Who of you is part of the 1-3% accessing Meh from a tablet? Just curious. I used to use mine a lot more often than I do now (mostly because it’s now horribly out of date).
It’s me, or not me, depending on where I am and what I am doing. I will use the tablet if I am sitting on the couch reading the paper, usually I prefer the computer due to hating to type on the tablet or phone and having issues with Otto Kerrekt or when I try to do voice to text having it TOTALLY mess up what I said (Lately my phone tries to type it in Spanish, on and off.)
If I’m in the middle of doing tablety stuff, it’s a tablet.
If I’m in the middle of keyboardy stuff it’s a computer (usually a laptop).
If I’m desperate (Doing Phony stuff?), a phone.
User agent identification
When a software agent operates in a network protocol, it often identifies itself, its application type, operating system, device model, software vendor, or software revision, by submitting a characteristic identification string to its operating peer. In HTTP,[2] SIP,[3] and NNTP[4] protocols, this identification is transmitted in a header field User-Agent. Bots, such as Web crawlers, often also include a URL and/or e-mail address so that the Webmaster can contact the operator of the bot.
Try typing “user-agent” (w.o. quotes) into your browser URL bar and see how yours responds.
Wow, gifs seem to have a preference for green (turquoise? light teal?) hands, but at least they’re hands, bot. Nice try. Anyway, i almost always use my phone for everything.
I almost never use a tablet unless you count my phone - which is really just a small tablet these days. (Obligatory rant about the evils of GBoard’s insanity-inducing Speech To Text (f)utility.)
@chienfou And I pretty much can’t get mine to recognize a word in Spanish at all; it even ignores a bunch of the ones that have been appropriated into English around here. (Okay, some of those are impolite, but this pinche cabrón ignores the other ones, too.)
99.9% i’m either on my pc, or smartphone. (for this site, mainly PC)
I Do have a Tablet that i still use (and several relatively ancient ones I don’t), it’s a slightly older MS Surface( new enough it upgraded to 11), that I got to replace a couple of Old Laptops, that I primarily use for Forscan.
(Windows only, Free, Ford(and some Mazda) scantool)
just needed something relatively compact, didn’t take 10 min to load, Runs windows and has Built in Bluetooth.
@earlyre I got a new $80 “Chromebook-grade” Windows laptop for this purpose. My car is a hybrid and regular OBD2 scanners aren’t programmed to talk to the battery control module.
@earlyre@narfcake
tablets for dedicated functions are a great option.
I use an ancient kindle for running my Pandora feed to the wireless speaker transmitter, and a chromebook for the monitor cameras I have at Mom’s next door to watch for falls.
Most days I’m coming here on my iPad. I do email triage (and a bunch of other things) from my iPad while kicked back at my desk before settling into real work for the day.
It is not me. I am on a computer.
I use my phone, tablet is out of date also. It’s not worth the money to keep up with everything they come out with now days imo

@chienfou Spanish, that’s a new one! Haha
@PooltoyWolf

@mehcuda67
THIS
My 11+" Lenovo Flex Chromebook with TouchScreen has a “tablet mode”, but I generally use it as a “notebook” laptop. Does that count? (I doubt Meh counts it that way.)

@phendrick I do wonder how it knows. I assume by looking at something in the OS or browser specs.

@PooltoyWolf Also note:

including how to spoof it
you, too, can be a nerd
@phendrick Makes sense! Probably also how websites know whether to display the mobile version of the page.
I almost always use my phone except for when the Driving Game thread gets too overloaded and then I switch to my laptop; usually not a tablet.
Tablet here
Desktop about 3/4, tablet about 1/4. On rare occasions phone.

@werehatrack
yeah… lately mine has decided that I am speaking Spanish for some reason about 20% of the time. Super annoying.

(Just rolled 230k miles yesterday.)
@narfcake I’m driving a 2013 C-Max with ~91k mi.

100% cell phone for me and @charliedoggo steals my phone all the time to read the threads. He is so nosey!!
Very rarely. 4K TV on the computer, with far too many tabs open.

Was today the first time there were no tablet users??
