@Pony@simplersimon Good friend of mine keeps a couple backpacks with street essentials in her car to give out to some of those folks in our city. Always thought it was a great idea.
@hanzov69@simplersimon I used to keep odds and ends of cold weather stuff in my truck that I would hand out to people who looked like they needed them. Sometimes it can really make someone’s day a lot better.
@magic_cave@Pony@simplersimon You know, I feel like the buying power of meh for low cost items coupled with the mehn and womehn of this site there is a charitable opportunity here…
Would not accept it if it were anything related to the Dora the Explorer franchise…you know because fuck Dora the Explorer! Or if it were made by Sketchers.
I help with a school supply drive every fall. If it is not appropriate for some odd reason for a kid between k and high school or I dont want it then I would not take it. But yeah you could give me a pallet full of kid appropriate backpacks and I would use them in the fall.
We have somewhere between 5 and 8 backpacks around the house (wife hid a couple), both computer and hiking kinds. Don’t need any more. But I like the idea of giving a free one to a charitable cause.
oddly bright yellow & neon green would be two dealMAKERS for me. i like my possessions either all black or obnoxious tennis ball. seriously!
but in the end it would depend on what the bag looked like. it could be my favorite color and still be fugly and/or just not something i could use. i don’t take shit just bc it’s free.
Anything but black/grey, and even then, I might still pass.
I already have quality backpacks that range from an Adidas sackpack to an Osprey Atmos 65 hiking pack, so it would have to fill a niche in there better than what I already have.
I walk around software conferences being offered free stuff pretty regularly, and I learned a long time ago that 95%+ of what’s given away isn’t worth taking.
Lemme change my answer: if it’s free, I’m taking it. I can always gift the thing. Of course, if it’s all busted and old, then all I’m doing is hauling garbage for somebody else. The OP doesn’t say it has to be new. Lemme change my answer again: what I do is contingent upon too many variables to list here.
I’d take it and give it to one of the homeless people that camp out near the “downtown” area in our city.
@Pony ooh, nice plan. I’ll keep this in mind for all the free crap my company passes out.

@hanzov69 @Pony @simplersimon I suspect it makes your day as well.
@magic_cave Well, yeah, of course, but that’s not the important part.

Poorly made. If it clearly won’t last the week, I won’t bother.
Can always have a use of a free backpack!
Its less about the color and more of getting over the shock that someone would give me a free backpack in the first place.
It’s what on the inside that counts, or what is trying to get out.
Kind of really want an argyle backpack…
@hanzov69 Just not a pink argyle backpack for me
Is it full of stolen toothbrushes?
@Ignorant - Is that a deal breaker?
@aetris nope just need to know if I need to keep it on the DL.
MAGA is a deal breaker.
@mike808 you misspelled “maker.” Just thought you’d like a heads up. Probably too late to edit the post though.
Zubaz.
@Nate311 I have Bills yoga pants in that pattern now.
@Nate311 I immediately assumed that picture was from the early 1990’s before I saw the message on the shirt (indicating it was taken 2014 or after).
Is that Justin Verlander in the center?
@DrWorm @Nate311 I don’t know if it’s just me, but that pattern makes them look oddly shaped.
@Nate311 ugh…that picture just gave me an instant headache.

I don’t think I’d want a clear one. I don’t need people to know that I’ve got nothing to hide.

Bright colors would make it hard for someone to steal your backpack. Too easy to see.
