Talkin' 'bout my generation
9Worrying about the way this pandemic will affect today’s kids. Distancing might affect them socially, educationally; it could define their lives.
Afaik they don’t have a name yet - I’ve come up with a few possibilities.
Gen V (for virus)
V-Gens
Coronials
Suggestions?

My vote goes for V-gens.
@riskybryzness - Insult to injury? lol
I like that one too - but still tied with Coronials.
@riskybryzness Virennials. (Hmm, sounds kind of like an STD.)

At my house, we have a little downtime after breakfast. Round about 9:30 I announce: “Alright, Quarantine Kids, it’s time for mandated exercise.”
I vote for ‘quarantine kids’
@Nate311 - Good one!
Military home schooling?
They say it’s actually helpful to maintain a schedule. I heard of one family that gets dressed, has breakfast, then the kids put on backpacks and pretend to take a bus to the kitchen table for school.
Why no mention of vault dweller?
@bmf
If the last of the Millennials and the first of Generation Z were born in 1996 and 1997, respectively, then I suppose the current generation that babies are born into began somewhere around 2012 or so.
It helps to think of these in terms of what each generation remembers, though those are often only clear in retrospect. Millennials are the last to remember the world before 9/11 and before personal use of the Internet became commonplace. Zoomers are the last to remember the world before we all had smartphones and social media. How will today’s little kids have their world changed by the coronavirus?
@lljk I suspect some will remember it as the year they were held back in school as the discussion in one school system is that kids who don’t have internet access to “come to class” or to get their work done, or the kids that do have that access but don’t check in, will repeat their grade (seems to me that those kids should get the opportunity to start school early to make that work up - yes teachers will need paid along with bus drivers and other staff, but it would solve that issue). And of course those who didn’t get a graduation ceremony, prom, or their last year of playing a sport, etc. will remember that.
@lljk Perhaps the pandemic generation? They were born to folks just as the economy was recovering on the heels of a deep recession. Beyond the political changes that they may not affect them yet, they’re more socially interconnected than any past generation – but now, going through a long stretch of physical disconnect.
@lljk -I was thinking along those terms. I really think this will last a long time and cause a major shift in the US and world culture.

How about Oopsies ?
I was thinking the other day: in 10 years, we’ll either have stories about that one time everyone ran around wearing masks OR we’ll have stories about the days before everyone always wore masks all the time.
Also…why can’t we have transparent masks? I want everyone to see my gorgeous kissable smackers.

Also… “coronials” is hilarious.
