The other goat tradition (December Goat nominations)
10Every December in the city of Galve, Sweden, they celebrate the season with a 13 meter tall goat made of straw.

We are … not that fancy here. Our tradition only goes back to the start of the site for a goat of the month – and since November is coming to a close, so is @cfg83’s month. That means it’s time for another goat – so nominate away!

Oh, I don’t know @narfcake. I think I spy an up-and-comer in the form of @Mehlachi. They seem to be a good sport and while relatively new, at a little under 2 years mehtizenship, they are clearly down to clown.

My husband and I are in our 9th year of having an annual party we’ve dubbed ‘The Goatening.’ We recount the story of the Gavle Goat, read off the history of each year and if the goat survived/was destroyed (and how), and then everyone bets a bottle of wine on when (date and local time) they think they goat gets destroyed. If the goat survives until the new year, house wins. If not, closest bet wins all the wine.

There used to be a list “somewhere” of the past goats. I find it implausible that @narfcake hasn’t already taken a turn. But gosh darn it, he is so helpful all the time, he should be rewarded!
But on the other paw…@caffeineguy has been helpful as well, so I wish to withdraw my nomination of @Mehlachi and provisionally 2nd @narfcake’s name with a back-up bid for @caffeineguy.
@therealjrn @narfcake has had a turn. If you hover over his first aid box you will see goat emeritus.
@Kidsandliz @therealjrn May 2015. I was the chosen shirtgoat after the prior month’s Fukubukuro included thrifted t-shirts. Also right before the end of the month, they sold meh shirts on American Apparel blanks. That was back when American meant USA and not Central America.
(The old AA shirts are still my favorites when it comes to softness, durability, and fit.)

@Kidsandliz @narfcake @therealjrn Interesting. I was going on the lack of a “dead goat” icon in the name. The Narfster must been a goat in the before times.
@cfg83 @narfcake @therealjrn the first aid icon is the least common so it is first so you have to hover over it to see what all they have besides what is showing.
@cfg83 @Kidsandliz @therealjrn FWIW, we’ve had repeat goats before, albeit indirectly. It’s not an absolute rule that a mehmber can’t be regoated; just that ex-goats shouldn’t be a default.
It’s all on the community; should the time come that no mehmber is be the goat, that will be by community decision too.
Oh, no-- I’ve managed to avoid this for a decade now!
