So you want cheap FPV goggles, dontcha?
0Ok, I'm debating whether or not to get the skyzone 2D v2 glasses or their latest 3D v2 glasses. The latter comes with stereo camera and dual output transmitter (one for each eye). It also has a 2D mode and a DVR. I'm more interested in the 2D aspect of FPV'ing cuz when you're up in the sky, 3D effect isn't gonna impress anyone. The old model is a tad under $400 and the latest model is $529.
I'm chatting with the guy I bought my devo f12e remote from about selling his walkera goggles. He's gonna get rid of them for $75, which is not bad, but it doesn't not come with eyecups or case.
I was searching and found these glasses:

Has anyone tried these glasses? I can hook the input to the bascom receive I have or the devo f12e (will this work @ruouttaurmind on the devo f12e with a standard video jack?)

Buy cheap and you get what you pay for. Just my $0.02 worth :). How long does the battery last on this? I'm guessing it must charge via the AV IN when not in use as a display, as I don't see any other charging location(s).
@DJMajickMan In this picture of the kit, it appears the item they are refering to as the "control box" may contain the battery. As the kit also includes a USB cable, I'm guessing you charge it from any standard USB power supply. So power could be taken from the F12e, or the ground station battery (with the appropriate BEC cable inline) to provide extended service life.
@DJMajickMan batteries: 2-4 hrs? Not bad
The F12e has a CVBS jack on the bottom. You need a 3.5mm to RCA connector for video. It's likely the 3.5mm to RCA cable that comes with the goggles (or the one that probably came with your Boscam RX?) will work, but that's just a guess. CVBS is a fancy way of saying "composite video" so the signal is compatible with any display device that accepts composite video input.
There is a headphone/audio out jack there as well.
@ruouttaurmind boscam uses 2.5mm. Still debating to get the Walkera for $75. I can use the money to offset my skyzones purchase.
@garyhgaryh If the Walkera is the first version, I doubt you'll be able to find eyecups for it. I don't think it'll be a good visual experience without them. If it's the newer version, jump on them. I'm sure you can find eye cups. If not, it's still a bargain at that price. Can the guy text you a pic of them or something?
@ruouttaurmind It's this one: http://www.amazon.com/OBOSS-Original-Walkera-Glasses-Transmitter/dp/B00W7UES6I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432078937&sr=8-2&keywords=walkera+goggles
@garyhgaryh That's about twice the price they were originally sold at. I believe they were permenantly discontinued by Walkera in favor of the newer model that has a built-in RX.
@ruouttaurmind Thanks. I looked last night and didn't find eyecups for that model.
@garyhgaryh, BTW, the Walkera goggles, if they're the first version, are basically a decent quality version of the same configuration.

@ruouttaurmind how does the f7 compare to the f12e?
@garyhgaryh 7ch vs. 12 ch. and a 3.5" display on F7 vs 5" on F12e, better antennas on F12e
@ruouttaurmind Yup, looks like the same ones. I heard people say those glasses suck. Is that true? Sounds like you have positive things to say about them. The resolution is 480x234 or thereabouts.
@garyhgaryh I do not have personal experience using them, only what I have read. If I could find them for around a hundred bucks I'd definitely take a chance on them. My impression of Walkera products so far has been good. Everything is solid and well built. Maybe not at the same level as DJI, but surely 90% there.
@ruouttaurmind Thanks for the info! I'll decide tonight.
@garyhgaryh f7 has much lower output power (7mw?) from what I've read. What i was reading says it is mostly for micro helis and stuff you wouldn't fly far away.
@djslack I'll buy that. Between the higher output power and better antennas I'm betting the F12e has significantly better range. F12e also has telem function I don't think F7 supports.
