Think this was one of the few things back in the day that drew me back to Meh (like a moth to the flame).
It’s a nice, very bright, light. I have it in the corner aimed at some white walls to create an effective ambient midday luminescence. And like this, it’s pretty effective against seasonal depression.
The mostly spheric shape allows it to wedge itself in nooks, but also likely to get kicked and roll if you place it on the floor. It really needs to be aimed away from the face, so putting it on a tall shelf pointing at the white ceiling makes it as effective as a floor or ceiling lamp.
As an alternative, you could buy a $2 LED bulb ($5 if you want to buy it individually and have it be dimmable) - but most are colored early daylight (5000k), not-as-bright white (4000k), or office-space white (6000k or higher). Or an expensive color-adjustable smart bulb.
