I did the last one and got an old macbook case, and old iphone case, and a small set of lipstick samplers. Taking money out of the equation, it was truly the worst BoC/Fuku/IRK I’ve ever had. I’m probably going to cancel my VMP membership if this is how they do IRKs going forward. I can’t imagine what they can possibly offer that I’d want to spend $50 on. I use meh for the $5-$20 impulse purchase.

Last time they did this, for free I got a Cuisinart food processor, a back massage thingy, and several other useful items. Not bad.
That aside, the description only talks about previous IRK’s in what to expect. So for a newbie, they may be expecting $50 worth of stuff. But get delivered $5 worth. Last time people were upset that they paid so much for so little. So saying it is just like previous IRK’s really doesn’t explain much to someone who has never bought one.
@werehatrack My last IRK was my only lucky bag. All the previous ones I was happy that I got the bag to collect as the other items were not worth it. But back then for $5 it was fun.
If I was new and spent $50 for $5 worth of stuff I wouldn’t be happy. Just saying it is like previous IRK’s doesn’t say much if I am new.
Making the IRKs trivially easy to get as an add-on does not make them anywhere near as much of a fun thing. In some cases, the lack of urgency will even work to cause people to decline a purchase in the 'thon itself, should the irks have sold out before they buy anything. And at $50, any IRKs that fail to deliver a satisfying value to the outright buyer are just going to further dampen the enthusiasm that they used to generate.
@werehatrack I really just came here to say that my favorite IRK approach is the scavenger hunt/puzzle, but those appear to be meh birthday only events, if even then.
As someone who got strung out “original” IRK method, I like this option, and think $50 is a more reasonable price point to hit with meh purchases. BUT I do miss the thrill/adrenaline hit of the “get”, even if I don’t miss the “green bar green bar green bar green bar OOPS” cadence of disappointment.
Looking at my purchase history, there were times where I only bought IRKs within a 3 month span (in early COVID times when mehrathon’s were more frequent). So I get that meh wants to get people to ‘engage’ with the site more (aka buy non-IRK stuff). Short of building a credits system where every purchase buys you “IRK points” that somehow privileges you in the IRK queue, not sure what else meh could do (and yes, I totally get keeping it first come first served all the way through).

Number 1: Does the order of purchase matter? For example, do you have to buy the $50 IRK first and THEN buy $50 off Mehrathon items, or can you wait to see if you spend more than $50 on Mehrathon items and THEN buy the IRK?
Number next: If you buy things through the ICYMI route today, do those count towards the $50 spend?

There’s probably a critical attrition point before then which would trigger an involuntary discontinuance via termination of the additional perks (what few, if any, remain). Given the visibly shifting priorities at Mediocre, I don’t see any reason why they’d want to institute a new, expanded “Meh Prime”; they would be far more likely to cook up a “Morningsave EIC” (Extra Important Customer) program, since that would have a much greater impact on their bottom line. Meh is just the drooping tail that can’t wag the dog anymore.
I missed the mehmber hour (if it happened) but I didn’t see anything from the time that looked worth ‘reserving’ for folks either.
It feels a little like when Woot started falling into mediocrity after amazon bought them. I guess its time to stop throwing money away when months go by without something I want to buy. VMP and Meh ain’t what they used to be.

I wound up adding the clip-on macro lens kit. I’ve been considering one for a few years, anyway: lots of bug/plant/fungi/ photos on my phone. Beyond that, the purchases were things I’ve been watching for anyway: a second power bank identical to one I have and like, QC3-capable chargers the kids requested, and some dog treats. Regret is fairly low.

I liked the juicer and was just saying I needed to order some replacement surge protectors the other day. So then I snagged my dog some treats, which put me at 53.98 before taxes. Perfect. If nothing else, the stuff I ordered will be useful, and the bag will be nice. Anything good beyond that is bonus.

I have spent over $100 on this Mehathon, I initially ordered one IRK, I want to ad this is my VERY FIRST ONE EVER!! And I have been shopping on this since WOOT days, and. VMP for many years as well. I think I should be able to order a second i IRK based on my spending doting this 24 hour. Can a moderator help me out?
Was tempted to buy the wireless Kenwood earbuds and wired $5 earbuds but decided not to since I have another brand unopened. Some of the chargers were cool but I already have a bunch otherwise I would be buying like I have in the past. Would love to see some more unique products as it seems like I am seeing a lot of repeats tonight.
We’ll be doing the refunds manually, in the days after the Meh-rathon ends, so don’t expect an instant refund, just instant regret. (It may take extra long since some banks take 3-5 days after we’re done.)

@chienfou@Kidsandliz@vita10gy IIRC, last time, the refunds got issued after the qualifying-purchase item got shipped, which was a variable thing from 48 hours post-thon for a lucky few to a bit over a week for some. Or at least that’s what I recall. Mostly, if both the main purchase and the IRK had shipped, the refund for the IRK would show up pretty quickly.
Just saying I don’t see a credit on my account yet. Last time there was a issue but they corrected it easily and fast. Just wonder if it’s happening again. . I’ll keep checking a few more days

Got my IRK today: A Kenneth Cole puffer jacket which actually fits me, a fleece zip-up hoodie which also fits me, and two unsealed (hmm) skin care products including one called “instant face lift” (are you trying to tell me something Meh?). Not too bad.
Well this was a waste of a penny. Claws shoes that are 7 sizes too small, a westbound popcorn popper that was used and returned broken, glasses and I have 20/20 vision, a trackerR pixel that has a dent in it and cr 2016 batteries I don’t need. Think it’s about time to cancel my vmp membership.
Well we got apple phone screens and me and my gf have androids. A MacBook pro case when we have a MacBook air. 50 facemasks and an industrial sized antibacterial wipes. Haha
My first IRK and I was pleased. A big squeaky dog chew toy for my son’s dog (my wife is always buying them so a “win” there) - a beauty kit we will pass on to my daughter, Joint pills (retail $40). Don’t see how they can help my cartilage free knees but what the heck. Cusinart stainless steel straws (4-pack) , 10 pack cheap covid masks, Some “fashion” fleece pants that might fit my granddaughter, and a bag of green, vanilla flavored melting candy pellets, that I’m stubborn enough to find a use for and finally, the IRK bag, which I will proudly use. A great value for the penny I spent over and above the items I was happy to buy from the Meh-a-thon.
I hope meh found this format a success as I will definitely make an effort to find $50 of meh stuff for another IRK. Though if not for the Pumpkin Spice KETO granola (which is great and was well priced) I probably would have passed.
I’m a little IRK’d there was no bag this time around. I figured for $50, they would have at least included one of those. But I did get 8-10 iPhone cases, a set of 6 bath towels, steel straws, a couple of eyelash sets, a female tank top (size M), some sort of phone charger for a car and a loose 1 ft. USB cable. Looks like my sister is getting her second bagless IRK!

I paid $50 for broken shit that they were just going to throw away. I got slippers that were too small for infants. I hoodie sized small. A set of 48 silverware with weird stuff instead of normal forks and what not. A broken light that had 3m tape on the back that wouldn’t activate. A light up watch wrist thing that also didnt work. They got me, and I feel so dumb. Street value of my box maybe $5 maybe. This burned me so bad, I will stop coming here.

Last time they did this, for free I got a Cuisinart food processor, a back massage thingy, and several other useful items. Not bad.
That aside, the description only talks about previous IRK’s in what to expect. So for a newbie, they may be expecting $50 worth of stuff. But get delivered $5 worth. Last time people were upset that they paid so much for so little. So saying it is just like previous IRK’s really doesn’t explain much to someone who has never bought one.

@werehatrack My last IRK was my only lucky bag. All the previous ones I was happy that I got the bag to collect as the other items were not worth it. But back then for $5 it was fun.

Making the IRKs trivially easy to get as an add-on does not make them anywhere near as much of a fun thing. In some cases, the lack of urgency will even work to cause people to decline a purchase in the 'thon itself, should the irks have sold out before they buy anything. And at $50, any IRKs that fail to deliver a satisfying value to the outright buyer are just going to further dampen the enthusiasm that they used to generate.
This formula is a loser.
@werehatrack I really just came here to say that my favorite IRK approach is the scavenger hunt/puzzle, but those appear to be meh birthday only events, if even then.
As someone who got strung out “original” IRK method, I like this option, and think $50 is a more reasonable price point to hit with meh purchases. BUT I do miss the thrill/adrenaline hit of the “get”, even if I don’t miss the “green bar green bar green bar green bar OOPS” cadence of disappointment.
Looking at my purchase history, there were times where I only bought IRKs within a 3 month span (in early COVID times when mehrathon’s were more frequent). So I get that meh wants to get people to ‘engage’ with the site more (aka buy non-IRK stuff). Short of building a credits system where every purchase buys you “IRK points” that somehow privileges you in the IRK queue, not sure what else meh could do (and yes, I totally get keeping it first come first served all the way through).

Number 1: Does the order of purchase matter? For example, do you have to buy the $50 IRK first and THEN buy $50 off Mehrathon items, or can you wait to see if you spend more than $50 on Mehrathon items and THEN buy the IRK?

There’s probably a critical attrition point before then which would trigger an involuntary discontinuance via termination of the additional perks (what few, if any, remain). Given the visibly shifting priorities at Mediocre, I don’t see any reason why they’d want to institute a new, expanded “Meh Prime”; they would be far more likely to cook up a “Morningsave EIC” (Extra Important Customer) program, since that would have a much greater impact on their bottom line. Meh is just the drooping tail that can’t wag the dog anymore.

I missed the mehmber hour (if it happened) but I didn’t see anything from the time that looked worth ‘reserving’ for folks either.
It feels a little like when Woot started falling into mediocrity after amazon bought them. I guess its time to stop throwing money away when months go by without something I want to buy. VMP and Meh ain’t what they used to be.
There’s still hope for something good to show up someday even if there’s a shipping charge to go with it.

Regret is fairly low.
Last time I got 20lbs of linguini, some ridiculous wall clings, and a case of trakr devices which are obsolete and don’t work, but meh, I’ll try again.

I have spent over $100 on this Mehathon, I initially ordered one IRK, I want to ad this is my VERY FIRST ONE EVER!! And I have been shopping on this since WOOT days, and. VMP for many years as well. Was tempted to buy the wireless Kenwood earbuds and wired $5 earbuds but decided not to since I have another brand unopened. @chienfou @Kidsandliz @vita10gy IIRC, last time, the refunds got issued after the qualifying-purchase item got shipped, which was a variable thing from 48 hours post-thon for a lucky few to a bit over a week for some. Or at least that’s what I recall. Mostly, if both the main purchase and the IRK had shipped, the refund for the IRK would show up pretty quickly.

Got my IRK today: A Kenneth Cole puffer jacket which actually fits me, a fleece zip-up hoodie which also fits me, and two unsealed (hmm) skin care products including one called “instant face lift” (are you trying to tell me something Meh?). Not too bad.
Well this was a waste of a penny. Claws shoes that are 7 sizes too small, a westbound popcorn popper that was used and returned broken, glasses and I have 20/20 vision, a trackerR pixel that has a dent in it and cr 2016 batteries I don’t need. Think it’s about time to cancel my vmp membership.
Well we got apple phone screens and me and my gf have androids. A MacBook pro case when we have a MacBook air. 50 facemasks and an industrial sized antibacterial wipes. Haha
My first IRK and I was pleased. A big squeaky dog chew toy for my son’s dog (my wife is always buying them so a “win” there) - a beauty kit we will pass on to my daughter, Joint pills (retail $40). Don’t see how they can help my cartilage free knees but what the heck. Cusinart stainless steel straws (4-pack) , 10 pack cheap covid masks, Some “fashion” fleece pants that might fit my granddaughter, and a bag of green, vanilla flavored melting candy pellets, that I’m stubborn enough to find a use for and finally, the IRK bag, which I will proudly use. A great value for the penny I spent over and above the items I was happy to buy from the Meh-a-thon.
I hope meh found this format a success as I will definitely make an effort to find $50 of meh stuff for another IRK. Though if not for the Pumpkin Spice KETO granola (which is great and was well priced) I probably would have passed.
I’m a little IRK’d there was no bag this time around. I figured for $50, they would have at least included one of those. But I did get 8-10 iPhone cases, a set of 6 bath towels, steel straws, a couple of eyelash sets, a female tank top (size M), some sort of phone charger for a car and a loose 1 ft. USB cable. Looks like my sister is getting her second bagless IRK!

Best IRK I’ve received in a long time… sort of.
Something was spilled into the box at some point. A greasy yellow liquid. Seemed a bit like condensed soup broth.
We just threw away the IRK bag. We have enough of those so we decided it wasn’t worth trying to clean the gunk off of it.
There was a cute snowman fleece blanket that had to go straight into the washing machine. We hope that the gunk comes out of that.

Got my IRK today, and fortunately got my refund almost a week ago. My regretful haul:
-Silver and Gold Reactive Foil 3-pack ???
-Combination poncho and zip away stadium seat in one
-Meh box that you can make into a phone stand with a USB A to C adapter inside
-14-pack of 8x10 canvas panels
-2 very thin super sticky double-sided red tape
-2 battery powered toothbrushes
-Fukubukuro bag

I don’t know if it works yet or not but REALLY excited with my IRK! It looks new to me! Also received:

Most everything was OK or I can find a use for it. The handful of free batteries of the tracker variety are OK I guess or maybe they look pretty in a fire
tracker app does not exist on iOS anymore so these are useless e-waste
