How It Works
This IRK costs $50, but you can earn some of that back as a refund based on how many different products you buy in today’s Meh-rathon.
Buy 2 different products → Get $10 back, your IRK is essentially $40
Buy 4 different products → Get $20 back, that’s a $30 IRK
Buy 6 different products → Get $30 back - you get it, right? $20 IRK
Buy 8 different products → Get $40 back, $10 IRK
Buy 10 different products → Get $49.99 back, $0.01 IRK
@cengland0@IndifferentDude Yeah I think today is the day the IRK finally died. It went from something I’d rarely CAPTCHA my way into to, now, a deal so bad it won’t even make me scour the ‘thon items to try and convince myself to buy one or two.
@IndifferentDude At least every BOC I got had at least one decent item and if you added everything up, it resulted in at least the same retail value, cant say the same about a instant regret kit. Last time, I opened it up and found expired baby food and expired dog food and a shammy that was opened. Instant regret. Probably will pass until the next next recession hits
Bigolenopetynope. Even if I thought that there would be ten items I’d want, the budget won’t support that level of crap I don’t really need. Ergo also no IRK. Not that I care. On reflection, the IRKs have mostly been heavy on the R, which didn’t matter as much when they were $5. At $10, they’d lose their luster; it would be a hard sell. At more than that, oh hell no.
Sorry to be a wet blanket on this subject, but I’m firmly in the “no way” camp on this IRK deal.
@pattyrusk1 Me too! More expensive-hopefully more instant than the last IRK-regret that’s a crap shoot! Plus, who doesn’t love a Mehrathon?? MORE reason to do LESS work! (Although I’m slightly hesitant about this order code, especially with the theme of today’s Mehrathon).
giphy /blunt-murderous-pie
I have to remind myself that Irks used to be just the price. These meh-athon purchases bringing down the Irk price is a bonus. That being said, I’d be lucky to find a single item to purchase and it would be a damn near miracle to find two things. TEN?!? Meh is getting quite ambitious.
@Kyeh not to mention, some things listed are things I’ve already purchased. If anything, this number of items requirement is not only discouraging me to purchase an Irk, it’s also discouraging me to purchase anything on normal days in hopes that they’ll appear on the next Meh-athon.
Just read the IRK rules on SD, apparently that’s not how it works anymore… Its noblonger value of the item you buy on Meh. Its tied to the number of items you buy, need to buy 5 different items on Meh to make the SD IRK free.
Hey guys…You may also want to distinguish between separate offers and separate items. You frequently offer the same item multiple times in a marathon. How does ordering one (of the same item) for multiple offers count?
@Artimid I assume so, but since meh / SideDeal decided NOT to specify that tiny little detail I guess they’re hoping to fool some uninitiated folks into assuming this is a “Must have” offering!!
Kinda sad the format changed. I rarely buy anything but decided to snag something this Mehrathon. Figured “Well, I’m halfway to a free irk, maybe I’ll see something else I’ll want, but don’t really need, and buy that too” to hit the mark. Looks like that isn’t the way it works this time, so I’m glad I didn’t just assume it was the spend $50 or so format and then realize my mistake after purchasing the IRK.
One more step to a buyout, it seems. I’ve been around since the early days of the daily deals- 2007’ish. When we all migrated, it seemed to be the classics that we all missed. The thrill of having a shot at a boc, now irk, was awesome at first. We watched as they then put buy downs on it, and now you have to buy 10(!!!) different items? No thanks. Not a chance. ugh.
So just for fun, I went through the deals now that the day is almost done. You’d spend roughly $135 to get back the 50, so meh makes $ 85 off crap that’s mostly useless.
Raycon Portable HEPA 2-in-1 Air Purifier & Fragrance Diffuser with Extra Filter-extra filter $5
Onn Reusable Preloaded 35mm Camera $8
Scrub-It Microfiber Cleaning 2-Piece Glove Set $8
2-Pack: Wise Owl Outfitters Large Camping Towels with Washcloths $8
Super Power Spin Brush Drill Head Set $9.99
2-Pack: UltraBlock Waterproof Queen Pillow Protectors $10
6-Pack: Wundermax Door Stoppers $9.99
4-Pack: ScrubIt Chenille Microfiber Car Wash Sponges $10
6-Pack: Bell & Howell Alien Shield Waterproof Repair Tape (5FT Rolls) $12
UltraBlock UltraPlush King-Size Mattress Protector $12
It’s possible I missed something, but still. And sure, if you’re buying stuff anyway, take the refund to help offset the spending. But this takes all the fun out of the irk to me, and if this becomes the new normal, I’m giving up my vmp. It’s not worth it when y’all aren’t fun anymore.
What’s Included?
It is a mystery ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What a Cluster-phuck way to Buy an IRK!!

Seriously meh (& Sidechick Deal)??
@IndifferentDude It’s a lucky day when I find one item to buy during a meh-rathon. Suppose that means I’m out. I’m not paying $50 for an IRK.
@cengland0 @IndifferentDude Yeah I think today is the day the IRK finally died. It went from something I’d rarely CAPTCHA my way into to, now, a deal so bad it won’t even make me scour the ‘thon items to try and convince myself to buy one or two.
I installed CAPTCHA to save my fellow robots from wasting money on this crap.
Who is this Sidechick?
Seriously meh (& Sidechick Deal)??
@Euniceandrich She’s the one doing all the dirty work for the Pimpster.
Capeesh??
oh
barf

I’m in! Maybe I have an addiction…
To be fair, I always have fun with these. Thanks meh

And I’m a serial slasher to boot! I crack my own self up. Thanks for fixing me.
I feel this fits here:
“Listen! We’re not just doing this for money… We’re doing it for a SHIT LOAD of money!”
I have to remind myself that Irks used to be just the price. These meh-athon purchases bringing down the Irk price is a bonus. That being said, I’d be lucky to find a single item to purchase and it would be a damn near miracle to find two things. TEN?!? Meh is getting quite ambitious.
@goldnectar And they’re not inexpensive things either. Mostly.
@Kyeh not to mention, some things listed are things I’ve already purchased. If anything, this number of items requirement is not only discouraging me to purchase an Irk, it’s also discouraging me to purchase anything on normal days in hopes that they’ll appear on the next Meh-athon.
@goldnectar Hah - so this is backfiring on them … it does seem like an overreach the way they’re doing it this time.
Y’all need to lay off the bullshit on this one. Short of 10 $1 deals, there’s literally no way I need that much of your junk
And you wonder why meh has lost its luster for so many of us…
You must be out of your irking mind…
Nope
Add me to the list of “You gotta be fucking kidding me?” instant reaction.
Last two tucked. Truly IR
Yep, saving me a day of looking for that one or two deals I am interested in. Must be an early April Fools Irk?
So if I buy this IRK I get the IRK on side deal for free?
Actually tempted…
Just read the IRK rules on SD, apparently that’s not how it works anymore… Its noblonger value of the item you buy on Meh. Its tied to the number of items you buy, need to buy 5 different items on Meh to make the SD IRK free.
@Chronicle
10 different items for it to be $0.01
I bought the Dyson fan and can’t get any $$ off a IRK? You’re killing me, meh.
@arysta it gets manually refunded afterwards
@ironcheftoni you have to buy at least 2 things, though
Hey guys…You may also want to distinguish between separate offers and separate items. You frequently offer the same item multiple times in a marathon. How does ordering one (of the same item) for multiple offers count?
@chienfou There will not be any duplicate offers in this mehrathon
@troy
Ok I see you decided to
@chienfou @troy

HOLY MOLY!!
These are selling WAY BETTER than I thought they would!! From today’s email:
That’s $4,245,000 in Sales!!

Way to go meh & SideDeal!!
@IndifferentDude Is that not the lifetime of the IRK since they started putting them on SideDeal?
@Artimid I assume so, but since meh / SideDeal decided NOT to specify that tiny little detail I guess they’re hoping to fool some uninitiated folks into assuming this is a “Must have” offering!!
@IndifferentDude That’s probably the cumulative count for Meh and SD together, all the way back to the $5 refresh-at-rollover days.
@werehatrack I’m sure it is but don’t you think they should specify that? The way it’s presented one would assume it’s what has sold today. Sneeky!!
Kinda sad the format changed. I rarely buy anything but decided to snag something this Mehrathon. Figured “Well, I’m halfway to a free irk, maybe I’ll see something else I’ll want, but don’t really need, and buy that too” to hit the mark. Not falling for this again. I don’t need another donation box. 🫤
I actually did feel instant regret! Neat!
This mehrathon is going to last two weeks*… So we’ll all have ten items to buy by the end of it.
.* It probably wont
I love mystery bags, but at $50? I don’t know.
I’m not seeing a lot of stuff that I want to buy in this Mehithon to bring the price down, either.
One more step to a buyout, it seems. I’ve been around since the early days of the daily deals- 2007’ish. When we all migrated, it seemed to be the classics that we all missed. HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
So just for fun, I went through the deals now that the day is almost done. You’d spend roughly $135 to get back the 50, so meh makes $ 85 off crap that’s mostly useless.

@Jamileigh17 The IRK and discount parameters are always changing. Month after month, its always different. No worries
