@jst1ofknd That’s interesting… our noodle recipe is just eggs, salt, and flour. IIRC, it’s 1/4 tsp of salt for every egg and then just enough flour to make the dough stiff but not so stiff it tears.
@RiotDemon@tinamarie1974 egg noodles (cooked chewy), CoM soup and anything in a casserole, bake at 375 for 25-35 minutes… you can stop there or add some chopped onions or green beans or grated cheese on top.
I ended up cooking the ground beef in the pot, draining most of the fat out. Added the cream of mushroom soup, a few beef bouillon cubes, water, and seasonings. Stirred it around. Pressure cooked for one minute and then stirred it to break up the bouillon cubes. Pressurised for two more minutes and then added sour cream. Was yum. Plenty of left over for the next few days. Might freeze some.
@jst1ofknd@RiotDemon
That sounds like that other family favorite, “Hamburger Soup” - where you brown some ground beef, and toss it in a stew pot or crock pot with a bag of frozen veggies (peas, corn, carrots), add some beef broth, heat and serve.

@kdemo Is usually the Manischewitz section. they have great everything matzo too. Little cream cheese, little grape jelly cuppa coffee! Thanks for the tip forgot about that.
@kdemo Years ago they opened Hannaford’s which is an upscale New England grocery chain here. Here is a tribal middle middle class county in the epicenter of the bible belt. Anyway the first year they were open they stocked a full parve aisle. Passover comes the have to unload the whole stock at cost they barely sold any of it. I bought cases of stuff I’m not supposed to eat for pennies on the dollar. I gained so much weight of the following 6 months.
@bleedmichigan yeah, if I don’t have 2 months of food on hand it’s time to go hit the sale racks at the local supermarkets. (I am currently working on several boxes of St Patrick’s day cookies and cupcakes that I bought for 43¢ per box of a dozen). Freezers and the (once) ubiquitous meh foodsaver FTW
@bleedmichigan@chienfou we’re still making our way through the food my in-laws hoarded when they lived with us. They just could never get adjusted to the fact that they are no longer hosting family dinners. They still insisted on keeping their Costco membership. I think if for no other reason than to have an excuse to go shopping. We kept telling them they didn’t need to keep buying so much. Now we’re kind of glad they did…
I’ve taken care of you:

@jst1ofknd Tell yo mama to make noodles.
@jst1ofknd Flour is scarce too.

Not this kind, I hope, or it will take a lot of boiling to make them edible.

@rockblossom Na man, those are for sparkies.
@cranky1950

Remind me never to hire you to do the house wiring. Or the plumbing!
What’s the big deal with egg noodles, I see a lot of people mention them? I never really eat them.
@star2236 Noodle snobs maybe? I’m pretty content with the un-nutritional bland 50 cent bags of Ramen you can find everywhere.
KuoH
@kuoh @star2236 Becuse they are eggier and cheweyer than pasta. It’s an eastern european thing.
@star2236 Mandatory for Mom’s turkey and noodles, or beef and noodles recipes, and also the best noodle for chicken paprikash and beef stroganoff
I’ll have to try them next time I see them.
Gotta be egg noodles for casseroles and soups. Just gotta …
@stolicat Geeez can you even imagine cream of tomato soup with elbows or shells?
I scored one bag of thin egg noodles yesterday for my parents. The entire isle had this sad bag and there boxes of lasagne noodles.
Sad state when I was excited because I procured some subpar egg noodles
@tinamarie1974 I feel your pain - we’re almost out and it hasn’t been in the stores for the last two weeks …

@stolicat
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 If you want to
hoardstock up with some, they are available online.My wife makes great egg noodles.

oops… the recipe was already posted above…
Some recipes are much better using good egg noodles.
I went to the grocery store. There was tons of egg noodles. I was compelled to buy a bag. What should I make?
I have ground beef I need to cook tonight. Suggestions welcome.
@RiotDemon Make a trip to the post office and mail them to @cranky1950?
@cranky1950 @Kidsandliz nah. Closed.
@RiotDemon you could make stroganoff
@tinamarie1974 can I do that with a can of cream of mushroom soup or something?

@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 egg noodles (cooked chewy), CoM soup and anything in a casserole, bake at 375 for 25-35 minutes… you can stop there or add some chopped onions or green beans or grated cheese on top.
just google “egg noodle casserole with beef”
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 thanks. Already have stuff thrown into the pressure cooker. Luckily I had enough ingredients to make the stroganoff.
@RiotDemon @stolicat sorry I JUST saw this. Hope it turns out delicious!!
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 but you have to bake it to get the crusty top!
@RiotDemon @stolicat @tinamarie1974

You don’t need no stinking oven.

@mike808 @stolicat @tinamarie1974 it was delicious even without a crusty top.

A childhood favorite of mine was always “Brown Gravy Stuff”. Egg noodles, hamburger meat, and brown gravy.
Had that for my birthday on Thursday. My mom brought it over.

@mike808 @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
but where’s the noodles?!?!?
@jst1ofknd @RiotDemon My mom usta make it with stew beef. I call it meat and grease over noodles. Love that stuff
@stolicat lol, oops. Definitely dumped the noodles in there before pressurizing and stirring.
@cranky1950 - If your market has an ethnic section, check there. I’ve seen them with the Jewish food. That way they can charge more, it seems.

I’m curious.
Are you more cranky normally, or more cranky under conditions of extra social isolation?
Or is there no such thing as “extra social isolation” as a possibility for you?
; )
/giphy isolated

@f00l No, but I’m probably more of a pain in the ass to those around me as they have no escape.
My pantry has like 8 bags. I’ve always bought in bulk this isn’t a new thing. If you want I’ll send you a bag of noodles
