I have a tooth that’s really infected. It’s gotta be way, way down under the tooth bc my teeth don’t hurt at all. My gland in my throat is so swollen, it hurts so freaking bad. I can’t eat, talk or swallow. Only reason I figured out it was a tooth was bc my dr pressed on the inside on my gums by my throat and I jumped off the table. Of course the dentist is closed till Monday. So I’ll be having tons of fun.
Second worst pain I ever had was an abscesed molar.
The worst was an ear infection.
This is from me, who fractured his femur, had a displaced nasal fracture, and that was all before I played rugby in college.
God bless you.
Local heat and salt water w/ baking soda oral rinses along with acetaminophen and naproxen are the best OTC things you can do for yourself while waiting.
Making some homemade bucatini, an all day Bolognese, sanding the heck out of the Vader build I’m working on, probably shoveling some snow and if the roads are good I’ll be catching for my daughter in the pitching lane. She has a terrifying fast ball.
I actually just finished running the bucatini through the extruder… I’ll let dry tonight and toss it in with whatever sauce I make tomorrow.
And the Vader build is also coming along nicely. Just so much sanding to do. All 3D printed.
Going up on the roof, if the tropical weather holds. The batteries in the weatherstation sensor are dead. It was 69 degrees on Wednesday. In Salt Lake? In February?
Grooming cats and cutting their nails. The food bank I volunteer at was giving out boxes of 150 bandaids (kid style patterns) last Wednesday so I will be set with skin decorations kids will envy in case the cats cause a need for them.
@PooltoyWolf Those are some cool old receivers. I run a modern Denon receiver for my main entertainment setup, but I’ve got an old Sony from the early 90’s that I use for my Fluance turntable. They just don’t make them with phono inputs anymore. And pushing it out through a pair of vintage Bose 301s sounds fantastic.
@PooltoyWolf That’s some really nice stuff! Here’s a photo of my stereo setup at home that has a nice vintage solid state receiver. I wanted to get a tube one, but they’re a bit too pricey for me. I’ll have to go to some ham radio flea markets to look for one, I guess.
Top to bottom: U-Turn Audio Orbit Basic turntable (made in Woburn, Mass. last year), HH Scott Stereomaster 342 receiver (made in Maynard, Mass. circa 1966), Panasonic DVD-RV32 DVD player (circa 2002).
@PooltoyWolf And my non-functioning Hallicrafters S-40 receiver, original model built in 1947. I fear it needs a new power transformer because it seems to be releasing the smoke contained within when it’s powered on.
@ItalianScallion@PooltoyWolf Nice. I’ve got a Fluance turntable that has a clear platter. Then I got a Hootie & the Blowfish album that is on clear vinyl. You can see through the record, through the platter to the bamboo plinth below. I dig it
@jouest@narfcake Great Wall Coolbear. I’d own one of these just so I could give the coolest answer ever to the question, “What kind of car do you have?”
Weather permitting on Saturday, I’ll take my freshly minted private pilot license for a spin. Weather be damned on Sunday, I’ll work on my instrument rating…
@ItalianScallion For me, the lapse between starting training and almost getting my license (interupted because of a move, new job, developing career, and growing family) was 21 years. That’s the time span in my log book between my last flight in my previous life and starting anew last March.
I highly recommend going to one of the AOPA rusty pilot seminars, or perhaps doing a discovery flight at a local airport to see if the bug still bites.
Flying out of SJO back to ATL.
Was due to fly out yesterday but got tagged on Ruta 27 in the rear by a driver that didn’t realize traffic had slowed down to a stop on the way in to the rental return. Thankfully no injuries and minor damage to both cars. Spent 3+ hours on the roadside waiting for the Policia Tránsito to show up for the necessary paperwork for the accident report and rental agency. Insurance rep was there (roadside) in half an hour! My Spanish is marginal but managed to “get-er-done” as they say in the South.
Had to scramble around to change flights, book an AirBnB etc. Thankfully I had bought the extra car insurance (which I never do) so that part was taken care of.
Looks like we (2 couples) will be out about a grand total for the experience for ticket change fees, lodging, food, Ubers etc.
Aside from that, the trip was a blast.
Oh well, c’est la vie.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@chienfou I was going to say that we need to talk about your luggage, but I’ve seen several nurses in interesting scrubs… so I’ll let it pass this time Hope you’re home safely.
Attending the annual Fairy Tale Ball this evening. Theme is Beauty and the Beast. Prior years were Aladdin, Robin Hood and Alice in Wonderland, which was my favorite due to the wondrous, over the top decor and props they placed throughout 2 floors. They hired a cast of character actors: Alices, who were sweet for photo ops, The Queen of Hearts, who oversaw the flamingo croquet game and goofy Mad Hatters who crash-joined our tea parties with their silly antics. Goofiness aplenty.
@Kyeh Adults are come-as-you-are, so the kids don’t get confused over the “real” Beauties and Beasts that they hire for the Ball. All kids are encouraged to dress in fairy tale costumes, but not mandatory
@Kyeh It’s hosted by the library’s amazing staff who dream up the wonderful ideas and games for this annual event. Fully paid by donations from the community. In attendance were Belle, Gaston, Beast, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts & Chip. The little costumed kids were chanting, “Beast! Beast! Beast!” while Gaston & the Beast arm wrestled outside the Ballroom. We colored in stained “glass” window cling-ons, created roses from book pages, did a book scavenger hunt for chocolate roses, threw beanbags into topiary targets and enjoyed strawberry crepes, crackers, fruit, tea and hot apple cider. Another fun experience, but the Alice in Wonderland theme still tops them all!
No. It’s raining
Wallowing in a puddle of my own self-pity and slowly dissolving in a puddle of my own tears.
@Wollyhop reasonable
@Cerridwyn @Wollyhop would we odd not to, honestly
@Wollyhop You only have yourself to blame this month.
@Wollyhop Lucky!
Running a DnD game that I’m wildly under-prepped for
@user35933254 DMing is for people who don’t get anxious enough by being unprepared for book club
@user35933254 Cool, DnD.
This guy’s been on a tear:

Sorry to hear that!
@Star2236 Want a little help with that?

Yup I’m doing that. I’m sure the smoking isn’t helping either lol
@Star2236
True dat!

@capnjb I hope you don’t accidentally feed the bucatini into the print head.
Doing a little work with the cacti and giving them a fresh batch of moo poo tea.
@yakkoTDI I think googling that would break my algorithm.
I can only assume that is some sort of fertilizer.
@capnjb @yakkoTDI A hint:
@capnjb @Kyeh @yakkoTDI Yippie-Yi-Yay Cow Patti!
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI That’s a Mu Moo. Not a moo poo
@capnjb @Kyeh The Mu Moo make the Moo Poo. Someone dries and bags it and I make the tea.
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI I’m not even sure how to respond to that. But I can offer a high-five
@capnjb @Kyeh @yakkoTDI I know about civet cat coffee (kopi luwak), but I’d never heard of Moo Poo tea.
@capnjb @yakkoTDI

Going up on the roof, if the tropical weather holds. The batteries in the weatherstation sensor are dead. It was 69 degrees on Wednesday. In Salt Lake? In February?
That’s an all time high for the month.
Heading for the book store and the craft store, then getting a stem cell injection in my knee and going home.
Grooming cats and cutting their nails. The food bank I volunteer at was giving out boxes of 150 bandaids (kid style patterns) last Wednesday so I will be set with skin decorations kids will envy in case the cats cause a need for them.
Does my first time selling at Orlando HamCation, with a blow up shep mascot, count?
@PooltoyWolf
Hope you have a super successful event!

@capnjb That Sony on the left side is a monster. STR-V5, close to top of the line in 1978. 85 real watts per channel.
@PooltoyWolf Nice! I bet it’s heavy as shit
@capnjb About 65 pounds!
@PooltoyWolf The heavy ones have the real deal inside them
@PooltoyWolf That’s some really nice stuff! Here’s a photo of my stereo setup at home that has a nice vintage solid state receiver. I wanted to get a tube one, but they’re a bit too pricey for me. I’ll have to go to some ham radio flea markets to look for one, I guess.

@ItalianScallion Hopefully it’s something easier and cheaper like a filter capacitor!
@PooltoyWolf How was your sale?
@PooltoyWolf Things started as a deafening 60 Hz hum, then I replaced the filters caps and now this. Oh well. I’ll get back to it one of these days.
@ItalianScallion @PooltoyWolf Nice. I’ve got a Fluance turntable that has a clear platter. Then I got a Hootie & the Blowfish album that is on clear vinyl. You can see through the record, through the platter to the bamboo plinth below. I dig it

@capnjb That is so cool!
Nothing special or crazy planned, but I do need to do the 250k miles service on my car.
@narfcake I live in the rust belt so the 250,000 mile service is crushing it into a cube.
@jouest What if it’s already a cube?
/image Nissan Cube

(Not that I’d believe there’d be one with 250k miles, what with their self-destructing CVT and all.)
@jouest @narfcake What a cool but geeky car. Too bad they don’t make them anymore.
@ItalianScallion @jouest Of all the compact boxes:
Scion xB: 2004-2015.
Nissan Cube: 2009-2014
Great Wall Coolbear: 2009-2015
Kia Soul: 2010-present.
@jouest @narfcake Great Wall Coolbear. I’d own one of these just so I could give the coolest answer ever to the question, “What kind of car do you have?”
@ItalianScallion @jouest

I’ll raise you their Ora Funky Cat.

/image Funky Cat
We don’t have them here for known reasons, of course. Also the name wasn’t well received in the UK and is now just an Ora 03.
Also the reason why it looks derivative from another company’s design is because it’s the same designer! He used to work for Porsche.
@ItalianScallion @jouest @narfcake I hate the look of those boxy cars but that Ora is really nice - I’d love to have one of those!
Weather permitting on Saturday, I’ll take my freshly minted private pilot license for a spin. Weather be damned on Sunday, I’ll work on my instrument rating…
@shahnm you might win
@jouest Will there be lots of cash and fabulous prizes?
@shahnm Congratulations!!! (Haven’t used my private pilot license in decades.)

@shahnm Excellent! Thanks

@chienfou That must have sucked, but at least you invested in a story you’ll have forever
@capnjb
Brand new Mitsubishi with less than 4,000 km on it. I guess it’ll be out of the fleet for a few days…
@chienfou I was going to say that we need to talk about your luggage, but I’ve seen several nurses in interesting scrubs… so I’ll let it pass this time
Hope you’re home safely.
@capnjb

This is what 8 days worth of luggage for Costa Rica looks like if you fly spirit.
@chienfou Yikes! I’m really glad no one got hurt! But what a nuisance.
@Kyeh yeah. It was a POO ITA but could have been worse!
@chienfou A “POO” ITA? I’ve heard of a PITA, but what’s a POO ITA? Other than what it sounds like?
@Kyeh
Stoopid “kerexion” when i cap locked it i guess. Need to proofread better. Posting this on/of airplanes and between flights…
@chienfou Oh, haha.
I hope your flights are all smooth and uneventful.
@chienfou aww, sorry to hear about the incident, but thrilled to hear everyone came out unscathed!
@tinamarie1974 @kyeh
Thanks… It gets “better”
Here is the Paul Harvey “rest -of-the-story” part.

@Kyeh Adults are come-as-you-are, so the kids don’t get confused over the “real” Beauties and Beasts that they hire for the Ball. All kids are encouraged to dress in fairy tale costumes, but not mandatory

I flew to the city of angels to see my best friend and we played animaniacs on Sunday!
@sillyheathen does playing animaniacs involve breaking into a water tower??
@jouest actually breaking out
