@shahnm LIEESSSS!!! Staycations usually involve some sort of work such as cleaning garages, laundry and yard work! vacation at least involves some sort of alcoholic beverage and minimal movement for a set amount of time before reality calls u back…
We have not been on a family vacation in over 12 years. We work our butts off, save what we can, but we never seen to go because other life stuff always seems to pop up and ruin it, so we stay home, do things around the house and try to do a couple of day trips. I wouldn’t know how to act if we went somewhere more than 50 miles from our place…
We like to have a staycation in another location. We’ll go to the beach, but literally do nothing but sit around or go to the beach. It’s nice to not a have plan and to not be busy, busy, busy…run, run, run. That’s not a vacation to me.
We last went on a weekend vacation about five or six years ago over 4th of July to a friend’s house in Denver. The last traveling vacation was in 2010 when we went to Taiwan. We’re off this week but we’re staying home. Our nephew is coming to stay with us so he and my husband can play video games all night and sleep till noon.
99% of the time, staycation. like literally staying at home, not “vacationing” in my own city or some shit like that.
buuuuuut i do look forward to the one week a year we spend in a cute hotel on the beach (still less than an hour from home though i also checked out a place that would be more like two hours away), and i would love someday to get to go to a toy con, like dcon or five points fest. the ones in the uk & thailand look awesome too but that might be too stressful for me. i’m a homebody and don’t really travel that well.
@squeegy63 I’ll be right behind you, soon. Just have to sort/pack/purge/store, remodel the bathroom, tear out the carpet and redo the hardwood floors, and paint. Oh, and put the house on the market. I feel like leaving by the end of September might not be feasible but it’s my goal.
I’m not even working. We’re going away on a Monday & Tuesday next week thanks to credit cards & unemployment insurance. (and we were only recently reissued credit cards because we’re no longer losers.) So voting between the two I chose this one so I could make a damned comment and tell the world wtf is going on because yeah that’s what everybody came here to read. My sad angry comments about this absurd voting widget thing but I’m not doing that much and it’s actually kinda nice outside so I’ll stop writing this endless comment and just tap the button over there. Happy Summer!!
I moved to the Pacific Northwest a few years ago, and there’s so much great stuff to see here. Add to that the fact I’m not a big fan of travel overall, and I find myself doing long weekend trips to the coast, central OR, or up to Vancouver, BC.
A lot of my friends give me grief because I have a life situation where I could pretty easily do international travel (for starters, I get six weeks of vacation a year), but I just don’t really have a desire to do it. So I do local road trips or simply stay home and do fun stuff in the city.
The only time I see that changing is if I have an SO who really wants to travel and our joint incomes/work situations make it that much more attractive.
