@tinamarie1974 I am having a bit of winter blues a bit of holiday blues and a bit of pandemic blues. I need to hear something cheerful and good even if you have problem with that.
I found an old family video of my grandfather and figured out how to share it. My Mom asked him questions like how did you meet her Mom and about their first date.
@RiotDemon yea. The image loaded for me with the link when I saved it/refreshed the page so I figured it was working and didn’t try and fiddle with it. And I always post the link instead of a saved pic so it goes to the cartoonist site. Not sure what happened there but thanks
@unksol not sure. When I right clicked to open the image it took me straight to the photo I swapped out it for. It was from a totally different website that’s why I asked if it was right.
@carl669 score! I believe that book contains one of my all time favorite stories, though I’ve only come across the story online. It’s the ground speed pissing match story.
Also, wow, holy hell do people want a lot of money for that book, at least on Amazon!
@djslack yeah… it was pricey. hence the hesitation to buy it. i tried to have a couple friends talk me down, but they were completely useless and just said “i love my 1st edition books. buy it!”.
so technically, i could just build my own SR-71 with this manual? brb… clearing out space in the living room.
@carl669 idk about a build unless you have a source for titanium in bulk, but you could certainly do a complete teardown and rebuild if you were to acquire one that’s sitting around somewhere.
This article reminded me that once, many years ago, I had a dream that I was in a space ship headed towards the center of the universe to see what was there. I spent a lot of time looking out the window in awe of what I saw. In that space ship was someone who was mobility disabled but in space, with no gravity, that didn’t matter. It was a disappointment to wake up from that dream.
There are little things that are special. I was in a major traffic jam trying to get off the highway. Overhead a hawk was soaring. Circling. I was able to watch it the entire time I was stuck. It was low enough you could see how he used the tips of his wing feathers to make minor adjustments, adjust his wing position to make more major ones and only once did he flap his wings with one flap. It was amazing to me how he played the currents to stay aloft and not have to work hard at it.
As 2020 was well know for sucking major donkey ASS there was one bright side to my 2020 story. Started in 2019 moving money around and deciding to day trade. I moved it into a few accounts to start. I ended up leaving 80% of it as cash into 2020 then Covid hit. I spent a few months figuring out what to do and what stocks may benefit from this tragedy. So I had a mid six figure stash and started buying big chunks of 4-5 stocks in mid March. By late March early April I was all in. Since then I haven’t sold anything till today. All I can say is I am very please. Loving my 380+% avg. up. Never thought I would ever see multiple 7 figure accounts. Yep I’m a bragger and it feels good. Lol. PS I have made more donations this year then every other year combined.
Here’s the main story:
There are some messed up communities with some people in very bad situations. My story may be with a happy ending but there are plenty who need our help. So if you can. Help a friend, neighbor, local food bank, shelter or family. Give money, food, clothing or just a hand. You’ll be a hero in my book! You’ll make some people very Happy as well… PLEASE…!
Merry Xmas to everyone and FUCK Covid, politicians & a few other groups I will not name.
OH HAPPY NEW YEAR

@bugger You did well. Nice. My unsolicited opinion is to now park enough of it (so you are fine regardless of what the stock market does) where you won’t lose it in case everything crashes. Then continue to play with the rest in case it doesn’t. While you won’t be as rich if things continue to climb (by parking some), you won’t be as poor if the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.
2018 and 2019 really sucked financially and otherwise. This year I have a reliable income from one of my clients. My BF has a work from home job all year. I have a warm comfortable home for the first time in two years. My health has been amazing. And I have a built in excuse to socially isolate. 2020 has been very good to me!
In July I lost my beloved 17-year-old cat, and in October a close friend of mine died, but in mid-September I found this big sweetie at the Humane Society and he’s the best thing that’s happened to me all year.
@tinamarie1974@Kidsandliz He is, really, although he doesn’t quite get that when I pat him I’m not up for play-fighting. I’m trying to train him to know that nipping and rabbit-kicking my hand is not okay! I wish I knew where he came from; he was turned in as a stray, but he has impeccable litterbox habits so it seems like he must have had a previous home. Not quite as affectionate as my last two, but maybe he’ll get there eventually.
@Kyeh@tinamarie1974 I found with one of my strays it took close to a year for her to not revert to “I’m scared” behavior at the drop of a hat. She is my most cuddle cat now.
@Kidsandliz@tinamarie1974 Hah, I don’t have to - my heating system is terrible! If it’s freezing outside, I can set the thermostat at 70 degrees and it will only get up to about 65 if I’m lucky.
WFH
@tinamarie1974 I am having a bit of winter blues a bit of holiday blues and a bit of pandemic blues. I need to hear something cheerful and good even if you have problem with that.
@CaptAmehrican @tinamarie1974 I think WFH means work from home.
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 oh I thought it meant What the Fucking Hell. Opps very different meaning of post. Sorry Tinamarie
@CaptAmehrican no worries, I did mean work from home. @RiotDemon was right. Sorry for the confusion
@tinamarie1974 How about your adorable puppy?
@CaptAmehrican @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 I think how you parsed that either says something about 2020 itself or the text messages you get lol
@sammydog01 ah, yes. He is definitely a blessing!! He also helps me practice my patience.
@sammydog01 puppy says 'sup
@CaptAmehrican @tinamarie1974 My current NFL home team is WFT. It’s funny when they use the abbreviation.
Fantasy football playoff finals against my buddy @njfan
@sammydog01 woohoo. That is good. I have never done well with fantasy football. Although it is a good year for Buffalo Bills
@CaptAmehrican GO BILLS! They were my home team growing up. I need their defense to do really well this weekend.
I found an old family video of my grandfather and figured out how to share it. My Mom asked him questions like how did you meet her Mom and about their first date.
@speediedelivery so cute
@unksol your jpeg is broken
@unksol I tried to fix your photo, is that the right one?
@RiotDemon yea. The image loaded for me with the link when I saved it/refreshed the page so I figured it was working and didn’t try and fiddle with it. And I always post the link instead of a saved pic so it goes to the cartoonist site. Not sure what happened there but thanks

I got a promotion and a raise at my job recently. I’m very fortunate and super excited to be employed 40 hours a week doing work that I love.
@ceruleanseas that is fantastic and I am certain well earned
was able to get a hold of a 1st edition book i’ve been wanting. paid a ridiculous price, but not an obscene price.

Enjoy the book!
@carl669 @djslack We have one of those hanging from the ceiling of our science museum. It’s amazing.
@carl669 I’m jealous! I wanted that book until I saw the price tag.
@carl669 How about a declassified document?

That’s good.

@carl669
Fuck it. 2020 killed by typing skills.
@carl669 @f00l
New Grandson!
It’s going to be so tough not spoiling him. (Well, not worse than my incredibly adorable granddaughters, anyway.)
@mehcuda67 grandparents are supposed to spoil grandkids. It is part of the deal.
I enjoyed reading this just now :

@Kidsandliz That’s wonderful.
@Kyeh Glad you liked it. It would be beyond cool to go to space. Or to the moon. Or mars…

Well according to David Berry (in his year in review):
"We’re trying to think of something nice to say about 2020.
Okay, here goes: Nobody got killed by the murder hornets. As far as we know.
That’s pretty much it."

In July I lost my beloved 17-year-old cat, and in October a close friend of mine died, but in mid-September I found this big sweetie at the Humane Society and he’s the best thing that’s happened to me all year.
He was really, really shy at first but he’s turned out to be a very good kitty. I call him Toby.
@Kyeh he looks very sweet
@Kyeh Looks a bit like he’s wearing a Batman (Catman?) mask
@Kyeh He sounds like he is one of those “grateful” cats. I have two of those who were desperate strays. They are unbelievably sweet.
@compunaut
He does, but not as much as this guy who hangs around my friend’s house a lot.
@tinamarie1974 @Kidsandliz He is, really, although he doesn’t quite get that when I pat him I’m not up for play-fighting. @Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 Cold weather helps - he’s been snuggling up on the couch with me more since the temps dropped!
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Well then turn the heat down!
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 Hah, I don’t have to - my heating system is terrible! If it’s freezing outside, I can set the thermostat at 70 degrees and it will only get up to about 65 if I’m lucky.
