@Yakuman Actually, we sell it where I work. It's $129.99...and on sale it was $99.99. And, ours is all white, and doesn't have the clear windows this one appears to have.
if this is what you can do w/ a cellphone, I'm doubly glad I don't have a cellphone. I really need to stop staying up to see what the new, utterly worthless POS is.
I'm embarrassed by how bad I want this. This is price just a bit too high to trigger an automatic impulse buy, but I'm definitely going to be checking in a few more times over the next 24 hours and see if the forum tempts me or turns me away.
@Superjimtendo I said "meh" last night, then click click bought it today. I'm sure the dogs/cat won't care. Never more have I thought "What did I just do?"
Weird, this is the first meh where the price checks are all off. Front page says AZ is $140, this page says $129.99 and all the sphero price checks links are to a different price on AZ.
I love my Sphero. Of course, I paid less with my employee discount at my job for a new one...but then this one seems to have a clear part that mine does not. Half tempted to buy this one too...but I think one is enough! Although, my cats hate it enough to almost warrant a second one. I could use both my iPod touch, and my iPhone and have two rolling around and terrifying them...hmmmm
@SavvySapphire my cats have gotten to the point they shy away from anything ball-shaped because of the sphero. it's one thing when they chase a ball- but when the ball stops and chses them, or just sneaks up on them when they're asleep- priceless.
Bought it because I thought my dog would love chasing it, as many video online seemed to imply. Thought it would be a fun way to engage her. Turns out it scared her. She just barked at it, then pawed at it until the nubby cover came off, then took that away and tried to chew it up, all while ignoring the glowing dancing orb.
So can I just buy like 20 of the covers? Because she really seems to like those.
@halnwheels I suppose that depends on the laser. Even still, my cat is just slightly too smart for a laser. but something he can actually touch and catch should entertain either him or my family enough to justify this price. I do miss my Roomba though.
Would be great if the control was a reliable precise mhz signal via a handheld joystick, not some smeary glass screen with shotty Bluetooth sputterbutter.
I had the 1.0 version of this and loved it w kids and animals. I got 2.0 on meh and apart from a brief snafu LOVE IT. Sure, it's not cheap, but it is fast and fun and - for me - totally worth it. I keep it in my car and people who have kids or animals love it.
I like the idea that the product is completely open source (at least they say it is), so if you like to tinker, you could make it do anything you want,
@tentalces1349 on a meh serious note, if you could somehow integrate a Kinect into one and then be able to map areas quickly like the 'pups' in Prometheus
Seems cool, especially if i were a programmer since apparently there are apis for it.
I want one that's white and the size of a cue ball and doesn't light up. And can take being hit with a cue stick. Because a remote controlled cue ball could make me a bit of cash before it got me beat and left in the alley behind the pool hall.
I would have bought this at $49, i think. $39 would have been a definite purchase. I passed at $68 (which is still a great price) because it was too much to justify an impulse buy.

Dear gods. No.
Oh look, a $68 pet rock.
Meh.
A remote controlled ball? OH MY GOD MEH.
@BootlegCraig I had a remote-controlled ball (with an R/C controller, of course, not a smart phone) 25 years ago. It was fun for about 20 minutes.
Baby arm compatible!!!!!
$68 bucks for that thing is full retail on a display in the mail. At Meh, I'd pay maybe $10 for it. Better $5.
@Yakuman BOOM! HEADSHOT!
@Yakuman Actually, we sell it where I work. It's $129.99...and on sale it was $99.99. And, ours is all white, and doesn't have the clear windows this one appears to have.
@Yakuman was that for 1.0 or 2.0?
No. >:(
But the socks were really great. So kind.
Yay, still not cheap enough, so MEH.
if this is what you can do w/ a cellphone, I'm doubly glad I don't have a cellphone.
I really need to stop staying up to see what the new, utterly worthless POS is.
@ekw if you had a cellphone, you could stay in bed to check meh and not have to stay up.
@jzmacdaddy pretty sure I would still be awake, just horizontal instead of seated.
So what's the difference between this and the one they offered on January 5th? https://meh.com/deals/sphero-limited-edition-2-0-with-nubby-cover
Answer: Nothing
@cengland0 Leftover stock saturday!
my cats hate this f'n thing.
...kinda my fault.
I bought this thing last time, and played with it a few times. It works well and is decently fast, but I haven't touched it in weeks. Meh...
LOOK! This WILL get you laid at the bar! I'm in for a dozen!

@Stallion I'd rather do it in private.
@Stallion So... your plan is to lure women in by telling them to come check out your glow-in-the-dark balls?
Yeah, I'd fall for that. :)
@Stallion " Trust me Girl, you've never seen some balls move like this!"
@Stallion The other two are in her shirt.
Oh the drugs I would have to take to make this interesting for more than two minutes.
I'm embarrassed by how bad I want this. This is price just a bit too high to trigger an automatic impulse buy, but I'm definitely going to be checking in a few more times over the next 24 hours and see if the forum tempts me or turns me away.

How about we buy 535 of these for Congress? And send a couple of them over to the White House? It'll keep them occupied.....
In for one. My wife and both our daughters have iOS devices, so we can each take turns driving our cat crazy with this thing.
@linkyarmer Cheaper than a Roomba, more than a laser!
@halnwheels I suppose that depends on the laser. Even still, my cat is just slightly too smart for a laser. but something he can actually touch and catch should entertain either him or my family enough to justify this price. I do miss my Roomba though.
Best part: RC ball
Worst part: smartphone remote
Would be great if the control was a reliable precise mhz signal via a handheld joystick, not some smeary glass screen with shotty Bluetooth sputterbutter.
@icerc Had one of those 25 years ago. It wasn't any more fun.
This looks big enough to horrify my cats. Get me a tiny one they'd chase and I'd be in.
Not again! Maybe for like $15... Everything old is new again, right? About to cancel VMP
@robson But think of the socks!
ThinkGeek is selling it for $129.99 plus extra for the nubby cover. http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ed94/
It's a good deal for somebody, not really my thing, but for somebody else.
MEH!! Apps Scare Me..

Debating whether my cat will love and chase this, or be terrified by it and cower in fear.
@Dorkfish92 terrified and cower.
miraculous-testy-cart

@darksaber99999 giggidy.
halp meh! ape doi!

Maybe for $10
This would be cool if I didn't have a GD Windows Phone!
@MehDave Well while apparently not from "sphero" per se there are a few windows phone apps to control it, including this one being pushed by sphero itself. http://www.gosphero.com/blog/windows-phone-love-unofficial-sphero-app-now-available/
So I would say its safe to add Windows Phone to the main page as a supported device. Listening Meh?
I was really tempted to buy this the first time, but I resisted. Now I have to go through the torment again.
I know my nephew would love this. On the other hand I'm saving my money for a big trip and really shouldn't splurge...
nubby cover. why does that make me think sex toy?
@baqui63 this does not make a good sex toy.
@alacrity I didn't think that it does. but the name... nubby cover...
I had the 1.0 version of this and loved it w kids and animals. I got 2.0 on meh and apart from a brief snafu LOVE IT. Sure, it's not cheap, but it is fast and fun and - for me - totally worth it. I keep it in my car and people who have kids or animals love it.
Got one last time and had a BALL with it. Everyone in the house seemed to love it all AROUND. I would CIRCLE the dog or cat and they both attack.
This is a very good deal, just this isn't something I want unfortunately. I almost wish it were the ollie instead but I'd still struggle to buy it
What are the dimensions of this ball?
Could it fit under my sofa where my roomba can't, and maybe drag a swiffer pad with it or something?
I like the idea that the product is completely open source (at least they say it is), so if you like to tinker, you could make it do anything you want,
Quoted from: http://www.doseofdigital.com/2014/03/initial-impressions-sphero-20-worst-digital-age/
"I was remarking to a few folks at the office that I was surprised that it didn’t have a camera, as it can be hard to pilot around walls. One of our admins remarked that if it had a camera, people would use it for upskirt pics. Fair point."
Challenge accepted....
@tentalces1349 on a meh serious note, if you could somehow integrate a Kinect into one and then be able to map areas quickly like the 'pups' in Prometheus

No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
I love gadgets so I had to have one.
I don't know for sure, but I think this is the first item in a long time to have under 100 comments.
I would have bought this at $49, i think. $39 would have been a definite purchase. I passed at $68 (which is still a great price) because it was too much to justify an impulse buy.
