Ordered the FNATIC 7H Steelseries headset. Just got an email saying it was cancelled.... Luckily I am getting a "free" VMP membership for free shipping! and instead of being able to purchase the FNATIC headset, I can purchase some crappy Polk audio headphones for 24 bucks! I don't even know what a VMP membership is and the polk audio headset are not what I need. Thanks for nothing.

Yep, we messed up, and we aren't happy about it. But we do our best to be pretty transparent around here so I'll share what happened. So here goes:

These headphones were brought in to our warehouse a couple of months ago. What you may not know is that we have a few additional channels we use to sell items outside of meh.com. A few weeks ago, a large portion of these headphones were sold via one of those channels but were not properly accounted for in our inventory system. As such, when we went in to set this sale up it was our understanding that we had a certain number of these to sell based on what our inventory system told us when in reality that number had already been significantly depleted. This was not discovered until the sale had already been completed and it was time to ship them when the physical units were pulled down from our warehouse to be boxed up.

With that said, it still shouldn't have happened. In fact, we have certain procedures in place to make sure things like this don't happen. But one of those procedures wasn't followed and it did happen and that sucks.

We understand that this is by no means an ideal scenario for you and we don't take that lightly. We'll use this as a learning experience and are implementing some company wide changes to ensure things like this are caught before they ever reach you. In the meantime, we hope that the solution we offered helps to take the sting away at least a little bit but fully understand that it won't make everyone happy. That last part is the one that bugs us the most.

tl;dr We've got to get better at counting stuff before we sell it.

- @Bogie I spent half my working life tracking down supply chain irregularities. The one constant is human error. No many how changes and failsafes and procedures and analyses you do, people will find new and painful (or old and stupid) ways to make the process fail. It's why there will always be jobs for supply systems analysts.

It could be worse... you could have gotten that headset you liked only to find out it's broke, Meh is sold out and the manufacturer is ignoring you or won't help you due to some issue they are having... Meh would probably refund you your money at that point but you'd still not have VPM out of that deal! So you came out ahead! Congratulations!

- @OldCatLady Mostly they are incorrect... but a few are spot on... I'm waiting to test the one I really think is going to happen before I say anything more... Also a lot of it has to do with how the staff are feeling I think... They drop lots of hints at things. If they are excited and thing "you'll never guess it." it's something that we would guess... but the you'll never guess throws us collectively off... to make it so we don't guess it. Watch the videos for hints at big events... Put things together... I mean the whole last Fuku was right there for us to figure out... Sadly most of my fuku purchases are dumb luck.. Then I usually end up in the oversold pile...

But, It's good that you guys have settled down on a plan for when things happen... cause everyone's human... and it's not a if things happen it's when... I think you guys do an awesome job of stating what happened, what you're doing to correct it. (and hopefully that doesn't mean that someone doesn't have a job after today... cause one little thing could lead to a mistake like this happening) The only thing I'm sad about was I never ordered one to be cancelled, cause I didn't need another headset... so I have to pay for another month of VMP... ;)

  Sucks that it happened, but I've had it happen on a lot of things that I've wanted, most of them from companies that didn't give me ANYTHING in return other than a cancellation email. As a parent... I know how the "one thing" that your child wants and you can't find it anywhere is... I've offered a $50 bounty to buy something that was sold at Woot a few years ago for about $15 (I'm picky and want it from a smoke free home and in new condition-- it is for a baby however). Guess what... we can't find it anywhere now... and we're having to deal with the fact that it's not available... yours is, not at the price you wanted to buy it at, but they have done a good faith gesture to let you know they are sorry.

- @nszalewski I know it's not fair. But it is meh. They do try to do their best and if I didn't get something from them I ordered that I really wanted I would bring a squirrel war to them (ignore the reference). They gave you something back in return for the fuckup (yes, fuckup meh :/ Keep looking for the headphones again. God knows the repeat business here is predictable for the most part. Meh is good - just keep your expectations in line. I have personally have not run into this problem before and they have always taken care of any issues I have had with any products. They are fun too.

- @christinewas I am going to blame you that my current download speed is 0.12 ...yup 1 hour 20 in and MS office security update is only 70% downloaded. Sigh. At it's best it is never fast as I am currently on a cow farm in the middle of rural MS, but this is beyond nuts how slow it is right now. So it is all your fault! Yup you. And you need to fix it.
