The Merry Month of Meh-Mas-Day 12,13 Teenage Birthday Edition
9Well it’s that time of year again, it’s the day we celebrate the first time I found out that antibiotic eye drops for pink eye made the birth control pill ineffective. Who knew? Not me, not our family doctor, and thus we have a child that turns 13 on the 18th and today we celebrate that birthday for a few reasons. 1. Her birthday is mid week this year and no one wants a party on Wednesday
/giphy I like to party
- The 18th is a day after the vasectomy and my plan remains to sit on my butt with a bag of frozen peas playing as many video games as I can. So the wife has been nice and grabbed Links Awakening and a few other games.
So tonight is the day our lovely daughter becomes a teenager and the world ends. 8 kids are coming for the party to craft watch movies and do other crap. Why god are we letting them have a sleep over? Oh well the world will continue.
The tank is getting water today, I drilled the overflow yesterday which was fun, nothing like drilling two 3” holes in glass.
Fish arrive tomorrow as the water is heated cycled and ready.
So here is the question, what was your favorite TV show growing up?
Mine?

More importantly what fun should I cause during my daughters party?
Lastly what the heck is with the items? Meh it’s time for an IRK. Make my Vasectomy Great Again.

TV shows= The 3 Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Looney Tunes, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Underdog, Flintstones, Jetsons, Star Trek, Time Tunnel, The Rifleman, Daniel Boone, and Big Valley- which will tell you that I was a child of the 60’s to 70’s…
Show them the Vasectomy diagrams, then let them practice putting condoms on bananas…
Oh wait- you said 13 on the 18th, I thought you said 18 on the 13th.
Maybe make some microwave popcorn and string it on thread with cranberries to make Christmas decorations?
I was never good with 13 y/o girls, even [or especially] when I was a 13 y/o boy…
Finally, re: the items for sale- it has been rather shite 'round here lately…
I hope that the quality and selection of knives, bluetooth speakers, and food items being offered pick up soon, or my VMP is being wasted- it may be time for austerity measures- i.e., d/c’ing the VMP payments…
Jonny Quest and The Wild, Wild West for me. After they got yanked, maybe Ultraman or Marine boy.
@PhysAssist @aetris
H.R. Puffinstuff. Did not get the references until I was much older.
Space 1999 and ST:TOS were staples along with the other series already mentioned.
@aetris @mike808 I was a kid when it was on, and have not seen it since- what references?
I did recently see a recent Banana Splits movie listed on Prime as a comedic horror movie, but haven’t looked at it further or watched the trailer.
@aetris @PhysAssist Right in the name. It was the groivy 70s, man. It was a mashup of the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland’s mushroom-land, “puffin stuff”, and a teenage Donny Osmond with a British accent in the lead. From the minds of Sid & Marty Croft.
Oh, and Land of the Lost was another show I remember watching a lot as a kid.
A 13yo girls bday party? As the dad, get your dad joke out of the way, open a can of cold Dad B Gone, and retire to the Chaperone Room to hunker down for the duration. You have no good outcomes here, I hate to break it to you.
Just accept your fate.
@mike808 He speaks truth
Favorite shows as a kid?
Star Trek and the Nixon Impeachment hearings. Looks like I’ll be reminiscing with Lost in Space reboot Season 2 and the Trump Impeachment hearings. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

How you doin?
@mike808 Best 20 minutes of your life eh? You were a strange kid, Mike.
Childhood years:
Looney Toons and Dark Shadows
Teenage years: Monty Python

Re your daughter’s party
Take pix.
Then you something to blackmail her with.
Re party activities:
Other than providing chaperonage, food, transportation, smd a safe location, you are, as a parent, prob irrelevant at this party.
@f00l I think chaperonage is a bad idea. These girls are all certainly under 21. Maybe cokes instead?
Here’s both - one of my favorite shows as a kid and what not to do at your daughter’s party …
@stolicat Dobie Gillis for the win! With Bob Denver as a pre-Gilligan beatnik!
oh, and Rocky & Bullwinkle
@stolicat but the gif is actually Boris Badenov, Natasha Fatale and ‘Fearless Leader’…
R&B was a great show! Complete with Mr Peabody (and his boy Sherman), Dudley Do-right, and of course… Fractured Fairy Tales, and Mr Know-It-All… Good times
@chienfou Wouldn’t be Rocky & Bullwinkle without Boris & Natasha
@stolicat true… but there is a certain segment of the meh population that has no idea who those two are and what they look like…
/giphy sad but true
@chienfou @stolicat is that really possible?
@chienfou @stolicat @tinamarie1974 idk. I’m 34 and know all these things. Maybe the 20 year olds don’t but they can Google
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 @unksol yes they can google IF they had any reason to think that wasn’t Rocky or Bullwinkle… Some things we don’t know we don’t know…
