DO NOT BUY
Brought this the last time (like 3 weeks ago). Not worth it period. I got it as low cost way to monitor heart rate while working out. BUT it cant read heart rate while moving. Moving like… BASIC workouts. Sleep monitoring you went to sleep at 5 am for 4 mins (i went to bed at 12 cause i’m boring and got a fill 7 hours. ) I wish there was some thing i could say makes it worth while, but i cant. I even bough the bonus bands. THATS how much i wanted it not to suck.
Not in a creepy way, you say?? Did you see the app permissions? WAY CREEPY! And these are like ink-jet printers. The In-App Purchases - up to a freakin’ BENJAMIN - are ridiculous!
I will get one for my wife for Christmas and pair it to my phone so I can get a record of her exercise everyday. Does this break down heart rate by the hour?
@hchavers “keep 'em in line by forcing them to wear various biometric wearables linked to a shock collar that delivers a healthy dose of tough love in the event of a minor lapse in judgment”, that’s what I always say.
Source : Me. Formerly worked for Striiv. Astounded company is still around and supporting the app. Great folks, step count and HR were actually pretty accurate when they worked, but… yeah, I would avoid.
The tracker -will- fall out of the strap at any given opportunity (if it’s the silicone strap) or the strap will dig into your wrist (if it’s the plastic strap) - that being said, if you can dig up a Smart somewhere and the battery’s still good, the pedometer is super accurate and the things are damn near bulletproof.
@MPF This reflects my experience. I have purchased several of these for my daughter off morningsave. The first was a gift as she wanted a step tracker/watch, and the other two were replacements for when the tracker fell out of the strap and she lost it.
I’m not buying any more of these.
Steps were inaccurate compared to my phone and my girlfriends Applewatch. HR was inconsistent. Biking for 40 mins didn’t change the active minutes. Sleep monitoring never worked. Text notification were inconsistent. Logs of exercise, water, weight, etc never synced properly.
I don’t have any experience with this product but the Xiaomi Mi Band4 has been great for me and my wife for the last 4 months. Cost is $40 shipped from Amazon, replacement straps are dirt cheap ($8 for 12 of them), and the app/tracking are solid. You can get it a bit cheaper though Xiaomi’s partner site gearbest.com but it ships from China. Just bought another for family and I had it in two days from Amazon.
@Fen_Star sorry, I don’t know of any bands that have pulse oximeters in them. btw, Xiaomi isn’t Huawei and I don’t think either do any more hacking or data privacy invasions than any of the US companies. Anything with an app is a potential risk
I’d go with an older Xiaomi 2 or 3 for approximately the same price. Still rocking my 2 after at least 18 months - working like a charm. Have had to replace the band a few times (super cheap replacements from China on ebay)
I have a different idea for the joke image. The 3rd image has “I Can’t Wait!” as a text. I think Dora the Explorer should have been in the joke image because I hear her say that in a commercials ALL … DAY … LONG.

@hchavers
p.s. I think it does break down heart rate by the hour, but it also has an optional feature that breaks down marriages by the minute.
(I stepped away while editing my previous comment and meh locked me out, so just pretend this was part of the previous comment)

I’m jumping on the DON’T BUY bandwagon.

Seems appropriate that my 365th consecutive Meh is for something truly meh-worthy
@richmondhokie happy Meh-niversary
It’s “restaurateur”, no “n”.
Please sell a for band that will actually sync to Strava.
glad MEH has made shopping for enemies so easy…
lots of ‘do-not-buys’ here.

@redshift If I wasn’t expecting it to hack my phone… Do you know of one with a pulse oximeter that is good?
