I wear sandals instead of slippers in house. The “office” is in the basement and I haven’t gotten around to flooring over the concrete yet so… Sometimes I wear them out. They are not flip flops… Or thongs as my dad likes to call them
@Lisa102503 Heck you don’t even need to be in the desert for that to happen. I live in the deep south east of the MS River and it is generally too hot to go barefoot on pavement around here too. I remember growing up in the snow belt where we’d have about 6-8 weeks of deep south like temps and barefoot on the sidewalk was hot - that was even with lots of callus on my feet due to going barefoot inside and out most of the summer (we had flip flops that we wore but usually were barefoot unless in a store, church…).
While i’d love to be barefoot or wear cute/comfy sandals, stupid feet and a need for prescription orthotics means shoes. But around the house, barefoot as much as possible.
As kids in the summer we were mostly barefoot and the goal was to be able to walk down the gravel driveway barefoot without flinching.
In the winter we’d be barefoot in the snow as we’d slide down the sidewalk trying to make it turn to ice faster (so we could then slide down it with our boots on more easily). We’d toss water on it, slide down, run inside to stand on the radiator while our feet thawed (and boy that hurt as they’d burn and tingle as they’d warm up), rinse and repeat. My mom claimed she had no idea we were out in the snow with snow suits on and nothing on our feet. How she could have have known (since we’d do this for hours) I do not know. More likely she figured if we were that stupid it was our problem, not hers.
Outside: Shooz.
Inside: No shooz.
I wear shoes in my home. On my days off.

There are cruel and usual punishment laws against showing my feet in public.
@hchavers usual punishment? How often are you called in and why?
Brooks when going for a walk, leather dress-ish shoes at work and Birks pretty much the rest of the time.
I have been wearing Tevas for years, but I am now in the process of trying to find a pair of Chacos I like, for a reasonable price.
FitFlops. All summer long.
Boat shoes, no socks if for a quick trip to the store. Golf shoes when playing. Barefoot around the house.
Sneakers until I sit down for the night because I’m on my feet so much.
When you live in the Southwest desert, YOU MUST WEAR SHOES outside! 12+ hours of sunshine makes everything outside hot! Like 115°F hot

I know it’s Sunday but how has no one shown up with their Crocs yet
