Smoke or not?Difficult choice
2Hi there.
I’ma heavy smoker and a few weeks ago started dating a good man.
I didn’t want to say that I smoke, but still understood that couldn’t hide that fact forever.
Then one day I’ve got to know that he’s allergic to cigarettes smoke and things like that.
I like him so much., but it’s so difficult to give up a habit which is almost half of life with you.
I started searching all possible information on the Internet.
I’ve found on the [redacted] that vapes are a good alternative of smoking. Has someone heard about that?
Should I try? I understand that it won’t be immediate result, but still, can it help?
Waiting for someone’s advice.
Thanks

My partner vapes. I can’t stand smoking. Vapes don’t normally bother me, but it depends on the scent/flavor. There’s been a few times where people have used different flavors around me that made me wrinkle my nose.
It’s just trading one vice for another. It’ll give to you the nicotine which is the most addictive part about smoking.
They haven’t done enough studies to prove that they are 100% safe, but the general consensus is that they are better than cigarettes.
@RiotDemon I’ve received some literature claiming vaping is rough on the teeth. Something about the propylene glycol and the way the chemical is transformed when exposed to high heat IIRC?
Just quit. It’ll suck for a month or two, then you’ll kinda want a cigarette off and on forever, but it’s the best option.
It can be difficult but it can be done. I watched cigarettes take my husband out in Oct. 4 packs a day and he died at 63. No more oxygen left. With myself, I have to go cold turkey or it’s a no go. Most that I know that switched to vaping ended up going back to the cigs. If your will to quit is strong it will be easier. If it isn’t, it can be difficult. Maybe chantix can help. And if you smoke a lot. I can’t imagine that he’s not already smelling it. Everything in my house reeks from his smokes including my bible.
I’m in the process of moving and have to replace almost everything. I quit yrs ago. Never touched one since and I smoked for a lot of yrs. Don’t ever think you can have just one drag again if you do quit. Most can’t. But your amount of resolve is everything.
I was a pack a day smoker. Had to go outside to smoke after office rules changed, didn’t want to hotbox and rush so I started taking work outside (so I could semi-enjoy the break and sunshine). Got a pretty good arms tan during summer but hated sitting in my car during winter. I’d heard about vaping and met someone at a poker tournament who explained how it worked. He had one of those contraptions that you add “juice” to and said they were cheaper at the flea market. I decided to check it out and was glad I did!
I settled for the kind that looks like a cigarette. White battery, brown cartridges with menthol flavor a la Salem Slim Lights. I didn’t really like it at first, it was so different and the way you draw on it felt weird compared to smoking (Or toking ) so I put it away for awhile. I really enjoyed that first cig in the morning with coffee!!! Not sure why but one day I decided to start the day with a cigarette, then used the E-cig the rest of the day. I continued this until the pack ran out and decided I didn’t want to pay $5 For a new pack that would be stale after 20 days so I stopped.
Now it’s been 3+ years, I use E-cig everywhere no one notices. Restaurants, movies, hospitals, planes etc. I’m surreptitious about it though, no reason to be “in your face”.
No more hacking in the morning, No more not noticing smelling like a chimney.
Also, if youre trying to quit you can adjust the level of nicotine at your own pace and slowly reduce to get down to 0, then it’s just a matter of breaking the physical motion habit of smoking.
@snapster I googled “KIndMargo”.
“She” is a shill for that website that she mentioned. “She” has created accounts on numerous forums only just recently and is posting only about that website.

Ban and delete?
@GLaDOS
@thumpercheck @narfcake
Shill alert.
@f00l @GLaDOS @narfcake - Interesting topic though. I never really smoked (except to look cool when a child) and remember (later) kissing a girl who smoked - it was like kissing an ashtray. And that cigarette smoke gets everywhere, it follows certain people around here like a cloud when they walk back in the building. Great thing to beat if you can do it!
@GLaDOS
What about https://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/109050-my-struggle-with-smoking?
It slightly contradicts https://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=814&t=25458&p=46683.
@GLaDOS meh. Hopefully someone will at least find this topic useful?
@GLaDOS @RiotDemon There’s some good followup in this, so I wasn’t leaning towards deletion. I redacted the site in context earlier, though.
@narfcake I like that.
I pretty much agree with @GLaDOS, given that every post I’ve seen by KIndMargo is a cleverly phrased an ad for that web site.
However, mehricans have turned this topic into something more than merely an ad for a vaping web store, so your solution of redacting the ad seems like a very good way of dealing with it.
@GLaDOS Wellllllllllllllll.
@aetris @f00l @narfcake I used to smoke when I played pool when was young. I hate how it gets every where too.
@PlacidPenguin Nice finds!
@narfcake @RiotDemon Sounds good!
CREEEEEEPY SHILL. Good catch, @GLaDOS!
@curtise Thanks!
My wife doesn’t like when I stick my finger in my ass crack and wipe it on her upper lip. Should i quit or should i do that forever ? I really enjoy doing it.
@capguncowboy - Try it on KIndMargo and let us know if it helps.
@aetris
Ughhhhh… she starred her own post. Strike two, Bitch Tits.
@capguncowboy ew.
So you’ve been smoking for half your life and just now are hearing that vaping is a possible alternative? I’m really not trying to be mean and genuinely would like to know the answer to this but…Did Elon Musk already secretly put a test colony on Mars and were you one of the brave Mars pioneers living up there for a substantial amount of time paving out the path for generations to come to live elsewhere than this godforsaken planet? If so, thank you for your contributions to expanding humanity in our galaxy. If not, how in this world(the only one humans live on if this is the case.) have you just heard about vaping being an alternative to smoking? I, too, am a smoker of cigarettes and vaping has been crammed down my throat since the first e-cig was released in the United States in 2007. From the first e-cig commercial with Stephen “I can only be in one decent movie(SFW) so I have to try to Pioneer a new thing that not only makes me still look cool, but also healthier” Dorf. To the current infomercial for “Cue”. Heck, even state and federal no smoking signs and literature include language specifically about vaping.
So, all that being said. Vaping is vaping and smoking is smoking. Same sort of mechanics, you can control your nicotine, flavor, even price point depending on how in to it you wanna be. I have heard wonderful things about it assisting in smoking titration tool. It really comes down to you and if you really want to quit along with how badly. Personally, I really enjoy smoking and currently have zero plans of quitting any time soon.
It probably didn’t but hope this helps!
@sicc574 poor Stephen Dorff.
@RiotDemon @sicc574
Never mind the smoking. What is your man going to think when he finds out you’re a dirty forum spammer?
OK, I read the entire thread and I am still amazed that no one did this:
they know, you smell of sweet sweet nicotine and finishing chemicals
and also… where is the spam picture… come on guys…
yeah, I had a good laugh at the
don’t worry sweetie. Everyone who doesn’t smoke knows you do while you’re still a good six feet away.
good thing you’re not real. because you’d be real dim.
I was looking to stop smoking and found vaping. It’s worked out well for me and doesn’t smell bad to those who are around me. It’s a winwin
