I went and saw the corpse flower at the National Botanical Gardens a few years back, it was really a spectacular sight! Not sure if it was because it was a couple of days into its short-lived bloom, or if the tourist stench was just overwhelming, but I really didn’t get any deathly stink out of it. Definitely recommended to anyone who has the chance to go see one.
@cranky1950 whatever! who cares about cute things moving around and eating other things in a beautiful nature setting when you can watch a plant open very slowly???
For those too impatient to wait all night / a decade:
Please post a different cam that includes the legendary corpse flower odor.
@KDemo yeah! Where’s the smellovision?
@KDemo @jbartus from what I understand you can get a similar odor by letting some meat rot… so do some science and make your own corpse flower parfum!
@thismyusername no dice. Smellovision or bust!
How DARE you insult the great bear cam!
I waited 10 years for this crap???
Anyways, I meant to post this a few days ago, sorry I’m late.

Just for a sense of scale…
…there the thing is, right in front of a full-blown friggin’ tree.
PSA: This flower was the inspiration to one of this country’s most beloved films!
@ELUNO little shop of horrors?
@thismyusername FEED ME SEYMOUR!
@thismyusername I’m still waiting for another remake!
Geez whoda thought Marines had a flower.
Those who speak poorly of the bear cam should sleep with one eye open.
