noods when I drop by!! Can you imagine getting 400lbs of pasta, I would probably pee myself laughing.
Oooh, this would be the perfect opportunity for them to do a pallet!!! Heck yeah!!!
@Karpadm76 how much pasta can fit in a semi?
That’s what she needs.
sounds like a social interaction you need to have with your friend
@OnionSoup haha! I wouldnt be able to tell her it was me at that point. As it is, she will likely try to send me home with noods not knowing i dropped myself for donation pasta twice.
@Karpadm76 my mother got 200 lbs. I nearly peed my pants laughing. She had to go around the back of our rural post office. The postal worker was not amused poor guy. She got 160 lbs one day and then when she went back the next day, she got another 40 more. I have laughed myself stupid over this.
@ivannabc I would probably do more that just pee myself. Them damn laughing farts will get you if you dont stop quick enough!!! Hahaha!!!
I want elbows!
@Delons it looks like they’re alternating, skinny strands type pasta and non strands type pasta.
They bought out a restaurant supplier stock, so you’d think elbows must appear eventually. It’s a common restaurant pasta.
@OnionSoup I make lots and lots of Mac and Cheese and Macaroni Salad, so does my entire family. Would easily send an order to myself, my mother, and my grandmother.
Time to sit back and wait another 7 days!
Got an accusatory text, “Are you responsible for the 40 pounds of spaghetti on our porch?”
So worth it, just for that!
Received my spaghetti today. 80 lbs. Anyone know if there is a pasta sauce drop service? #sendnoods
@mibeling I think target delivers
here’s a new one:
i sent a pastadrop to my sister in law.
100 pounds of lovely spaghetti…
i got a text from her “have you heard of this company called pastadrop?” i responded , and she asked if i sent it. (we’d addressed it to their dog, from our dog.)

@pippakay that is so sad.
@RiotDemon IKR?
no sense of adventure.
hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone else. goes to show: nothing is impastable.
100 lbs of Penne Rigate just arrived at my friend’s house today! She’s baffled- I’m not sure how to reveal myself yet. But I guess if she reads this board she can discover it here. If you’re reading this, Amanda, it was me, I’m so sorry to have cursed you!

Looks like my mom is getting a load of spaghetti dropped on her, hope she has a good spaghetti policy!

@MrMikenIkes free star for the beautiful reference!
$40 invested in PastaDrops, 10 pound pasta return. Yeah, it’s a fun idea and the shipping boxes are cute. But I can’t help but feel like a sucker.
@binkybear Just luck of the draw. If someone gets 40 or 100 lbs, someone else got shorted. That just happened to be you this time. Know that you helped make someone else enjoy a bounty of pasta. Not everyone gets to be a winner.

and spoil the surprise?
@binkybear You should probably stay away from IRKs.
@binkybear I was disappointed, too - two to four times more expensive than supermarket off-brand pasta.
Signed up for Informed Delivery…
I’ve got 8 packages en route from Mediocre.

Maybe I can get my wife to trade some Penne with the victim I sent Spaghetti to if they get extra spaghetti.
@OnionSoup ok… I ran all those tracking numbers through Pitney Bowes tracking.
Two are negligible weight. (T-shirts and scrubber things).
Five are over 20lbs… Must mean 100lbs of Penne and my impending doom. If I die, tell the police “It was Mrs. Soup, with the Penne, in the kitchen”
One on Pitney Bowes website shows not shipped yet… So that must be SideDeals shipping my nuts to me.
So no mystery box, it’s just an early label.
@OnionSoup Did you order any ziti? Two new tracking numbers appeared for me today, presumably for the ziti.
@OnionSoup You may want to change the shipping of your nuts to your spouse since shes gonna have them after the inundation of pasta anyways…
@Karpadm76 I think I’ll need the spare nuts myself because of that.
spaghetti for friends. sent from the dog.
wonder if they’ll figure it out (he can’t type).
hmmm.
/giphy eloped-psychic-ground
Is anyone able to see shipping weights anymore? It appears that I can not see shipping weights anymore, even for the tracking numbers that used to show them.

/giphy lost weight
@chuegen yeah. I can confirm no weight too. And to top that off thoughts of it moving faster seems to be premature. Day 3 in Atlanta now.
Ours arrived today- more manageable than my sister’s 100 lbs of penne, but still plenty of pasta
Maybe Egg Drop?
@Valued1 as a soup, I approve this message
100 lbs to Sis in Georgia. My 5-year-old nephew called to yell at me to never do that again.
I ordered for my husband’s brother and his wife. They just got a new home, and what better housewarming gift than pasta? I hope they get a hundred pounds. hehe.

@Pony Forty pounds of spaghetti! In an emergency, I think we can cook it, weave it into a rope, and escape over the balcony. We have been truly blessed.

Well… not big spaghetti fan so using this week to send linguine to a friend. Not sure if should post on this thread or the linguine thread.
Just took my son shopping yesterday, and he said him and his girlfriend were eating a lot of spaghetti because it was easy to make.
@seraphmonkey best coincidence.
Why does shipping cost so much? $7.99 seems a bit excessive!
@RonLennon it’s heavy.
@RonLennon do the $5 monthly shipping instead!
It’s $5 for one month on all their sites… And if you don’t want to have shipping next month just set yourself I reminder to cancel it before the month is over.

@OnionSoup sounds like you work for them! Still, 7.99 is a bit steep— not interested in signing up for anything that is recurring.
@OnionSoup @RonLennon I mean at minimum $8 to ship 10 pounds of pasta is probably what you’d get charged at the post office. At best, $8 to ship 100 pounds is a steal. Granted their shipping speed is awful, like 2-3 weeks awful.

So my friend got his pasta today, but the tracking number lists it as just arriving at the post office today and being delivered tomorrow. I am deeply curious if this means more pasta or not.
I’ve really enjoyed this little experiment! Hate to see it go! I hope there is something similar in the future!
Sis in Sacramento got 20 lbs today! Her birthday was yesterday… so close!
Hahahaha, YES!!! She got a second 20-lb delivery today!!!
Two of the 5 I shipped have been received… brother got 20 lbs, sister got 40… she told me last night she’s looking out for pasta recipes!
I don’t even…
Last Friday we got 40lbs of spaghetti on the doorstep, and we were pleasantly surprised, and happy. Slightly freaking out what to do with the pasta, so I sold/gave much of it away and was happy.

I’d order it for my niece, but Penne still hasn’t arrived, a week since it was last scanned in Texas, and it appears to be only 10 lbs, which was a bad buy.

@kevinrs You seem to think that everyone that got one is the person that sent it to themselves. That’s not how PastaDrop works.

when I click on send to a friend my account comes up what am I doing wrong?
Hi @dino2269 you can add more addresses in the payment settings section of your account page
https://pastadrop.com/account/payment-settings
Be sure to switch it back on your next purchase or delete it after this purchase, payment settings are across all the sites and you don’t want to accidentally send any Meh purchases to a friend.
Just dropped my buddy some ziti. So that’s two this week!
I’m assuming that this will eventually ship.
Though then I get to wait while PB hoards it for another week or two.
Estimated delivery date is next week, so if somehow it gets shipped this week and PB doesn’t hoard it, I’ll be amazed.
I have a tracking # with this activity:
Any idea if this is an indicator of 2 different shipments, or if something’s gone awry with the delivery?
@entwashian that’s the new normal Pitney Bowes weirdness. It’s best to try not to make sense of it.
@Ignorant Thanks
It’s not new normal for Newgistics / Pitney Bowes. It’s just normal. They’ve always been this bad. No words can describe their performance, it’s like one of those sounds you simply can’t hear or speak…
It’s fun watching the tracking info for these boxes, week after week, as they slowly creep toward me, one state at a time, each at their own pace.
It’s so hard to know what to expect.
June 16 – Picked Up by Shipping Partner, USPS Awaiting Item. CARROLLTON, TX 75010. Shipping Partner: PITNEY BOWES
June 26 – Arrived Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item. CARROLLTON, TX 75010. Shipping Partner: PITNEY BOWES
July 6 – <crickets>
Seems like it might not be a thing, maybe.
@jplummer We received 20 lbs last week and 80 lbs today. My boss, and my wife’s best friend both received theirs on Friday.
No posts here for over a week. Am I the only sucker still waiting? I’m getting hungry.
Wow! What a delivery. My friend was going keto, but not anymore
That was a little anticlimactic. 20# finally arrived today, after a nearly 2 month odyssey through the bowels of PB.
