Methinks someone is bitter because he runs into Olympic programming when he’d rather watch something else. Perhaps a favorite series was delayed a couple of weeks to accommodate the events?
@jbartus Or canceled outright (the V remake, for example).
I truly believe it is NBC and their talking heads/voiceovers that make it disappointing.
@NBC… guys, wake up! it is no longer the early to mid-1990s… air the shit when it happens. People will DVR it if they both care and cannot arrange to be in front of a TV when it is live.
@baqui63 it would still air basically 24/7, bear in mind that quite a bit of what we saw during prime time this year was, in fact, live, Rio is only an hour ahead. At least for those of us on the East Coast…
Also NBC is one of those broadcast networks so there are probably a fair number of people who appreciate the delayed/repeat broadcasts of high profile events because they don’t have DVR.
@travo I’m assuming that’s why they had the [LANGUAGE] tag, which I haven’t seen before. I feel like he’s been bleeped in the past, but I can’t be bothered to actually look for an example.
I love the Olympics. While I could do with fewer human interest stories, I find myself wanting to see more of some of events than they show (e.g. decathlon), and think the the swimming medleys are some of the most exciting sporting events on television.
@RiotDemon some adults (not me) were raised in such a manner as to find certain words offensive or vulgar, I see no harm in warning those people that they may wish to avoid this video.
Ten million points for using “comprise” correctly!
Irk kills it once again.
“Hella” is such a douchey word. I thought you knew better Irk.
@conandlibrarian Also the name of a once high quality European automotive electrical and lighting manufacturer…
There was a language warning, you have only yourself to blame
Watching a troll puppet preach about quality programming.
/giphy oh the irony
Yes.
That said, next time, how do I stream Canadian or BBC coverage and minimize the NBC douche-fest?
@f00l IIRC, at least for London 2012, the BBC offers(ed) online streaming to UK residents. Coupled with a VPN you should be able to stream BBC.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When I was young I watched all biathlon Olympic stages! Also loved ski jumping and general skiing. Which is ironic, as I can’t ski myself at all.
Has Irk ever dropped the F-bomb before this? I like it.

@DrWorm I agree- I even watched fencing and enjoyed it. Who knew?
You know what bothers me? That adults need a language warning. Are we so easily offended by the word fuck?
Maybe it bothers me more than it should.
@RiotDemon

also my mom sometimes watches these
@RiotDemon irk has a lot of young fans.
@jbartus Some adults are raised to believe in fables. I don’t see why we should entertain them.
@DrunkCat some adults are raised to be grumpy and complain about thread necros, we put up with them.
@jbartus So far only mfladd has entertained me though.
@RiotDemon i am incredibly offended by the word fuck.
@carl669
How petty! Fuck You!
@carl669 go fuck yourself, pretty please.
@carl669
@daveinwarsh
No body cams?

@daveinwarsh That’s fuuunny!! I have some Olympic skills.
Hey Irk… saw this article, thought of this rant…

@thismyusername Aussie Onion?
You just need to try some of the different sports. Have you seen team handball? That’s pretty exciting stuff.
/youtube team handball Olympics
@jqubed I haven’t watched handball, but without a doubt the team sports are the most engaging to watch. (Also the least essentially Olympian.)
@jqubed playback disabled.
@caffeine_dude It works if you click through to the actual YouTube page.
Are Irk and Simone roughly the same size?
@mtb002
He’s bigger.
