@MehnofLaMehncha Desk*top* → Lap*top* → Hand*top*; unfortunately, that word didn't get traction. Hand*held* won the day instead. If the chain hadn't been broken, Google Glass would have been called a Head*top* computer, right?!
@dunkeroni I see your point, however, it still bothers me that people who know better still use this terminology. I know its petty but we all have our irks. No pun intended
If it helps a decision, their warranty is amazing. Had a backpack through five years of college, and six years of working at a summer camp. The laptop ended up getting holes and finally the zipper broke.
Contacted Targus to see if they could repair the zipper, and they replaced my old one with a brand new model. And the original was just a $50 Wal-Mart, nothing expensive.
@Tiverty I bought a Targus backpack through meh at some point and will reiterate this. They are quality made products and provide plenty of protection. Hope I don't have to use the warranty!
@Tiverty If your laptop ended up "getting holes" than I'd say your bag was definitely defective. I'm glad you got it replaced so your next laptop can hopefully stay hole-free.
On the second to last photo of the Geo bag it looks like it has a different handle than the other photos. It has grey in the middle where in the other photos the handles are all black.
@Lister Good pair of eyes you've got there! There definitely is a difference: 2nd to last has a leather handle, last has a cheaper-looking fabric-type handle
@calexander3103 thank you for the heads up. If you were to buy one, which type would you go with? I do need a big, comfortable laptop bag for my Lenovo Z50...we travel a lot, and I feel the one with "a lot of room" would work better for me, but it seems everyone is buying the slim type. I'm on mobile so can't tell which one has the "cheap" looking strap..any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
@tanskya well, the slim is the one that had two different straps. Regardless, I'm the kind of person who always a bunch of stuff with me. I can't just bring one thing, so I'd go with the topload personally!
1) The meh servers didn't appear to want a sale. 2) No way without VMP - but OK, yes with VMP. We go thru laptop messenger bags like we don't care what is inside.
P.S.: Hopefully the shoulder strap comes with it - a few Amazon reviews said it was missing.
@OutbackJon You're not doing it right, then. It shows what a concerned parent you are when your STBX baby mama can't be responsible to bring the diaper bag for your kid.
@jjohns71 Thanks - I'm always accepting of deal quality critiques. It's the most subjective thing we do and of course the hardest.
Our purchasing process is uniquely structured and allows risks to be taken at the buyer level. The team and resources are orders of magnitude larger than this single site itself can support. There are macroeconomic and competitive reasons that could be called out but I've seen 25 years of cycles and that's not an excuse I'd fall on.
There have been far more exciting periods than the last few months but I happen to think this particular deal is strong today. We're of course always striving to be more exciting. If this isn't strong enough then VMP may not be good for you. Hopefully we can still earn a daily visit.
Now, if you'd give me a REALLLLY good deal on a laptop, I might buy both! I've got enough bags for all of the electronics that I don't have. (That just means that I have more bags than electronics)
I for one like this deal, laptop bags are spendy, so I never buy them, despite carrying a laptop all the time. No regrets on my overjoyed-airborne-macaw
@PhotoJim I put a real keyboard on my ZX81. I could type much faster. Too bad the Basic interpretter couldn't keep up.
Progress marches on. I'm teaching kids how to make and program an Arduino based robot. The rented classroom didn't have as many desktop computers as we had students. We used Raspberry Pi 2's for programming stations for half the class. They worked great.
@hamjudo if all you're doing using the Pi to program (no bus/real world hard interfaces) have you considered the new Pi Zero? (5 bucks, but if you were lucky enough to reserve one in December at Microcenter before they shipped - Microcenter gave it to you free since they missed the promised available date... by like 2 days.)
We are using http://codecenter.cc to program the Arduino's from within Chrome/Chromium. The tool chain hasn't been built for the Arm v6 instruction set, so it doesn't run on the Pi 0 or Pi 1. The consensus is, it would be too painfull on those slower, lower RAM, single core processors even if it were rebuilt for them.
Codecenter.cc has a lot of advantages in classrooms. Kids can access their programs from any computer, including computers at their house. Codecenter makes everyone go through a two minute tutorial to get everything working. It ends with a screen saying something like "congratulations you just saved 30 minutes of messing with cables and drivers". It is true. It just works. It saved a ton of time.
Getting back to the Pi Zero... I want some. Alas they are out of stock. Once they are available in quantity I plan on trying them out. I do think they mostly make sense as a second Pi, for those that already have a Model 2. The Model 2 has twice the ram, 4 times as many cores, and each core is at least 50% faster. That stuff is handy when running a web browser, and I can't imagine coding without being able to do a google search.
All of my Robotics code, except for vision processing, should run just fine on the Zero.
A lot of people seem to say that the bags are not sleek or attractive enough, but I think meh has released enough neoprene in the past to satisfy them.
As for me, I'm a mechatronics engineering student, and I often have to carry a 15.6" laptop along with its hefty charger along with electronics kits and circuits boards for classes. This $14 bag looks good enough for all of that.
@dunkeroni I think you may find the slimmer of the two (Geo) to be too small. Broken resistors and cracked boards mean another trip to the bookstore to replace those kits. I took similar classes in school (though I'm now a civil engineer). I wouldn't want to carry that stuff in a messenger bag. Whatever you choose enjoy school, real life is a real time suck.
I'm intrigued, but wish there was more info. What material are these bags made of? (Or was that listed somewhere, and I missed it?)
I also wish there were more photos, for example of the back side of the larger bag, so I could see the suitcase strap for myself.
And the two photos of the Geo bag really do seem like two different bags -- different handle material, different location of strap attachment, and in one photo the zipper comes all the way down the sides. What's with that? Which bag is for sale?
@Goatherd Curious about the two Geos as well. Pretty sure I'm not in for this one anyway, as they're just larger than I need, but knowing what materials are involved would be a helpful data point…
@sschong Ooh, good sleuthing. If you're right, then they got the name wrong, since "Geo" seems to be the full-side-zipper one. Ah well, the sale is over. Perhaps we'll never know!

@RogerWilco
Not your bag?
Extra Meh button needed.
@dayne Agreed
Not big enough for me. #twss
@mehgrl That's what SHE said!
This just brought the site down. Wow total meh
What exactly is a laptop?
Is there a lap bottom?
@MehnofLaMehncha yeah....it gets patted
@MehnofLaMehncha Or spanked if they turn on the Grail-shaped lantern.
@MehnofLaMehncha Desk*top* → Lap*top* → Hand*top*; unfortunately, that word didn't get traction. Hand*held* won the day instead. If the chain hadn't been broken, Google Glass would have been called a Head*top* computer, right?!
@mwarren
From now on, I'm calling it head top.
Apple Watch then = wrist top
Are you saying a Mac is not a personal computer? Please tell me this is not what Meh is coming to.
@bobthetiger
As the commercials used to show:
Mac: "Hi I'm Mac"
PC: "And I'm PC"
Meh is not saying that macs are not PCs, the creators of Mac said that and used it as a very successful marketting campaign for a long time.
@dunkeroni I see your point, however, it still bothers me that people who know better still use this terminology. I know its petty but we all have our irks. No pun intended
thought it was a fuku night with the site error...
@Catdad
It's been crazier than normal the last few days.
I blame @thismyusername
@Catdad stop talking about it...otherwise @studerc is gonna come in here and start raising hell.
@FroodyFrog
I will blame @thisismyusername matter of fact
@FroodyFrog @Catdad
Ahhhh no..
No thank you

Where's Tux?
I've heard it said that eyes are the Windows to the soul. What do they say about Apple eyes?
@KDemo
That they're googly!
@FroodyFrog
Deals in the bag...no really the deal is the bag!!
On the second to last photo of the Geo bag it looks like it has a different handle than the other photos. It has grey in the middle where in the other photos the handles are all black.

Darn. I want this so much but I SOOOO do not need it.
With all the bags I have, I'd have to buy another laptop to use this.
Well that was difficult...
1) The meh servers didn't appear to want a sale.
2) No way without VMP - but OK, yes with VMP. We go thru laptop messenger bags like we don't care what is inside.
P.S.: Hopefully the shoulder strap comes with it - a few Amazon reviews said it was missing.
rich-edible-relation
I really need a new laptop bag.
But this looks like a diaper bag.
I'll keep waiting.
@SJester you could always use a diaper bag as a laptop bag. You know, for that cool, "I have a new kid, please sympathize with my sleep patterns look"
@RedOak and chicks really dig a dude who isn't afraid of commitment.
@mike808 Of course, if you're carrying around a diaper bag and no baby, it looks like you aren't committed enough to remember your own kid.
@OutbackJon You're not doing it right, then. It shows what a concerned parent you are when your STBX baby mama can't be responsible to bring the diaper bag for your kid.
I don't need more bags but... I guess I'm getting both? surging-lush-pork
I like these bags but where was this deal when I bought my Swiss Gear bag? Hmm?!
This was not the bags I was looking for...
I keep mine in a handy-dandy neoprene sleeve.
VMP unsubscribed. @Snapster please hire better/more purchasers or let the purchasers already in place do their thing if it is a bureaucratic issue.
The products offered the last 3 months have been terrible.
Sincerely,
Someone wanting this thing to succeed.
@snapster @shawn @jont @hollboll @mehcus @mediocrebot
@jjohns71 FYI - @jont no longer works for meh/mediocre and @mediocrebot is a bot - without a human to read their @ mentions.
@jjohns71 are you insane? did you not see the irk t-shirts??
@jjohns71 Thanks - I'm always accepting of deal quality critiques. It's the most subjective thing we do and of course the hardest.

@carl669 was about to say "that might not be the ideal counter to @jjohns71's argument." ... Then had some coffee. Sarcasm.
@snapster Thanks for the reply, of course I'll still be a daily visitor.
@candreasen that macaw does not look overjoyed to me....it looks PISSED!
@chellemonkey yeah, not my best pick, doesn't look airborne either...
This is better:
It's still Commodore v. Atari for me. :)
@PhotoJim which my Sinclair Z80 will trash all day, every day.
@mike808 With that membrane keyboard?
@PhotoJim Atari pulled that crap too with the 400… Less-than-fond memories of both of those machines.
We just ordered another 6 Pi's.

@Goatherd This appears to be the one that Meh.com is selling. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=TSS66712+&N=-1&isNodeId=1
The other one shown is Targus Geo TST59612.

I'm in for three. This is a great deal!
Thanks meh!
Dear Meh,
Please sell more of the Targus Gravity Backpacks!
Thanks,
@thismyusername
@thismyusername If they're not selling them, I think you know who to blame…
unfortunate-cursed-government...

I never received the lighter color laptop bag. Who do I get in touch with to let them know?
@Beamer5757 go to meh.com/orders and beneath your order for the laptop bag, click "I need help with this" - that will send your message to support.
