Show your Tree!
31So this year has been a crazy adventure. Life has changed quite a bit for me and I am still trying to get settled. Last year had me in a more transient nature and my tree was about 18" tall. This year has me in my own little home again, which I am quite happy about. But I pretty much had to start over with Xmas decorations. I still don’t have many, but as soon as Xmas is over and the crazy markdowns begin - I will
This year my tree is 4’ tall (that’s all that will fit in my tiny house), and is my favorite tree ever. We even plugged in a warmer behind it that generates a Douglas Fir scent. It’s not the biggest tree I have ever had, it’s not the most decorated, it’s the best because the spirit of Christmas fills it.
My kids and I spent a weekend putting it up and putting the lights on. We didn’t really have any decorations so we ran to Wally World and grabbed a few things. We made sure to grab a bunch of blank bulbs, and the kids went crazy with the paints making decorations.
The train set isn’t setup yet because it is a surprise. Unfortunately, this set doesn’t have smoke (still casting blame at you @dave)(you too, @therealjrn).
This tree is my best ever because of the love and quality family time that went into it.
I know many of you have amazing trees so let me see them!

That’s what she said.
@Epinardian Ha! She must be into Bonsai’s
I love you, @mfladd. Yes, you do have a heart hidden somewhere deep inside you.
@Barney Awwwwwwe It rears it’s ugly head from time to time.
@mfladd well you can solve that if you want to - that is want to keep your heartless, evil image you are trying so hard to pretend you have (grin)
/image knife stabbing heart
Mine is currently mid-assembly. I started about a half hour ago. I’m not sure why; I still have almost two weeks, right?
@djslack Plenty of time!
@mfladd Finally decorated and anti-gravity mod applied.
That is a beautiful tree- in more ways than one.
I haven’t even put one up this year. My health issues and pain have just kinda knocked the spirit out of me, I guess. I used to always get a huge real tree and also put up several smaller fake ones around the house.
@Pony Thanks. Sorry, to hear about your health. Just remember, it only takes one special tree, real or not, big or small (that doesn’t take too much out of you) to celebrate the season. Just put all your good feelings about Xmas there
@mfladd I’ll see what I can do.
Dumb question, but how do you post a picture? Do I have up upload it to something like photobucket and paste a url?
@mtb002 Imgur.com It will convert it for you to post here.
@mtb002 you can use meh’s image uploader. If you’re on your phone, turn it sideways before you start typing in the text box. A menu will appear with a bunch of icons. Click the one that looks kinda like a moon over a mountain.
Ok, for some reason, the upload button wasnt showing me the folder my picture was in last night. The tree is 9 foot. Skinny so we dont lose our whole living room. I put it up thanksgiving and spent the rest of that week decorating. I have a new base this year that spins, so I had to decorate the whole thing, not just the front 1/3, so it took a lot longer, but the effect is really neat. The tree is very different every year depending on what ornaments are picked out. I buy enough each year that when the kids grow up they should have enough to take with and decorate their own trees. The lights turn from clear to colored, so thats why the 2 pictures.
@mtb002 Beautiful! See…programmable lights…that’s what I am talking about. I have my eyes on some when they get discounted.
And rotates?! With that star you might even be able to save some wayward sailors from a rocky shore. That is goodwill.
@mfladd
We have lots of tree toppers from various stages of the kids interests, Belle, Yoda, a Death Star. But my oldest hates Star Wars right now unless its BB8 or R2D2, so the snowflake is the only thing they all agree on right now.
@mtb002 gasp…hates SW?? What kind of blasphemy is that!!!
@ivannabc
I know, it hurts. But I’m taking the other two to the 6pm show tomorrow, their enthusiasm makes up for her puzzling dislike.
@mtb002
I hope irk took note of the candy canes. They are a staple.
@mtb002 We splurged the extra $1.00 for the Hawaiian Punch ones this year!
@mtb002 I put those on my tree usually too. I always get the weird flavors like dr pepper or sour warhead and I’m always disappointed.
I understand about the kids not appreciating fine tv and movies. My son doesn’t fully understand my love of ST: TOS. He liked TNG well enough but can’t quite get why I adore spock, Kirk, bones, and especially nurse chapel.
@mfladd me too except mine were jelly bellys!
@mfladd, love your tree.
Here are some of mine.
@f00l Those are very nice, but they must be a bitch to put away every year
@mfladd
The Ents take care of them year-round. .
@mfladd
I don’t decorate much for the holidays. I let some local family household do all that. They love it.
I suppose my tastes could change, with changes in people and situations.
Right now, if one views seasonal decorations in terms Stan Lynde’s classic Rick O’Shea comic in the Western town of “Conniption”, my tastes are not so much those of "Rick O’Shea and his family.
My preferences run a little closer to those of Hipshot Percussion.
@mfladd
My inflatable tree, also posted in another tread. I have since added 2 strings of LED lights. I also added more doughnut and cupcake ornaments on the wall. It’s a sight to behold. I had to remove the Tribble tree-topper because it kept falling off. I was hoping it would multiply, but alas it did not.
@heartny you need to provide some quadrotriticale to your tribble will be able to reproduce…
@Barney
@duodec Good to know. I’ll get right on it
@heartny I love the shiny “balloon” dogs.
@heartny I love that tree! It has a Dr. Suess feel to it. Don’t give up on tribble babies yet.
Ours is up but still surrounded by boxes; extra Christmas decor and boxes in prep to ship to family; no pic for you (yet). We aren’t doing as involved decor as we used to but its still a pretty tree.
@duodec Looking forward too it!
@mfladd Here 'tis
A number of the ornaments are handmade, or handed down; a couple were on my Dad’s tree when he was a kid, and others my wife made in her pottery classes.
@duodec It’s awesome! I love the purple lights (ping @Barney). Love that you rock the handmade ornaments and handed down ones. Love those best. Thanks for posting!
@mfladd Thanks for making this topic!
I wish we could do as much as we used to (work, sigh…) but we love having Christmas up in and on the house.
@Kawa Very nice! Interesting mounting angle
@mfladd The dreaded sideways-mobile-upload bug strikes again!
@Kawa
Are those lighted antlers on top?
Florida Christmas trees.
@RiotDemon It’s like a Corona commercial. Feliz Navidad!
@mfladd haha, yeah. Nice sunny and cool day.
@RiotDemon I Miss FL
@dagirlgenius come visit anytime.
@RiotDemon This is why you shouldn’t put Christmas lights on palm trees:
@heartny haha, penises.
I have one of those multicolored projector lights on them instead. Plus they are pokey palms. No way in hell would I put lights on them.
@heartny Hahahahaha!
"Ok, who the hell approved this design!?"
Here’s our beautiful “Chrismukkah” tree (Christmas Tree in Hanukkah colors)
@mandirose It is beautiful. Please tell me that dog isn’t taxidermy art?!
@mfladd Haha no Jagger is very real, my boyfriend is holding a treat. Behind the scenes bloopers have his hand in it
Happy Chrismukkah Jagger!
Don’t chew the dreidel!
Our “damn” tree, as it has been called so many times in the past, is still in the attic in its bag :)… goal is to have it up this weekend!!!
Homemade ornaments are the bestest!
@mfladd Since you didn’t answer my last email, I am going to assume that has changed as well as your address?? Did you do a better job of erasing that from the internet??? We have tons of ornaments we would share!!!
@mikibell You emailed me? I have been bad about checking certain addresses this year. Sorry! Yes, address is different. Your such a sweetie.
Get that “DAMN” tree out!
@mfladd I have some I could send too - unfortunately it would be after christmas as they are in my storage unit and I am not going back to that town until January - but they are all either bought at high end craft shows, in germany when I lived there, or were some really nice commercial ones… I gave a family I stayed with some of the time I was homeless my really beautiful full sized fake tree (molded needles, pine cones - saved for several years to get that tree; people thought it was real and when the cats climbed it it barely even rocked back and forth) as a thank you and I haven’t replaced it yet. When I do buy another tree it will be much smaller. As a result I’ll have some really nice ornaments left over. Email me at my user name or the mechricanexchange6 at the usual yahoo if you are interested.
@mfladd the “damn” tree is in the living room, shivering in its nakedness, with only a few ornaments modestly covering the naughty parts! More ornaments might appear during the week
@mikibell It has naughty parts? Want kind of ornaments are going on this thing exactly?
I want to see it "damn"it!
@mfladd sans angel…and needs more garlands…
@mikibell OMG! I love it. That thing is packed full of decorations
@mfladd hehehe…and that was just two boxes brought down from the garage shelves. the boy decorated it while i made Christmas presents. From the jibber jabber when the girl came home, the tree has specific areas of ornaments… Toys here, fruits and vegetables there, vehicles over there…smh…
@mikibell That is beautiful! Love the decorations!
@Calabama thank you…it is a disappointment to me because I LOVE real trees and I am allergic… so instead of those wonderful fulls tree we had for so many years, I have a skinny fake tree… I will live though!!!
Some of us rock around, even if there aint no damn tree.
http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/12/hip-hop_grandpa_dances_at_phil.html
@therealjrn He’s awesome!
Ah, Christmas in Philly. There’s really nothing quite like it:
@therealjrn I’ve seen Hip Hop Grandpop a few times in person. Last time was two weeks ago at City Hall where the Christmas Village (shops) are set up. It looks like that’s where the video is from. About three months ago I was sitting in Smoke’s Poutinerie on South Street watching him dance in front of the store. He doesn’t have that many moves, but he sure gets around town.
@cinoclav Cool! Good for him! He’s got more moves than me!
@dave Haha Holy Shit! Do you live in a Macy’s? Does the giant “F” ornament represent “Fuck”? Bet it has a train that has smoke
It’s gorgeous!
@dave Awesome angle! BEAUTIFUL tree! How long did it take to decorate it?
@dagirlgenius Thanks! A couple hours, but some of that is because we split a bottle of champagne while decorating.
@dave It’s really lovely. I’m guessing you don’t have a cat?
@mfladd No, F to pay respects
@dagirlgenius Nice modern tree.
I love seeing all the different trees people are posting. I am waiting for the post modern or steam punk trees to get posted. That, or I want to see the person who really is using a Charlie Brown tree. Keep’em coming!
@mfladd Mine’s pretty close to a Charlie Brown tree (see below).
@mfladd Pretty much what we will be doing. Youngest tried to grow a bonsai from a seed, then sort of forgot all about it. It’s now 4 feet tall and scraggly. Guess we’ll bring it in this weekend and hang the stray ornament I just happen to have tucked away in a cabinet (AND it’s red).
/image steampunk christmas
no not real
@Cerridwyn I am strangely drawn to steampunk!
I have a couple of traditional Christmas trees but I rarely get them out. I haven’t had much enthusiasm for the holidays the past couple of years but I got this 4’ tree out of the garage and put some things under it this year. I haven’t wrapped anything yet, only bags and shirt boxes so far.
@moondrake I like it, Lucy! The simplicity of Christmas. Let it serve to rekindle your holiday joy this year
@moondrake So far, this one is my favorite.
@lisaviolet Thanks so much! Life got in the way of our group’s Christmas plans (including me, I was only able to pick up my gift ceramics yesterday), so we decided to combine our Christmas party with the New Year’s eve party. People dropped off gifts and I finally got my wrapping done, so now my little tree looks like this.
My tree is up but not decorated yet. I’ll finish it tomorrow I hope!
@ivannabc Post when finished!
@KDemo FOR THE REST OF US!
@therealjrn
Very design.
Wow.
Is this one going to MOMA or to the Guggenheim or the Getty after the holidays?
@f00l - Seinfeld wing of the National Treasures of Popular Culture, Smithsonian Institution.
@KDemo Simplistic. A deconstruction and interpretive look at holiday mass culture. If you’re interested - it’s VERY expensive.
@mfladd -
@mfladd
I believe you about the price.
But for the collector! Art in one’s home!
And the potential gains in value over time!
As well as this tree being a true work if genius and beauty, and a mark of discerning taste for the owner, it’s an investment.
@KDemo
What is that link to? Doesn’t load For my mobile browser.
@f00l - Not to mention, it doubles as a coat rack in emergencies.
@f00l - It’s Twitter. Someone dropped a glove at MoMA, and patrons didn’t know if it was an exhibit.
Easy to put up, easy to put away…
Both the tree and the cat!
@transplant Quick and easy I like! That’s a great Xmas card shot.
My new holiday tree.
@heartny Grinch Tree. You can even see it in the writing they used. They just didn’t want to pay the royalties Sweet!
Calling out @Thumperchick, @denboy, and @woodhouse to show us them Xmas trees.
@mfladd Ok, I’ll bite. Here’s my underwhelming submission.
Happy December!
@denboy There is no such thing as an underwhelming submission when it comes to Xmas trees. They all are wonderful and full of seasonal joy!
Your tree is fantastic!
@mfladd Thanks. It’s all about the idea and enjoyment of it…not the quality of the final product.
@mfladd Here you go.
@mfladd I don’t have any furniture in my new apartment, let alone a christmas tree in a 3rd floor walk up.
@woodhouse
So you moved onto the third floor of one of the various apartment behemoths in Dallas or Collin counties?
Ouch. Hope it’s otherwise nice.
@f00l Yup, something like that. It’s nice being close to everything, though!
@woodhouse You could at least but a blow up tree like @heartny did. It’s quite nice. #feelthejoy
Our neighbors have a piece of land further up the hill. Every year they take some trees, sell them, and donate the money to the Bear Yuba Land Trust. We got this one right off their truck.
We made sure to place it so it doesn’t block the door to the sippin’ booze cabinet.
@SSteve Steep hill.
@therealjrn Hell of a tree stand though.
@SSteve Very nice! And doing good with the purchase
Here’s the one near the end of our driveway some 500 feet from the house. It was too cold for me to get out of the car and get close enough to it for a good picture. Maybe I will if it warms up.
@sligett Gorgeous in the the snow!
It’s such a relief to know I’m not the only one to take several days to put up and decorate the tree!
@mfladd your tree is absolutely gorgeous and those ornaments make it so special! If you go for the after Christmas sales, get more blanks or kits. (Bead ornament kits are great)
Almost every ornament on my tree has memories attached: Antiques from my in-laws, hand made or gifts from friends, family, and me. Every year I try to get an ornament that says something about what we were doing that year: a camera when I got into photography, Harry Potter when my son and I were obsessed, Geocaching, computers, Canada when my son moved there for a while, our first Christmas, baby’s first christmas, etc. Unwrapping ornaments is a sweet stroll down memory lane.
@callow Nice!
@callow Candy canes…not Irk approved
@denboy Then Irk can’t have any peppermint bark!
@callow Hmmm, what might irk say about peppermint bark?
@callow Lovin your tree! And thank you. You are right about the ornaments. I think when every ornament has a specific meaning or memory it is so much more special than just making it look nice.
@callow Beautamus!
@callow Beautiful! You obviously don’t have a cat.
@heartny LOL I have two. They don’t climb the tree and only play with the ornaments on the bottom so they are all plastic. On the other hand, the year we had two puppies in the house this was our tree.
The merriest of Christmases to you and your little ones! Your tree reminds me of the one my husband & I cobbled together for our 14 month old on Christmas eve while in temporary transient housing at Fort Ord forever ago. I remember cutting snowflakes out of coffee filters, and combing through the leftover bin of the last of the dinged & damaged Christmas ornaments at the post exchange. My husband even managed to find the last set of tree lights in the exchange: old fashioned C-9 lights.
Thanks for rekindling a very old memory.
This year’s tree? Well, it’s gonna be a sad affair. I’ll post a photo if we can pull something together. It’s been quite a rollercoaster since the beginning of November.
@LaVikinga Thanks. Merriest of Christmases to your clan also. I am glad that brought back a good memory. Snowflakes out of coffee filters is brilliant. Post when you have a pic
@LaVikinga
I’m just glad you Florida folk have roofs.
I haven’t had a tree up for years and years. I live alone, and don’t have any interest in decorating for the holiday. I’m comfortable with things they way they are, and I don’t think I’ve even rearranged the furniture in most of the rooms for several years. However, it’s been so pleasant to see all the trees everyone has put up that I thought I’d share one from years ago. The official title was “Artificial Celebratory Non-Denominational Conifer” and was decorated in the way you’d expect a bunch of hackers would decorate.
@Shrdlu Haha Caffeine and Roms!
@mfladd I was a bit confused by your comment, until I realized you thought those were CDs. Nope, disk platters. There may have been a couple of CDs, but there’s nothing so pretty as someone else’s data. :-}
You are correct on the caffeine, though. Very observant. My, my, I just realized that I still have that turkey (one of the ornaments) somewhere around here. Those were fun days.
@Shrdlu I did. But I am also confusing by nature. Pull that turkey ornament out and hang it up for the holidays!
Calling out @Del to show her tree!
@mfladd
My lazy tree just unpacked. Thank you, Amazon.
@Del Yay!
@Del That tree is freaking sweet! Did it come with free Molly, or a Burning Man dvd?
@Del
Like.
/
Calling out @Katylava, @JonT, and @hollboll to give us a glimpse of their sweet, sweet Xmas trees!
@mfladd is all I got.
@katylava That’s all you need. May the spirit of the tree be with you this holiday season!
@Thumperchick Wait a sec! Is it SNOWING outside your window!?
@Thumperchick Very nice! If that angel starts moving when you are not looking - get out!
@LaVikinga yes. We got about a foot of the fluff for the first winter storm this year.
@mfladd
/giphy Don’t Blink
@Thumperchick That’s ok, when you posted the link to your tree pic up above late last night, I was like Holy Shit – she just folded space and time in this thread like a Guild Navigator from Dune.
Then I realized you didn’t and that I am just a HUGE FUCKING NERD for that to enter my head!
@Thumperchick if i could give you more then 1 star i would!
Life has changed for me a lot in the past 2 months also… so… no tree this yr. I will resume for next Christmas.
@lseeber I hear ya. I hope things change for the better. Any little thing you can pull out to represent?
Actually, I’m doing pretty well but having had to tear thru the house searching out paperwork, etc. And packing up a lot of stuff the house is in just too much disarray. I will celebrate Christmas tho at my daughter’s house this yr and then our big family Christmas at my sister’s. All will be well, thanks!
First tree for our new house. The spouse has good memories of a silver tree. We thought it came with the color wheel but we only got part of it. If anyone sees a good deal on a color wheel even a broken one for parts, I am interested. Looked at buying one and it seems to be in demand right now for some reason. I will have to check again after the new year.
@speediedelivery Beautiful! Forgive my ignorance, but what is a color wheel?
@mfladd There is a spotlight with a motor that rotates the these colors on the tree. I had never heard of it either. I plan to check the sales in a week or so to see if I can get one at a decent price.
@speediedelivery I would have guessed that, but I have never actually seen one before. It’s cool.
After this was taken, we wrapped the pot in some festive DollarTree glittery cotton drape, added candy canes and a few small stuffed Santas I had made years ago, an extra super-long glass bauble & gold ring necklace I found stashed in a drawer, and two zebra head drawer pulls a friend gave us a few years ago. Oh yeah, at the top there’s a princess crown ornament I found at walmart–I was going to add Viking horns to it as a joke, but never got around to it.
@LaVikinga
@LaVikinga
Am in love with this tree.
@RiotDemon
I don’t want to think too much right now about the statement my clothing often makes, or the story it tends to tell.
I’m hearing the words “barely functional” whispered as a theme statement.
@f00l Mine says Bimbo Amazon Who Likes Wearing Smartass Woot Shirts, Give-Up-On-Diet/Life-Yoga Pants, and who enjoys the occasional gin martini while rocking a purple stripe in her hair.
@LaVikinga I love purple.
@LaVikinga
Bet that’s a Purple Racing Stripe you got there.
/giphy "need for speed"
@f00l Well, yeah, it sorta IS. Right over my left eye & done in such a way I can comb my hair “just so” if I need to make it a bit more subtle when I’m going to be around the pearl clutchers.
@LaVikinga
Just remind the “pearl clutchers” that they live in Florida! by choice.
No one forces them to commune with hurricanes and gators other “Floridian characters” at gunpoint.
@f00l Even when it’s cold enough for a fire, it’s still not a painful, brutal cold. My husband has been trying to get out of Florida for 40 years. The Navy moved us out a few times, but then kept pulling us back in. I kinda like the warmer weather. The humidity, not so much. The palmetto bugs/roaches even less. :::shudder:::
The pearl clutchers tend to be my more straight-laced older friends that I feel I need to tuck away the wild child when I’m around. It’s kinda like being on your best behavior around very staid, Aunties.
@LaVikinga
My Always-Right Grandmother wore brooches, hosiery, and hats every time she went downtown or to a department store, thru, I think, the early 80’s.
She finally gave up much of it, except for church and social functions, given that “even Nancy Reagan doesn’t dress up that much just to go shopping, after all.”
And she mostly gave up the hats.
I’m afraid -and I’m not humble-bragging here - that most respectable folk who know me have kinda given up on the idea that I will ever really be civilized, even tho my dress and personal presentation are pretty low-key, and I never deliberately tried to behave in a truly offbeat manner in their presence.
(Not that I could always tell when I was setting off all the alarms)
(but who can tell? They thought I was nuts and into weirdness and risk-taking, I thought they were nuts and slaves to uncritical conventional thinking and conduct).
My mother always dreamed I would join a sorority, and then get married to “someone nice” (Ie very conventional), and join the Junior Women’s Club and the Junior League, and some “suitable charities and bridge groups”.
She seemed to think this was a true fairy tale of a life. I thought it sounded like a version of Hell.
Sigh. Instead, I am the family fuck-up in some ways. A number of ways.
Always-Right Grandmother has been gone now more than 25 years.
And tho she was open in her criticism of any departures from the social norms of her peers, she didn’t really mind if you pushed back. She wanted us to stand our ground if we believed in it.
She was a born debater. She always wanted to hear all sides in full, and she always wanted the last word.
Loudly and emphatically.
And the rest of us: we seem to have all given up on reforming each other’s conventionality, or lack-of, now.
I think, I hope, that’s good.
@f00l I linked the video for a different reason besides discussing fashion. I found it funny that a bunch of Norwegians were poking fun at horns on Viking helmets because it seems that everyone nowadays thinks it was a thing, when it really wasn’t.
Even my dad wore a shirt that said “take a liking to a Viking” with a cartoony Viking with horns on it.
@RiotDemon Why would I lick a viking?
@therealjrn
I just can’t help it. You really shouldn’t tempt us that way, you know.
Because it’s there, fucker.
Because it’s there.
/giphy Viking
/image Everest
@f00l mmm, tastes minty.
@therealjrn
Then, if you can obtain from various Vikings their ongoing permissions, of course, perhaps you have found a calling?
@f00l Permission obtained beforehand is paramount in the Viking licking game. One does not wish to anger the Viking.
@therealjrn Oh, I don’t know…for fun, maybe?
@therealjrn I had to check and make sure I didn’t have a typo.
As long as all parties consent, it will be a good time.
@RiotDemon I am staying out of this. But I would never turn down a good Nordic lick.
@LaVikinga That is a very lovely tree!
@mfladd smart man.
Finally got our tree decorated. It’s a bit lopsided and everytime we touch it needles fall off but we like it.
I also got a motorized tree cookie jar and filled it with Red Bird mints and Hershey’s kisses. But you can’t get any delicious candy without listening to “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. Ho ho ho!
And totally not tree related we put together the Lego Winter train station and motorized the train we got last year. It goes forward and backwards with a remote! Woo! If only it had a whistle and some nice fake smoke. We have pretty much the whole Lego winter village- I need to put some more buildings down.
@sammydog01 That’s a beautiful tree, even with a tuuuumah
Ok, I just put a bunch of those Red Bird mints into a candy jar because my daughter loves that type of mint. But she won’t eat them because she says they are not the right ones! I think she wants the ones they sell at walmart
Millennials!
Merry Christmas!
My main tree.
Decorations of blue on a white Christmas Tree, gonna be a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas.
Ombré tree, dark blue at the bottom, getting lighter blue going up the tree.
@Calabama W-O-W!
@Calabama That is AMAZING Cal!
@therealjrn
Thank you, hoped you would like them!
My trees began as small ones and as I find more decorations, I had to get bigger trees. Years of collecting.
Thank goodness for after Christmas sales.
The Dickens Village was handed down to me, along with other decorations.
@mfladd Thanks, I love decorating, specially for a Christmas, I leave the winter stuff up till I get tired of them, lights help those gray winter days.
I leave Christmas up too long! Not outside!
@Calabama very nice! It snowed for the first time this year tonight.
@therealjrn OHHHH, a white Christmas!!!
Only had one when I was two and we were stationed in Illinois, don’t remember.
Are you glad?
I wish ours had waited now!
How is Mr. Whiskers? Allie loved the snow! Cats, not so much.
Bundle up, it is cold out there!
@Calabama My floors are all hardwood and ceramic tile. He’s alternating between avoiding the cold floor, bitching at me and seeking out new, warm, above-ground spots. lol Poor skinny baby.
@therealjrn That is all I have too, my lab loves the floors cold but the cats stay as little as possible off those floors. Wish I had put some radiant heat under the ceramic tile, I have to wear flipflops on them. Might have to get little rugs to walk on, you probably had carpet at your other place. I had to make a path of rugs for a big ole lab that had trouble walking on the tile. Her injury came from slipping on the tile floor, running to get her food.
He is a poor kitty in his health but because you saved him, he is a happy kitty, with cold floors!
Have you fully moved in your new place?
@Calabama If by “fully moved in” you mean “sleeping and eating” at the new place then, yes, I’ve fully moved in. lol. I’m getting situated a little bit more each day.
I’ve become a house-shoe wearer. I didn’t need them before with the wall-to-wall carpet. But with these cold floors…One benefit of the new flooring I’ve enjoyed is a significant reduction in nasal issues for me.
Breathing is nice.
@therealjrn I am not a slipper person either, my feet get hot! So I keep my flops nearby.
Glad you’re breathing is better. No carpet is the best!
I told you before that is the best way to move. What a luxury!
Been cleaning all day. Yuk! Sis just got here. Shhh, she is already touching my nerves! Lol! I am taking her to see “A Christmas Carol” at The Shakespeare Festival tomorrow in Montgomery.
Do you have plans for the big day?
I am going to roast a prime rib, mashed taters/gravy, salad, corn casserole and a beautiful chocolate cake!!! Keeping it simple.
@Calabama Your dinner sounds wonderful!
My holiday will be spent Christmas eve at my brother’s house. My Julie will bring the grandchildren and my favorite son-in-law. We’re going to have a open taco bar, gifts and all that before going to church for caroling and communion. Julie has two other families to parade the grandkids around in, so her Christmas day is going to be on the road.
Christmas day I have loose plans to catch up with some other single friends for a pot latch or something.
Keeping it simple is definitely the plan.
@therealjrn That sounds wonderful!
I DO love tacos! And super easy, great idea!
So glad you are with your family. Those grands must be nice to have, I would love a house full!
Julie is such a pretty name. Ha, your fav son-in-law!
I have been listening to “Hallelujah” a lot lately. It can make you cry and feel good at the same time.
Listened to many of his songs. Penetonix has a good version too.
I know you will have fun with your friends. And have some fun for me!
Sis already in bed, long trip, two drinks and dinner.
Rather nice, hehe!
@Calabama And I can’t forget my little buddies over in the Green Grotto. I’ve been a little too busy to post much over there…some of my mystery box was wrapped packages so I’ll be able to open them and post in a few days!!
@therealjrn That would be a great idea, they are missing you! You might get a lil cussing out! They just love you! I have been busy around the house, I have not posted much. Been a little down, do not need to spread it! I posted some this week. We want to see your SS LOOT! So come on back, you brought me there and deserted me!
Oogie is sick, mbs did something to her back, Dave gave Wooster a few days off, check his vacation shots! I have missed your posts! They ask about you a lot! Purty Please with sugar on top!
@Calabama You know, they are welcome to come post here. lol I have had a pretty busy month.
@therealjrn
LOL! Where do you think I am!
Yes and I like it here! You told me I would. Can talk a little more open! Enjoy the people here too! So crazy, good kind.
You have had a super busy month and I have thoroughly enjoyed the GoaT! I voted for you because I never know what you are going to say next and thought you would be great, was right!
Cannot believe your reign is almost over.
@Calabama Apparently, my nomination was predicated on that. lol
And now, now…we have quite a list of future nominees!
Isn’t that right Calabama?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@therealjrn WHAAT? I know nothing!
Do you know someone that would be good? Please let me know!
@Calabama
@therealjrn
Sigh …

@f00l Lol, How did you know that is how I said it, in my head? Thanks for the gif, loved that show!
@Calabama
I still love that show.
I think, emotionally speaking, I’m still in second grade or something.
/youtube Hogan’s Heros
@f00l I logged a LOT of time with Hogan’s Heroes. My husband & I refer to actress Nita Talbot as “Hogan, darling” rather than by her name (she played Marya).
This is mine…!
@yasna007 but is it real?
@RiotDemon And the cycle repeats! Lol!
@Calabama timBRRRR, that was scary!
@therealjrn I know, you really should say timber, BEFORE the tree falls, you are dangerous!
I have to say this has been one of the best Christmas I’ve had in awhile. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday.
@mehbee I am glad. Your tree is beautiful! Enjoy the day *<{:-)>
@mfladd Maybe this will post right. FYI, your post was beautiful.
@mehbee Thanks. And I am use to turning my computer sideways with you lot
Don’t have one this year. So… in the spirit of christmas I “borrowed” this one.
@Kidsandliz If this tree brings you Xmas joy, it is yours. Merry Christmas, ya crazy old cat lady!
Anyone have a photo of their tree with their cat up it pretending to be a festive decoration? If I had a tree that would be the situation in my household LOL
@Kidsandliz I have four cats, only thing they do is drink the water. I did have a kitten one Christmas, bit the cords on tree!
I ran over unplugged them, she got loose and stayed under a cupboard for three days. She came out, was fine. Had not named her, nothing seemed right. I named her Sparky.
She lived a long time and was kinda different but sweet and beautiful, a long haired tuxedo.
When she got fixed took seven shots to put her out, Doc said he had never seen that before.
@Kidsandliz Found this for you, hope it is not a rerun.
@Calabama Nope not a rerun. Last year we had a number of cat in tree pictures. Once I had 3 up the tree at the same time.
@Kidsandliz luckily my cats don’t climb the tree. My mom shared a story with me yesterday about one of our previous cats. First year we had her, she climbs the tree, knocks it over, and never climbed the tree again.
