Went to see this tonight. My movie theatre had two different auditoriums playing it at the same time so I asked to go to the one with less people. I was by myself.
@RiotDemon The had a preview for Parasite at The Lighthouse which is one mark against it. Plus it’s in Korean and playing across town. I still might go.
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 Korean films often are in Korean.
I’ve never really understood people not liking subtitles. I keep them on all the time, for every movie I watch, even in English.
What do you dislike about subtitles?
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 Fair point. I have a Japanese television show that I really enjoy that would be perfect to keep on in the background while I do something else, except that I really can’t afford to look away from the screen.
@Limewater@sammydog01 I don’t mind subtitles but I have to be in a certain mood to watch subtitled stuff. I’ve never been classified as ADD but when I’m at home I just can’t help but be distracted by my phone when I’m watching stuff. An errant thought will run through my head and I’ll start googling something so I don’t forget what it was. Hard to do when paying attention to subtitles.
I fight myself at the movies sometimes. It drives me crazy when people are on their phones and I don’t want to be that way. Certain movies just don’t keep my attention that much. I don’t know.
@mossygreen@RiotDemon So I love black and white moves. But the size format was odd. I was in my usual seat at the side of the theater and had to move because it was framed narrow. Annoying.
Then I had trouble understanding a lot of the dialog. I got enough to figure out what little plot there was but still annoying.
I thought it was going to be scary. The only thing I found scary was the seagull. That thing was terrifying.
I guess it was just too art house for me. I thought the actors were great. Maybe more seagull and less masturbation would have been better.
I don’t check reviews before I see movies and was pretty shocked with the overwhelming praise for this one. That probably says more about me than the movie.
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 Oh, yeah, I can see your point. I read an article that mentioned the aspect ratio and vintage-type camera equipment they used that made me want to see it (I haven’t yet). But I don’t know if I’d be interested if I didn’t know about it, and still haven’t decided if I’ll actually go see it at some point, since the plot doesn’t sound all that personally appealing (it would have to be all in the delivery).
I want to see it and have heard good things from Terminator fans… but there was a joke made the other day… and it really cracked me up… I can’t recall what show (likely some late night thing) or which host… but the jist of the joke was:
“If I wanted to watch older women fight machines I would just go visit grandma.”
The preview looks great! I went to the movies last nights (Friends have an AMC pass thing for those $5 Tuesday movies) but we saw Zombieland Double Tap. That was fun too but I can’t wait to see Term!
@RiotDemon Did you see that Regal has a Disney promotion? See two Disney movies for free popcorn! I went to see Maleficent. It was surprisingly good! Now I have to go see Frozen 2. Fuuuuuuuuuuck.
I watched it! I liked it and don’t get all the hate. But yeah, in a way, I pretend this and the others after 2 are just “What ifs” since that ended the way it should have.
So @sammydog01… I did a search on Roku for Robert Pattinson. Thought it was interesting that The Lighthouse was available already. I was so excited to sit down tonight and watch it. An hour in and I’m really annoyed that Willem and Robert aren’t in this movie…
Turns out I watched The Lighthouse from 2016. After the movie was over, I went back to the search and sure enough, it shows me the poster for the 2019 version.
Now I’m annoyed because what if it’s the same damn story.
@RiotDemon The first review of that movie in IMDB says they also thought it was the 2019 version. But the reviewer didn’t figure it out until the end. I wonder if they were disappointed with the lack of masturbation. Hmmm.
I may watch it if it’s on any of my free platforms.
@sammydog01 I mean, I guess the movie was fine. But I was really wondering why Robert and Willem weren’t in it yet. And I actually thought that they were going to show up right at the end or something.
Nope but I hope to. I may go see Parasite tomorrow.
@sammydog01 never even heard of that.
@sammydog01 also, lighthouse didn’t come to my theatre.
@sammydog01 parasite isn’t playing anywhere close.
I guess I live in a desolate wasteland.
@sammydog01 then you should theater-hop over to Dark Fate.
@PocketBrain @sammydog01 we are movie nerds with the Regal Unlimited pass so no need for movie hopping. This way the movie gets their money.
@RiotDemon The had a preview for Parasite at The Lighthouse which is one mark against it. Plus it’s in Korean and playing across town. I still might go.
Did I mention how much I hated The Lighthouse?

@Limewater @RiotDemon I miss what’s going on if I have to crawl under my seat to search for a dropped Milkdud.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 Fair point. I have a Japanese television show that I really enjoy that would be perfect to keep on in the background while I do something else, except that I really can’t afford to look away from the screen.
@sammydog01 I really like Pattinson so I’ll still watch it. Probably will just have to wait until it goes to streaming somewhere.

I’m rambling now.
@Limewater @RiotDemon That’s one reason I like the movie theater so much- I don’t mess around with my phone.
I really enjoyed Parasite. The subtitles were OK, I just feel like I miss things when I read them.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 May I ask why you hated The Lighthouse so much?
@mossygreen @RiotDemon So I love black and white moves. But the size format was odd. I was in my usual seat at the side of the theater and had to move because it was framed narrow. Annoying.

Looking forward to seeing it.

I went to see it today. It’s really good if you don’t mind giant plot holes. Fortunately I don’t.
@sammydog01 I think I’m going to see motherless tonight. Probably Doctor Sleep tomorrow
@RiotDemon Did you see that Regal has a Disney promotion? See two Disney movies for free popcorn! I went to see Maleficent. It was surprisingly good! Now I have to go see Frozen 2. Fuuuuuuuuuuck.
@sammydog01 is that the only two Disney movies playing? I wouldn’t mind seeing maleficent. I might go see Frozen, I don’t know yet.
Motherless Brooklyn was okay. Little bit slow but Edward Norton was good.
Doctor Sleep was great! Ewan McGregor was fantastic as always.
@RiotDemon There is a movie about a secret agent that turns into a pigeon too. Maybe I’ll see that instead.
I may go to Dr. Sleep tomorrow. Show times are dropping off and I would hate to miss it.
@RiotDemon
@sammydog01 the spy thing does look like it might be funny.
Don’t miss Doctor Sleep!
@RiotDemon I saw Dr Sleep- it was pretty good. I read the book which always spoils the movie a bit.
@sammydog01 I decided to wait to read the book. Maybe I’ll get there next year.
I prefer Ewan with the beard though… Why can’t you be successful and keep your beard?
I watched it! I liked it and don’t get all the hate. But yeah, in a way, I pretend this and the others after 2 are just “What ifs” since that ended the way it should have.
@ELUNO yay!

There wasn’t any masturbation though.

@sammydog01 it was free on Tubi. The movie wasn’t great. Probably would have been better with masturbation.

Dating dildos and masturbation movies. What a site!
@ELUNO Hey, that movie was “art”.
@ELUNO @sammydog01 we are a classy bunch here.
