Speaking of Hamilton
9We all have fantasies. If yours include six tickets to ‘Hamilton’, backstage passes, hotel rooms, round trip airfare etc., you might want to check this out. It’s a pretty powerful political statement, too. https://www.prizeo.com/prizes/lin-manuel-miranda/the-ultimate-hamilton-experience-as-a-guest-of?utm_campaign=ultimatehamiltonexperience&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=twitter

Done, thx.
The Hamilton tickets in NYC alone are worth like $2,000
@jbartus Yup. I agonized over whether to share my link, the one that gives me an additional entry for everyone who clicks on it, but Santa is watching so I didn’t.
@OldCatLady everyone who clicks or everyone who clicks and donates?
@jbartus Dunno. I never get away with anything, though, so I decided to take the high road.
@OldCatLady
Wish you had shared your link. Pls do.
@OldCatLady I agree with @f00l, I’ll follow the link with your name on it!
@smigit2002 I can’t find it!
@OldCatLady
Check your email, it’s in there.
Here is mine
http://email.prizeo.com/c/eJwNjb0KwjAYAJ-mWaTh-zF_QwYXB8HNF0jShgY0LW0q0qe3cDfcdINPpE0WxSNpAmOcVhLZsMSrReUYgcg5-Qjf8AzlLfe417Z3VyhLj9ATqx7J9UQgJh9HhWiSikx5hMhDdjYNPATIIQXrxNtPrS1bx7eO7ifLWo5xlmn-nLGe2l9lu4nV51LPydb2ZZKxHKL51xrqFlIrc710xFozIPwByDQ3dA
But don’t use mine, use @OldCatLady’s if she posts it in this thread.
The point of using such a link - both you, and the person whose link you used, get automatic extra entries that way.
@OldCatLady, if you post your link, I’ll make another small donation.
So please dig they your emails. Thx!
@jbartus I wish. Tickets got up that high 6 months ago, but average ticket is much less. i bought 2 tickets (for a few months from now) for ~500
@MrGlass I’m not sure where you’re looking but for anyone not planning their trip 6 months out they’re considerably higher. The cheapest seats available between now and January 15 are like 800 bucks in NYC.
@jbartus I bought them direct when they went on sale. But my point is the truly unprecedented ticket prices hamilton had were before the original cast left.
@MrGlass and my point is that it’s still the hardest show to get into and it still costs a fortune if you’re not lucky enough to know you want to go several months ahead of time such that you can buy them direct.
@f00l And here I thought I knew everything. Thanks. My very own link:

@OldCatLady
Made a second donation using your link. Thx.
no thanks, not a supporter of abortion rights
@mymehusername Tell us more about how you hate women.
@mymehusername - Really surprised and saddened by this comment when I saw your other usernames. https://meh.com/forum/topics/instant-pot-recipes--recipes-and-moar-recipes#57bd2c7b76454b6006f70c70
@mymehusername I’m not sure if you realize that Planned Parenthood does a lot of good at actually preventing pregnancy so people don’t need to have abortions.
Even if they outlaw abortions, women will still have them. They’ll either go somewhere that allows them, or they’ll try to do at home abortions where they end up putting their own lives at risk. Having people punch them in their stomach, coat hangers, etc. I guess it’s a good thing that county hospitals will fix them up when they’re bleeding to death.
@armchair Tell us more about how easy it is to create a strawman instead of discuss the actual issue.
@RiotDemon If someone believes that abortion is murder, do you really think that saying “but oh, they do all these good things” will really make up for it?
@clapointe24 no. Just like I can’t convince someone that thinks birth control of any kind is a sin, that maybe they shouldn’t have 19 babies.
@RiotDemon In 1970 or 71, the nuns came in to class and said…tomorrow you can go protest, in uniform, in front of Rockefellers office in Manhattan. (against the legalization of abortion). We said, instead of going to class? Nun said, yes. So, the next day we were protesting! Except for a small problem…if anyone had interviewed us, we would have told them this…
“we have a system in our school. You get a phone call to bring in $5 the next day. Someone collects it. That day someone in the class had an abortion.” We were totally pro abortion!
In the shadow of president-elect Fuckface von Clownstick (search for that + Jon Stewart) I just set up a monthly donation to Planned Parenthood. (A couple weeks ago I set up a monthly donation to the ACLU.) I suppose I can afford another one-time donation of twenty-five bucks. But I think I have a better chance of winning Super Lotto than I do of winning this contest.
Done.
@SSteve - Donating to Planned Parenthood in Pence’s name, so he’ll get the thank you every month. (Except not for this contest, though it would be pretty funny if he got the Hamilton tix).
@SSteve I’m asking your wife to thank you VERY MUCH for me. I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to interpret that.
Now you have less of a chance of winning now that you told me about it. Thanks!
done. if i win, i’ll take one lucky 'mehrican with me.
@carl669
What puzzles me is, OK someone needs an abortion. How does that hurt you? It doesn’t.
The people who are the most against it, are the same people who are against food stamps, public housing and everything that might help a child.
Pro life till birth.
@smilingjack people whose religious convictions say that it is immoral and feel that it is their God-given duty to evangelize their beliefs to non-believers are against it. It’s a religious matter, not political, and while it may be true that the bulk of the people who hold such beliefs are members of the political party that is traditionally against many of those programs it’s not exclusive and your accusations are incredibly misplaced.
This kind of black and white jingoistic labeling of groups and wholesale ascription of beliefs is exactly why Hillary and the rest of the Democratic party lost their asses in this election. You will not get people to come to your side through this presumptive bullshit where “you disagree with me on this one position” automatically becomes “you believe X, Y, Z, A, B, C, Q, R, and S even though you’ve never said anything to me about any issue other than X”. Seriously.
If you can tell me with a straight face that you agree with every single official position of the party you support on every single issue then I guess I should congratulate you, but I’d be willing to bet almost everything that you’re in the minority if it’s even something you can say. People affiliate themselves with the party with which they have the most in common, not the party that’s a carbon copy of their beliefs. We don’t have enough political parties in this country to have one that caters to every possible permutation of beliefs even if you include the so-called independent parties. There is diversity of belief within every party, quit using such broad fucking strokes.
Just to be clear, I am not a Democrat and yet I believe in a woman’s right to choose, I believe that anyone should be able to use whatever bathroom makes them feel the most comfortable and that people should be able to marry the person they love, no matter their gender, race, or other so-called ‘discriminating factor.’ Food stamps are great for those who need them but it’s a broken system that needs serious reform and I think housing assistance is a great program that again suffer from abuse, but I do believe that these issues are solvable. Your ‘help a child’ bit was so vague that I don’t dare to address it directly but I think I’ve made my point, go take your brush and paint a fence or something.
Last day to enter this contest, and they just announced there will be not one, but two winners!
Hamilton contest link
Thanks, @OldCatLady!
@OldCatLady
@KDemo
I presume I won both the Gramd Prizes, right?
@f00l - Hmmm. Not yet, but if you entered with a pseudonym and your nom de plume, you could.
@f00l
/8ball Did @f00l win Hamilton tickets?
It is decidedly so
@OldCatLady
@f00l Have you and @carl669 been driunking? Because you probably won the Gramd Prize.
@OldCatLady
Not drumk. Just typing while in erroneous and blithe headspace.
It’s not over until it’s over. ‘…The winner will be selected at random, notified by email and announced on the Prizeo website within a few days of campaign close…’
