So Are We Stimulated Yet?
7
I received my electronic payment a few days ago. Fortunately I’m OK so far this month, at least so I put it into savings so I can get to it easily. I don’t have any plans to spend it, but I’ve heard of people using it to set up (or make better) their home offices, etc.
Have you people received your stimulus and do you have plans for it?

I think mine will come in the IRK.
I got mine on Wednesday. No plans for it yet. Just going to keep it in savings for now. Might use it to travel to the UK when all this is over.
Just got mine and my wife got hers last week
I got mine Wednesday… only thing I’m thinking of is possibly getting a bike… fresh air and exercise…
Nope. I owed this year. So even though I already paid, and out of the same bank account I’ve got refunds into for the past 15 years, they said they didn’t have enough info. I filled it all out last week, so I’m waiting.
My 2 daughters and husband all have theirs. My son does not. My son is the one living in Philly that has lost hours and is now furloughed, so the one that needs it the most didn’t get it. So I’ve sent him money as he’s asked. I’m sure I’ll be sending more this week. He just filed for unemployment, so who knows when he will see a check from anywhere.
@remo28 I’m in the same situation. Three years of having to deal with quarterly filings, but nope, they can’t even tell me if I’m qualified. I don’t even make enough money to get into reduced value, so it’s even more annoying.
We got ours and played off three bills.
Glad you mentioned that. I hadn’t checked my credit union account lately, and lo and behold… there it is. Ironically it got there on the 15th. The day I normally would have been sending the IRS a check… guess I’ll leave it there, and maybe parlay it into an IRA deposit which will instantly get me a 15% return on my investment when I take it off my taxes!
@chienfou Cool - a 15% return on your money when everything else has tanked. That is always good. Then if it turns out you actually need it later you can take it back out without penalty due to the gov suspending the penalty right now. Hopefully you won’t need to.
Got mine on the 15th and immediately wrote a check for the entire amount to MD Anderson. Hoping that payment, on top of what I have already given them recently (thank you to people who donated to my gofundme where someone created a thread on here with the url last November - I hadn’t been planning to post it here so was surprised) will be enough to let me keep my June apts.
I haven’t got mine yet and I’m ssdi so you think it would be real easy for them to direct deposit that shit.
I’ll take an IRK for 1200 dollars Alex
Yes.

No.
/giphy rainy day fund?
Got mine last week. Since I have been working through all of this, I donated mine to some struggling family members.
Got it, and bills, my wife lost her job.
Got mine on the 15th, we’ve been working and paid through all this so I split it up between the local community assistance groups, second harvest food bank, and the local medical workers support org.
@stolicat We haven’t gotten ours yet, but I’m still working from home and getting my paycheck. My youngest daughter is still a college student and falls in that gap group that doesn’t get any stimulus money, so $1200 of ours will go to her to match what her older siblings will get from the gov. The rest will go to the local food bank and other local charities.
Not sure I will get one. I only worked one day a week, for 4 hours a day, before all this started, and though I was having taxes removed from my paycheck, I never filed. I suppose I still can…that $1,200 would be a massive help right now.
@PooltoyWolf You need to go to the IRS website. There (hopefully somewhere obvious) they have a form you fill out to get this if they aren’t going to find you otherwise because you didn’t file, or if you have a bank account number listed to them and want it sent there rather than a paper check, have one there but you need to change to the right one, etc. Once you do that you should then get it as then they will have the information needed to send it to you.
@PooltoyWolf Here’s the website to enter your information:

@Tekara @Kidsandliz Thanks for this, y’all!
Got it direct deposited on the 15th. Didn’t technically need it since I’m still working and I’m sure it will come back to bite us all in the ass at some point. It’s going to township taxes which are due next week.
Got it and spent it almost immediately paying past due bills. I’m a small business owner who sells Damascus knives and swords at renaissance faires. Since all of my early shows closed, I’m barely hanging on. Please help? https://bit.ly/2wKPg2W
@Tekara Have you tried selling your stuff on Etsy (or ebay for that matter)? A friend of mine use to sell at renaissance fairs (chainmail or whatever it is called and jewelry primarily) and she also had a shop on Etsy where she did pretty well (she didn’t have anything listed when she was at fairs since she was too busy to go to the post office to mail the stuff). She found when she had the renaissance fair buzz words in her description (often as part of talking about the use of them and selling the stuff at the fairs too) she had higher sales. All those folks who want to buy stuff are likely looking where to buy right now (if they have money that is) since there are no fairs.
@Kidsandliz @Tekara And market yourself on instagram. One of my friends makes boutique hunting knives and he said it definitely gives him a bump in sales.
@Kidsandliz Kind of weird - her ‘funding’ page says she can’t sell on Etsy because they don’t allow weapons. There are plenty of knives for sale on Etsy. Plus… looking for $25,000 in help? That’s a bit obnoxious.
@Tekara @zinimusprime S/he’s need to have a following though. Might want to have, once fairs start happening again, an instagram business account where you have cards that give inviting them to follow you there. Then you post things you have made and direct them to where they can buy them. You’d need to parse out your wares so that it looks like you are making stock all the time and here is something else that is new so they keep coming back, but if you build that base and post something new at least once a week (if not more), they will let friends know it is worth following you and before you know it you might make more from online sales than from the fairs.
Also if you have a stockpile of goods, create a website, get them all up there, and if the fairs have newsletters that go out to those (customers/fair goers) who sign up it might be worth buying an ad in that. On your website you can also link to all the fairs you sell at. If those websites have a place (probably not free though) you can place a link to your online store do that.
Good luck.
@Tekara it sucks that you are in that position. It’s tough to ask money from strangers though. It would be best if maybe you had a website to actually sell your wares instead of just asking for donations? I’m sure that website takes more of the donation than something like eBay or your own storefront?
@cinoclav I didn’t look at her funding page. Just looking at it now I don’t see how her knives are any different from what I found when I searched knives on etsy.

Cripes there are knives there that have gun handles. Hers are more “normal” than that.
The second photo of the head decoration whatever it is thing she is selling (sorry I am not all that versed in what stuff from back then is called) certainly isn’t a weapon. Etsy shouldn’t have a problem with those being sold.
@Tekara Your first post ever on Meh is to ask total strangers for $25,000?

@sammydog01 Looked at their page, and it seems that they are trying to “sell” their stuff there. If you donate so much, you get an item.
@ELUNO @sammydog01 that is true. However, it’s not a store front. You don’t have eBay or PayPal backing you up.
It’s weird though. This place is not for charity. I felt bad even pointing out that I was taking donations for my mom’s funeral last year. I even had someone message me telling me how I needed to make the message bigger to get more donations. That made me feel even shittier.
@ELUNO @RiotDemon We know you, you’re an important part of this community, and you asked for help once when you needed it. Just once.

@RiotDemon @sammydog01 Exactly!
We got ours and it’s going straight to the savings account, but we already got our family toy (Nintendo Switch) from selling old stuff sitting around the house & fantasy football winnings. Go eBay!
@zinimusprime I got one too! What games are you playing?
@sammydog01 So far just Mario Party and Super Mario U Delxue. You?
@zinimusprime Animal Crossing and Lego Harry Potter
@sammydog01

/giphy grind grind grind
@sammydog01 while I’m sure that gif is to the delight of most of you, I really didn’t think of “grinding” in this context. I hope you all enjoy my mistake.
@zinimusprime I don’t do well at games that require skill. Fantasy football is an example.
@sammydog01 Where did you place in our 18 team league?
@zinimusprime Maybe 8th? I was pretty mediocre.
@sammydog01 I mean, it IS the top 50%.
@zinimusprime

Paid some bills that were already late. And bought a bed
Nope. I should probably check on whether someone filed taxes using my info to redirect it. I know a couple people that happened to.

IRS still says they cannot determine my eligibility. Go IRS! You can always count on those kids to be on the ball. What’s to determine? I always pay a small fortune in taxes and file promptly.
@ruouttaurmind So are they then going to look into it to figure out how they screwed up?
@Kidsandliz If it doesn’t start showing on the website in the next ten days or so I guess I need to reach out to them. Have you ever tried to contact the IRS? I contacted them to find out what happened to my 2018 refund nearly 6 months after I mailed my return. They sent a letter stating that they have no record of my return. Then my refund check showed up about four days later. I guess they found my return after all. Sometimes it’s like trying to follow up on a mail-in rebate for something. Checks never seem to show up until you contact the rebate processor and demand an update.
@ruouttaurmind Well that sucks. Hope you get it sorted out sooner rather than later.
