@unixrab Yeah, but the kids at my vet’s office just love having Christmas presents to open at work. Can’t make hundreds of cookies anymore (arthritis in the back), so wrapping cheap, fun presents it is.

@unixrab I’m too short! I’m sure you’ve heard this before but when I was sixteen, before seat belts, I was asleep in the backseat of my mom and dad’s car. We were going to Barstow to camp. A drunk ran a stop sign and broadsided our car. He died, leaving behind a wife, three young kids and no insurance. I had a broken sternum and broken back (I was an inch shorter than when we started the trip).

Anyway, life goes on and a while back I was on my way to Disneyland to spend a couple of “girls days” with a friend and a truck pulled into my lane and I guess I over corrected. The car was facing forward, but was traveling sideways (scary). Then it hit the curb (blew out both passenger side tires) and rolled down an embankment (side over side), then hit a fence, did a 180 and I was hanging from my seat (thank God for seatbelts). The guy who caused it had pulled over and he got me out of the car. I was pretty shaken up, but I was walking.

But it aggravated my back and if I push it (which is easy to do being short and having to reach up to counters) it can take weeks to feel better. So, I just don’t make cookies. Easy fix.

Yes, a cookie exchange would be fun! Maybe a meh thing!

Anyway, here’s a video of my car from 2007. That’s me talking and my husband picking up the trash that maybe came from my car. I give him a bunch of grief when he picks up something and realizes it wasn’t from my crash and he cooly let’s it go behind him…that fence was the one I was over, I liked to joke I landed at Miramar.

I make about 1000 of my “special” cookies at Christmastime for family and friends. I only make these once a year. It takes me about a year to recover. I didn’t make any this year, the first time in about 15 years. I just didn’t have the time or energy…

@f00l I’ve been as busy as a bull’s ass in fly season and I haven’t had the chance to see too many films over the last few weeks, but I did have an opportunity to screen The Founder the other day and IM(H?)O it should have been named The Flounder. I know that this opinion isn’t shared by many who have seen it, but it just didn’t do it for me, and Keaton seemed to be rehashing a failed combination of two or three of the same tired archetypal character performances he has been plowing through for years in this film (think most everything before 2013 - LOL). Keaton had done so well in Spotlight, and in Birdman and I had much higher hopes. Perhaps I should have read today’s write-up before seeing the film; I may have adjusted my expectations. IMO he was better in Robocop (2014).

Then again, meh, maybe it was just me as I have been experiencing off days. (Trumpression)

The last time I heard from her, the end of July, she told me that they had been running a lot of tests on her and that soon they were going to do an MRI. I tried to contact her in August and got no answer.

Since she had a tendency to disappear, I kept telling myself that maybe she would just pop up here again some day. But deep down inside, I knew.

Alas work is a pain in the ass (as in, it’s requiring my focus) and I’m under the weather. That’s right, I feel like shit and I can’t convalesce in the relative peace, quiet and separation from most of humanity at home. I have new digs at the office that are somewhat out of the way and structured so as to minimize contact with the outside world. But what do these motherfuckers that I work with do? Every goddamned one of them has to poke his ugly mug in and say something original like, “Well you’re sure hidden away back here.” Yesterday I responded with as much attitude as I could muster (to one of my closest friends actually), “I try.” He got the message. Not everyone does.

I like the idea of people. I even like a limited set of specific instances of people, mostly in very small, controlled doses. I think the only two people I ever want to spend extended periods of time with are my wife and my daughter–and even they get on my nerves sometimes. Hell, I get on my nerves.

That may qualify me as a misanthrope. I’ve been contemplating the possibility for a few years now.

So, no. No time for rant right now. Now get the fuck off my lawn.

@mfladd Ha. I actually post once or twice a week around here. Read all the time just don’t often have a lot to contribute. Just recently broke my Meh Button streak of 194 so yeah, I’m still here

Oh man, I knew when I put the phone back in my pocket that if I didn’t respond that second It’d be at least a week before I typed something up. I don’t think I was ever a goat, definitely the GOAT, but never a scapegoat… Do Appreciate being brought to the limelight though.

As for what I’ve been up to, first of all I’m surprised anyone cares, but I’ve been keeping busy in seattle. Looking to move closer to the city because I find myself driving down there at least twice a week anyways for shows or plans with friends. Live music became my addiction of 2016, seeing over 50 shows and about 120 different bands I think…with only one small music festival to boot. Been going out with a lot of friends and just living it up and getting really familiar with the city. Starting to know this place like the back of my hand now.

Just been having a lot of fun with my life. Volunteering a lot for a few local organization and giving to charities that I feel will help make the world a better place moving forward. Playing guitar and learning music theory on the side to keep me occupied at home… Just playing a lot of catch up I guess. I’m trying to buy a new place for myself in 2017, but also don’t know what I’m looking for exactly since I’m currently spending about 20 waking hours a month at my current place. We’ll see I’ll get it figured out I’m not worried though. Anyways I’ll be sure to come back and post more from time to time. I’m still posting all over the internets when I can, If you care to keep tabs on me I got plenty of places to stalk.
