Some times it's the little things.
47So today has not been a good day. But every once in a while it is the little things that make you remember what is important.
Sitting in my office, my son came up from playing outside - handed me this simple simple flower, and said "I love you, Daddy". He then gave me a hug and a kiss and left as quickly has he had come in.
Happens everyday, I know. But on this one particular day I found myself appreciating just how important these singular moments are.
That's it - I have nothing more. Nothing cute, or funny, or groundbreaking - just this. Take it for what it's worth.

We all need more "little things" in our lives. You are a very lucky man, @mfladd.
@Barney thanks my purplish friend. I also edited at the last minute and noticed a couple of typo's as usual (too late to catch). Seems appropriate - I find life a typo sometimes. And then there is a flower to make it right.
The little things are there to remind us that the bad days aren't meant to last. Even when we are neck deep in it and feeling life we want to shut the world out, they are there to give us something beautiful to hold on to.
What you've got in your hand right there is real love, @mfladd my friend.
Awww, I love you too, @mfladd.
@KDemo @jaremelz @Barney (and everyone who starred this)
I guess it is just the fact that he saw this flower and was moved enough to give it me as a gesture of love. In that single moment I was moved. Because children see the world differently than we do. In a way I try to - but it isn't the same.
Perhaps we all need to see the simple flowers differently.
Sappy - I know. But I don't care. And I will maim the first person who calls me out on it.
Kids learn from example; obviously he has seen you do sappy gestures!
@mikibell you realize from the above post (calling me out) I will have to maim you now. Sorry, them be the rules ;)
@mfladd Go ahead, but according to the oxford dictionary, I did not call you out :)
Dan had called her out on a couple of contradictions in her story
@mikibell you called me out with being human and caring in public. :)
I know I said I had to maim you, but I will now being taking the entire limb and making it into an alarm clock - my apologies.

@mfladd you don't scare me...in the slightest. I married the youngest son of a woman whose favorite phrase is: "Come closer so I can rip your arm off and beat you with the bloody stump!"
That's what she said.
Sorry - couldn't resist.
Seriously though . . . that's not a little thing. That's a huge part of you, reflected by him. Be proud, Dad. You're doing great . . . And he didn't even come with an instruction manual. See how good you can do just wingin' it?
@Pavlov Thank you. Glad you are back :)

(damnit, the hot tub would have made me look better)
@mfladd

@jaremelz
Cherish these moments. Kids grow up way too fast.
This kid dressed up as a fart for halloween.

Sorry, it was getting too sappy up in here.
