Spider-Man: Far From Home
9I had the pleasure of seeing an early screening of FFH last night. Trippy… very, very trippy. Plenty of great one liners as usual, with some good tie-ins to the Avengers universe. Maybe not quite as good a story line as SM: Homecoming but still entirely entertaining. Jacob Batalon and Zendaya are great sidekicks. Jon Favreau is his usual wonderful self. I’ve decided Tom Holland is far and away my favorite Spidey. As great as Tobey Maguire is, I never really loved his portrayal. He was so dismal and full of angst. And Andrew Garfield, well, at least those movies had Emma Stone. Do you have a favorite? As always, stay for the after-the-credits scene. It’s a good one!

You lucky dog!! I love Homecoming, honestly because of the friendly neighborhood feel. I think the only hesitation I’ve felt about this one is that it will lack that vibe. And Tom is just perfect, on and off screen. I always get burned for this, but Tobey was only a good Peter, not a good Spidey. Tom has it all.
@KittySprinkles It was kind of crazy. I’ve been to a few screenings before, the last one being Ready Player One, but the security for this one was by far the most stringent. Not only were phones (or any kind of recording devices) not allowed in, they said they were using infrared cameras to keep an eye on everyone and make sure they weren’t recording.
@cinoclav Damn, they were not playing. I’m surprised they’re even letting Holland in public.
@cinoclav @KittySprinkles I was fortunate enough to see one of the LOTR’s movies at a screening and it was the same. We had to turn our phones OFF, they had that wand thing and then a pat down. It was absolutely crazy!
@KittySprinkles @tinamarie1974 Yep, they also had metal detector wands.
Lol - Tom Holland does like to spill the beans, doesn’t he? I like how people were just upset at his Endgame comments. If you haven’t seen it by now and haven’t heard anything, you probably deserve a few spoilers.
@cinoclav by the way, I hope in that early screen on Ready Player One, when they asked for feedback you told them it was lame in a movie all about Easter eggs to not have anything post credits: Easter egg, Ferris-type “nothing to see here,” Card saying “ha! We got you to sit thru the credits,” SOMETHING!
@cinoclav I actually miss the days when we could all excitedly talk online about a movie or tv show. Now, people cry spoilers long after something’s been released and it kills the vibe of excitement we used to get. Grumble grumble kids these days stay off my lawn.
@mollama Actually, none of the screenings I’ve ever been to have asked for any kind of feedback afterward. Guess it really doesn’t matter at that point.
I recently scored a nice movie ticket discount and set it aside just for this. I love Tom as Spidey/Peter.
Falcon: “I don’t know if you’ve been in a fight before, but there’s not usually this much talking.”
Spider-Man: "Alright, sorry. My bad.”

@mollama He really does play the perfect dorky, over anxious teenager.
@mollama My husband is hands down the biggest fan of Spider-Man I’ve ever seen. He almost lost it when we went to Civil War. He went from stoic 33 year old to flapping 5 year old the second they showed NY. We then saw it 3 more times in four days. We’ve seen anything with Spider-Man in it at least three times opening week. It’s hilarious…and expensive.

We loved ‘Into the Spider-verse’. Not sure how soon we’ll see FFH
@compunaut One of the best.
Looking forward to seeing another actor playing his full role as “Spidey”, and soon, too.
Well @cinoclav we saw it last night and I’m surprised to say, it’s absolutely fantastic and I put it right up there with Homecoming. I think, I will have to watch again to really be sure. There are a couple things I found mildly off, but the humor was spot on and it just felt good through and through. A+
@KittySprinkles A very well rounded movie I thought. They all have those moments that make you scratch your head for a second. And that ending!
@cinoclav I’m having some serious feelings about that ending and need another movie like now. I used to not be a big fan of Spider-Man, I liked him and all but wasn’t over the top for him. Their recent efforts have changed that for me.

@cinoclav You know what, I think I can get with this list. Holland is to resurrecting Spider-Man what RDJ was to resurrecting the entire comics-based film fever we have going on. Without him I don’t know that it would’ve gone nearly so well. Plus, the kid is a damn gymnast and it shows, even when scenes are heavily CGI.
@KittySprinkles Agreed. Even ignoring the Spider-verse, they got it right with the live action Spideys.
@cinoclav They did, but I’ll say that Into The Spider-verse is probably the best. I just have trouble truly committing to that because of Holland.
