The heat and humidity of summer finally starts to transition to something resembling pleasant. Soon will be able to wear long sleeve shirts without looking like a drowned rat.
@sjk3 I’m actually looking forward to “winter”. We really only have two seasons in SoCal. After the insane 90°+ October this year, I’m even loving waking up to the cold in the morning.
We have a couple “carving pumpkins” left over that never got carved. Anyone got tips on something to do with them ? Current frontrunner is “get a couple bales of straw for backstops and use the pumpkins as archery practice”
@2palms I think you’re supposed to cook them. Cut them up and roast the flesh. Blend it smooth and use it in all kinds of recipes – even spaghetti sauce.
You’d never know it was in there. Very healthy for humans and pets too!
@Kidsandliz@riotdemon Oh yes GOOD CALL I love me some roasted pumpkin seeds. Plus the toddler can “help”. Thanks y’all.
One is now officially an archery target (@timamarie aka leaving out for wildlife!) and the other is still in the pantry. We’ll get it split up tonight and do some roasting/salting.
I can turn the lights back on, whew.
Now what? Eat all the left over candy and play with fidget spinners.
Watch the battle between the department stores start Christmas sales and groceries fight back with Thanksgiving specials.
@hchavers, the annual money grab by retailers, isn’t it fun.
Continue enjoying the pumpkin recipes made by my family.

@RiotDemon that song features some really great scratching… they just don’t scratch vinyl like they did in the 80’s anymore.

@macromeh Yeah, now you’re talking! Any experience using the “grocery store carving pumpkins” instead of the smaller darker "pie
Thanks.
I also might try brining/roasting (dehydrating?) some pumpkin seeds. I have a Ninja Foodi around here somewhere
@2palms carving pumpkins are not good for eating.
My friend had three pumpkins that lasted 2 years inside the ac. Halloween he stuck witches hats on them. Thanksgiving he took the hats off.
You can always carve a turkey pattern or a “fall saying” into them.
@2palms bake the pumpkin seeds. Lots of seasoning
Christmas, obviously.
Curl up in the heated recliner, wrapped in a super soft and plush blanket, and then hibernate until the spring.
Cant wait to wear a hoodie!! So comfy!
Seen on a local sign.
