They've shipped some items FedEx Ground, and I've got a feeling Snapster has a good relationship with FedEx from Woot, so he stuck with what works. "Hey, I'm the Woot guy, I want to discuss a new contract, I need lots of Smartpost, let's do this."
Sidebar: Was Woot smartpost-only at the start? I'm not sure how long smartpost has been around for.
@RicoSuave That's what SmartPost is. FedEx hands off to USPS. But I know they shipped the coffee thing via Ground, pretty sure the vacuum cleaner was Ground too.
@Collin1000 our post office had no idea what Smartpost was when I stopped in looking for my fukukrotchrocket. They had no way to reference the taking number and thought we were trying to steal or scam something. The fuku showed up the next day.
@marklog Since the labels are veerrrryyyy close to a standard USPS label, I'd expect them to just know it as "mail that shows up here and we deliver it"

@Collin1000 I have vague memory of when wooters started complaining about it, so I don't think Woot was always Smartpost only.
@Collin1000 smartpost came in pretty late in the game. I remember when some dude got kudos for designing the snail with the package on the back.
@marklog I remember the shipping snail. I was fond of the snail on a rocket ship during the holidays.
@Collin1000 I've gotten all my things through USPS..

@marklog Was that Josephus that designed the snail?
@pooflady far too detailed for this brain, but sounds familiar. He's around here I think. @josephus, show thyself and take credit!

Ahh the shipping snail. Forgot about that.... Good memory @marklog. Wait...wait.... Blast you @marklog for making me forget the snail.
