My deepest condolences on the loss of Gypsy. No better way for an animal to pass than knowing they were loved, cared for, and that they brought joy to those around them.
So sorry for your loss. They are such a part of our lives. To go in such a peaceful way is a bit of comfort. Sounds like she was well loved and had a beautiful life.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss - always heartbreaking. I am glad though that you didn’t have to go through the agony of deciding when to put your fur baby down.
I’m so really sorry you’ve lost your furry family member. As one of our dogs is 12 and not nearly as active, I try not to think about him not being around.
Just remember the loving & fun times she gave you and that you gave to her.
I wish I could say something original and empathetic, but others here have been more eloquent than I could manage. Still, I think Will Rogers speaks for me: “If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.”
Gypsy and Dad are already tooling around in Ol’ Red, I expect.
So sorry for your loss of Gypsy in this life. I can only hope that we can join them again somehow in another life. I lost my little girl pug, Molly, a week ago. It’s not something I can “get over” and move on from. Think of the good times you had with her!
@benj I went around and around with a dear Catholic priest I once knew (may God rest you easy, Father M.) about dogs having souls AND about them getting into heaven–or what I believed heaven was.
I’m not a very religious person. In fact, I have a lot of heartburn with organized religion, but that set-to had me internally spitting nails. Don’t tell ME God doesn’t let dogs into heaven, or that they don’t have souls. That’s just crap. Any creature capable of empathy has a soul as far as I’m concerned. Heck, maybe ALL creatures do. That’s my belief, and I’m sticking to it.
@LaVikinga We are of the same mind. I believe that with my heart and soul! Why would I want to go anywhere that wouldn’t let a beautiful creature like my little pug, Molly, in. That would include Heaven!
@LaVikinga I fully agree with you on all you said. I’m an atheist, but I find I also have a mixed bag of beliefs, probably left over from adolescence, that all sentient creatures have eternally living spirits that eventually meet with the spirits of those they’ve loved or deeply befriended. Perhaps it’s just a way to avoid the unbearably painful loss of loved ones, but whatever it is, I’m comfortable with it.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. We also are dealing with the loss of our Clover this week, it’s always so tough to lose our best friends. I hope we get to see them again in the next life.
My condolences @ruouttaurmind. With two aging dogs ourselves, one with cancer who’s half blind and mostly deaf and the other far from the picture of health, their eventual departure from our happy family weighs heavily more frequently than not these days.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
@Lighter Um, yes. Thank you for posting that, which fits pretty well where I am (see above?); for me, though, it’s just a giant park for all sentient creatures. And now I think I’ll go hold our two Crazed Poodles ™ while I snuffle a bit.
I am so sorry you lost your furry friend.
I’m sorry for your loss.
What a beautiful girl. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I remember you talking about her.
I’m so sorry she’s gone. I knows she had a great life.
I wish, almost above all else, that our dogs, our Packmates, would live as long as we. Condolences.
Oh, crap. I’m so sorry.
I’m sorry.

I’m so sorry. It’s one of the toughest challenges to loving anyone.

Sorry for your loss- it’s never easy when a furry companion moves on.

I am very sorry. The passing of a four legged family member is alway tough. Take care.
So sorry for your loss. They are such wonderful companions, and there’s such a void when they are gone.
Oh man I’m sorry. It always hurts like hell
So so sorry.
I am so very sorry for your loss. It’s never easy, but she was lucky to have lived a wonderful life with you and knew love.

I know it hurts.
@benj I’m so sorry about Molly. It’s one of life’s cruel ironies that pets bring us so much joy yet so much sorrow.
@benj
Sorry for your loss, @benj.
@ruouttaurmind Amen!
@ruouttaurmind Thank you!
I know in my heart our old friends will meet us along the path to the Great Clearing.
@LaVikinga Well said! I would go crazy if I didn’t truly believe that!

@djslack
So many pets gone this week.
The hole in your life now … I’m so sorry to hear.
@ruouttaurmind @narfcake @f00l thank you all.
@djslack I’m sorry to hear about Clover.
@djslac Clover will be waiting for you!

Don’t have much to say, but I am terribly sorry for your loss.
So sorry. We lost our furry family member somewhat unexpectedly on new years eve last year, and I know he has another buddy to play with today.
@shahnm Gypsy loves to play!
Really sorry, @ruouttaurmind.

Aww. so sorry for your loss. Bittersweet but always seems a little better when they just drift off that way.
