@f00l Yeah, cats. That was one of my excuses for not doing paperwork. Sagwa was laying on my desk, pushing my keyboard off of it.
Then I found my brand new Meh pillow on the floor in the other room. Husband says “some cat peed on it”. My brand new Meh pillow. Check the label “spot wash”…damn it.
@lisaviolet Well you don’t have much to lose by spot washing the entire thing via a full sink of water and then carefully squeezing the water out while wrapped in a towel… just sayin’
Watching the new snowstorm in NW PA out the window. I am sitting with a cat sprawled across my lap. I should be paying bills, cleaning house, constructive type things but later sounds better.
@Targaryen Do you work remote normally or are you just that dedicated?
@speediedelivery Didn’t you guys just get 5 feet of snow the other day? Where are you going to put it all. My suggestion is Canada.
I work at the HQ, but I’m working remote trying to catch up a bit since we’re behind. The sooner we catch up the sooner we can get on to more creative tasks for Mediocre.
@Targaryen Yes, we haven’t finished cleaning up from the last storm. My house seems to be missing most of the snow this round. I think around 10 new inches so far. Canada sounds good, we can push it into the lake and drag it north.
Party at my house for New Years, bring your own shovel.
In the can’t make this stuff up department, one of the big dump truck snowplows got stuck on a side street and had to be pulled out. A local roofing company had the roof cave in last night. The roofing place has been clearing snow to prevent this happening elsewhere. Nobody hurt in either incident.
@speediedelivery I mean if you have enough beer I might get drunk enough shovel… I dunno.
Yeah, it sucks my brother actually does plowing for state in Mass. Big ass storms like this he’ll be driving for days. Good money but bad for life basically lol. Two years ago I think, they had that ridiculous amount of snow in Mass and he was driving for 3-5 days straight almost just sleeping and plowing.
I just got back from running some errands and taking the dogs to the dog park. It’s 72 here and relentlessly sunny. The park was thronged with dogs, my guys ran themselves out. I’m scarfing down some Burger King before razoring up the sticky sealant the contractors dropped on the floor and razoring off last year’s car registration and applying the new one. Then cleaning out the car because Zephyr puked in it as usual. This time he almost perfectly targetted the oil change pan I put on the floor, yay! Then I’m going to see the Shape of Water with friends, to dinner afterwards and back here for tea and cookies and probably to watch Bright, the new Will Smith fantasy movie on TV.
@moondrake 72? So you’re in Florida or California maybe? I know it’s not Texas because tonight or tomorrow we’re gonna be straddling the 32 degree line average for about the next 5 days.
What sort of house work did you have done? Renovation perhaps?
Get yourself one of those old person plastic seat things for your car?.. Or you’ve probably already thought of that.
I’m gonna watch that movie right after I get into Black Mirror season 4.
@Targaryen My half century old in floor heater gave out so I got a new HVAC installed. It’s been very luxurious having heat throughout the house instead of just within a few feet of the heater (I have the house open when the sun’s out but when it goes down the temp drops 30-40 degrees). It’s going to be a big change having refrigerated air instead of evaporative cooling in the summer.
I have a good quality canine car seat cover, but it doesn’t protect the floor. I can’t find anything for the floor that doesn’t make it too slippery, one lays on the seat, the other stands on the floor and hangs their head out the window, it’s the only way they both fit, lol. Even with the upholstery cover and the pan on the floor he usually manages to get some in between the cracks and in the seat belt mechanism. Poor boy. He’s getting better, but still not great.
Enjoying the last of my vacation by sitting at the eye doctor. This is an easy appointment. Picking glasses was hard because I still really like last years glasses.
@lisaviolet I can… But my insurance covers it, so might as well get some new ones. My old prescription isn’t that different so I can still wear them if I want.
Deleting all the email that Google recovered for me from the last thirty days after I downloaded it all to an old email client (and doing what I had it set to do, to delete all mails when they were downloaded) and when said email client wouldn’t send, overwrote all those emails with old information.
Lots of fun. Over four thousand pieces of mail in my gmail trash, but it wasn’t all trash. Yeah, ask me if I’m going to do that again.
@Targaryen I’m lucky that I can get new glasses every year. A few years ago I went ahead and got prescription sunglasses since my regular glasses were in really good shape.
I did a contact lens exam this time as well. Just what I figured, even astigmatism lenses are uncomfortable.
@lisaviolet contacts bother me in general. I have itchy, allergy eyes. I thought the astigmatism contacts would be better since I was wearing regular lenses and I have one eye with enough astigmatism that it matters. Apparently it doesn’t help. Still annoying. She ordered another set of trials I’ll pick up later in the week. Within an hour, I was ripping them out. This is why I get dailies. The boxes will probably last me until they expire.
Occasionally I like to wear contacts, so at least the dailies will be there for whenever that is.
@RiotDemon I don’t have to for the most part. I have gotten really good at cutting. But moral support would be nice. Maybe behind me in a cheerleaders outfit from the “smells like teen spirit” video
You would love the bedroom. It’s an eclectic mix of Gothic, Asian, and modern. The paint is this really goth twilight plum, that is slightly smokey.
@mfladd I don’t think they usually make those in my size, haha.
Once I buy a house, maybe this house, I’m totally painting it in gothic colors. I dreaded painting this place because I would of had to paint it normal when leaving. Now that it looks like I might be buying it, I’ve been thinking of how to turn it my own.
Relaxing at home in between the two parts of a split shift. I get to do it again tomorrow too. Also trying to psych myself up to go back out in the cold. Currently -1 but feels like -20.
Just finished having some extended family over; about to go check out what it will set me back to buy a PC to support the Oculus Rift my wife surprised me with for Christmas. Aka I just want to go to Best Buy and poke around. Unless they have something really good I will probably build something.
@Targaryen That’s what I’m checking out. I’ve been a laptop/phone/Chromebook/imac guy for years now, haven’t been in the gaming world in a while. If you know of something I should take a look at I’d be grateful for any pointers.
I’d like to stay under 1k, but would push that if it was worthwhile to do so. I’m by no means a hardcore gamer so good enough is good enough, but I don’t want to plunk down a chunk of money and have something that’s only good enough for 6 months.
@djslack I’m not a computer expert but you can can probably get away with a cheaper 1060 GTX it can handle VR, if you aren’t too picky AMD computers can shave a little more off. Stay away from Alienware and all that fancy crap. Just my opinion, if anyone else cares to chime in?
@Targaryen@f00l I let the best buy kid talk me into walking out with an AMD system. Ryzen 5 1400 with 8gb ram and an r580 (I believe) video card under $800. I know the processor isn’t the greatest and I’ll spend another hundred doubling the ram but I figured I don’t have to build it and if it doesn’t meet expectations I’ll just take it back. There was an hp i5 system with 1060 close in price but this rig appeared to be built with known parts vs hp’s proprietary parts, I thought that might get me more flexibility.
Sometimes a little instant gratification is ok. I look forward to some vr tomorrow.
@djslack I used the reddit PCMasterRace Builds page to help me decide what to put together for my first gaming build. I built the same system my friend had just bought at 2400, and i spent about 800. I love it! Good luck!!!
@mfladd I am cool with that! I stole the name from a nickname we have to my German shepherd. He will open his mouth, and arc his head side to side looking for something to hold in his mouth (bite is too strong to explain this thing he does) as he rolls around in his back being a dork. He looks like a gator stuck on his back. So we called him chompygator. When I decided to start trying to do youtube and twitch, i needed a name, and Denise, my name, was taken, but Rory’s nickname wasn’t. So here I am, chompygatoring around the internet.
It’s been in the 30-40 degree range lately, which qualifies as deep midwinter in FL. I dug out my stash of seriously warm clothes. cashmere sweaters & scarves, angora blend shawl, Irish wool knit stuff, scarves, gloves. Yum! They’ve mostly been boxed up since I moved here.
@Targaryen Yes, usually snowbirds or tourists. Yesterday there was a nor’easter, with cold needle-like rain, and I didn’t see anybody walking around in THAT.
@Targaryen I’m on the other side of Florida and farther south than @OldCatLady. It was 70° when I left the grocery store. I was plenty warm wearing pants and a t-shirt. I was walking behind a 20 something lady wearing a fur lined hooded jacket and knee high leather boots. It made me want to sweat. The sun was still out.
It’s 50 something right now and I was still only wearing pants and a light hoodie leaving the movie theatre. I did see plenty of people still wearing shorts.
@Targaryen Hey it has been oh, say 11 degrees here and yesterday I saw some dude in shorts. Today someone in a t-shirt with no jacket on brushing snow off his car. Of course I vaguely remember those college days only several hours from Buffalo NY, that high top converse (mine were purple) sneakers and no socks was the “thing”, despite the temperature or depth of the snow…
Did a trip to Costco and bought way too much Brown Sugga, and am now playing some PoE and trying to come up with good mad ape den lyrics for one of my fave songs.
I spent the day moving more crap from the old house to the new house, and then cleaning inside and out. We had friends over and had a cookout in the new house so we had to clear the drive way and get the grill area clean. Whoooo fun.
Sorry to hear re non-comfy chair.
I’m writing stupid things thru phone browser while sitting in car.
I should be running errands.
@f00l Yeah, it’s a true greek tragedy.
@f00l “I should” will be probably be most people’s story start lol.
@Targaryen
Technically, I am procrastinating.
I wish I were proCATstinating , though.
@f00l Ah yes, it is Caturday today isn’t it?
@f00l Yeah, cats. That was one of my excuses for not doing paperwork. Sagwa was laying on my desk, pushing my keyboard off of it.
Then I found my brand new Meh pillow on the floor in the other room. Husband says “some cat peed on it”. My brand new Meh pillow. Check the label “spot wash”…damn it.
Nap city.
@lisaviolet Sagwa? Is that a Korean name?
Cat pee on pillows “see, cats love us! -Meh”
@Targaryen Chinese. He came to us with that name.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagwa,_the_Chinese_Siamese_Cat
@lisaviolet Well you don’t have much to lose by spot washing the entire thing via a full sink of water and then carefully squeezing the water out while wrapped in a towel… just sayin’

I approve of the cat.

Get yourself one of those old person plastic seat things for your car?.. Or you’ve probably already thought of that.

@moondrake I need to finish Bright. Fell asleep 3/4 of the way through. Not the movie’s fault, was exhausted. Enjoyed that much of it though.
@moondrake 78° here. Nice.
@Targaryen I’m going to be binging Black Mirror very soon.
@Targaryen
@moondrake is in El Paso. 600 miles from DFW.
Weather in TX along the Rio Grande is nice right now v
@f00l …damn I moved to the wrong Texas then. I should have moved to West Texas.
@Targaryen
Or S Texas. Or the Valley.
(Beware of gators and hurricanes.)
But the tech bux are here. DFW and Austin.
@f00l Actually I really enjoy the San Antonio area, if I wasn’t living here I’d probably be there.
@Targaryen My half century old in floor heater gave out so I got a new HVAC installed. Enjoying the last of my vacation by sitting at the eye doctor. This is an easy appointment. Picking glasses was hard because I still really like last years glasses.
@RiotDemon Can’t you use the same frames? That’s what my mother-in-law did. And her old frames were old frames.
@lisaviolet I can… But my insurance covers it, so might as well get some new ones. My old prescription isn’t that different so I can still wear them if I want.

@lisaviolet That sounds like a fun afternoon. So, are you gonna do that again?
@Targaryen Not if I can help it. (I like having a new computer, but I hate the set up.) I sure felt like a dumb shit.
@lisaviolet
One of the many many reasons I so love email. Not.
@lisaviolet It does the same thing towhee you get a new phone like “here let me go ahead and forward all these contacts for you!” No…no NOOO! dammit.
@Targaryen I have like maybe seven contacts on my phone.
@RiotDemon Yeah, I’m probably going to do the same here soon. Need some new glasses.
@Targaryen I’m lucky that I can get new glasses every year. A few years ago I went ahead and got prescription sunglasses since my regular glasses were in really good shape.
I did a contact lens exam this time as well. Just what I figured, even astigmatism lenses are uncomfortable.

FUCKING PAINTING ROOMS! Shoot me…
@mfladd I’d help, but I’m sure you don’t want to pay for my ticket to get there.
@mfladd the color. Do you make housecalls?
@RiotDemon I just might.
@mfladd
Perfect.
@speediedelivery Sorry, no. Just no… I have been doing this for two days, all day. On a break.
@mfladd Well I mean if you’re painting like that yeah it’s gonna be a minute obviously lol.
@mfladd I even apply painters tape.
@mfladd Uhmm, there might be a faster way to apply paint. Less stylish maybe but…
Are the minions helping?
@RiotDemon I don’t have to for the most part. I have gotten really good at cutting. But moral support would be nice. Maybe behind me in a cheerleaders outfit from the “smells like teen spirit” video
You would love the bedroom. It’s an eclectic mix of Gothic, Asian, and modern. The paint is this really goth twilight plum, that is slightly smokey.
@speediedelivery No, unfortunately they are not around this weekend.
But applying it that way gives me a textured look!
@mfladd I don’t think they usually make those in my size, haha.

Congratulations on potentially taking on a constant source of ours, joy, misery, and expense!
Big step!
I am at a grilled cheese restaurant waiting to meet a friend
@CaptAmehrican but if it has something other than cheese isn’t it a melt?
We had a fun fondue with friends.
Relaxing at home in between the two parts of a split shift. I get to do it again tomorrow too. Also trying to psych myself up to go back out in the cold. Currently -1 but feels like -20.
@msklzannie Don’t fib, you’re playing Animal Crossing on your phone.
@sammydog01 Was but not currently. And wouldn’t that qualify as relaxing?
In the interest of full disclosure, relaxing also included watching Midsomer Murders on Netflix and taking a short nap (not at the same time).
Also waiting for WDW to release sale pricing for next May.
@msklzannie That would totally qualify as relaxing.
@msklzannie What is your job?
@Targaryen Usually cashier, but kitchen help this weekend.
Gaming and drinking coffee, what else?
@Cerridwyn What are you playing?
@Targaryen
Right now, a silly flash game I’m addicted to
Wartune it’s called. I play on one of the Kongregate Servers.
It’s social as much as a fantasy wargame. It’s Chinese in origin and the women all look like sluts, but it is what it is.
@Cerridwyn Nice, haven’t heard of that. I’ll go check it out.
Just finished having some extended family over; about to go check out what it will set me back to buy a PC to support the Oculus Rift my wife surprised me with for Christmas. Aka I just want to go to Best Buy and poke around. Unless they have something really good I will probably build something.
@djslack Not sure on your price point but there are some decent affordable PCs out there VR capable.
@Targaryen That’s what I’m checking out. I’ve been a laptop/phone/Chromebook/imac guy for years now, haven’t been in the gaming world in a while. If you know of something I should take a look at I’d be grateful for any pointers.

Hey @jbartus Thoughts re homebuilt gaming setup?
@Targaryen @f00l I let the best buy kid talk me into walking out with an AMD system. Ryzen 5 1400 with 8gb ram and an r580 (I believe) video card under $800. I know the processor isn’t the greatest and I’ll spend another hundred doubling the ram but I figured I don’t have to build it and if it doesn’t meet expectations I’ll just take it back. @ChompyGator This is all I can picture when I see your name.
@f00l my input send superfluous at this juncture. If anyone else wants to build though very happy to assist
@ChompyGator sounds like your friend got taken for a ride
@jbartus
That’s called “retail”.
PS wine.woot (gourmet.woot.com) has up, for its last day, a Wellington Victory combo.
And I think they still have a Wellington Port combo up on Woot Plus as well.
@f00l that’s worse than retail. It’s highway robbery.
@mfladd I am cool with that! I stole the name from a nickname we have to my German shepherd. @OldCatLady do you have those people rolling around in shorts and shirts like “its not that cold out guys…”
@Targaryen Yes, usually snowbirds or tourists. Yesterday there was a nor’easter, with cold needle-like rain, and I didn’t see anybody walking around in THAT.

Contemplating going out… but its like 20F out there… so…
It’s my birthday, and I went whale watching. It was amazing!!! We saw grey whales, tons of dolphins and three fin whales.
@ChompyGator

I spent the day moving more crap from the old house to the new house, and then cleaning inside and out. We had friends over and had a cookout in the new house so we had to clear the drive way and get the grill area clean. Whoooo fun.
I am STILL FUCKING PAINTING today! I severely underestimated how long it would take to paint cut the room Blame @therealjrn!
@mfladd pfft. Told you I’d help.
@RiotDemon Well, where the hell are you? And bring that sandwich - I am needy!
@mfladd you need to buy the plane ticket first, buddy.
@mfladd Who knew??? So sorry man, but it will look nice since you are taking your time.
@therealjrn It gets one coat of paint…that’s it. I don’t care how much the walls ask, it’s a no.
@mfladd Yeahbut what about a couple of months from now when you see you should have put two coats on? No time like the present!
@therealjrn Bitch! Don’t start that shit we me. It looks fine. That extra $35 is already allocated for other things. Money Mgmt.
@mfladd
You got that wrong.
It’s your HOUSE that is the bitch.
Perhaps you don’t think so now, but the years will tell.
You only think you are the owner in this relationship.
@mfladd lol ok, ok. There’ll probably be a GoaT around to blame later.
Last saturday I played Call of Duty: WWII 10 hours
This game is so addictive! https://gamebestnews.com/reviews/action/call-duty-wwii-review/
