I bought one of these. It’s fine for bits of dirt from my houseplants but fails to hold a reasonable volume of dust bunny. Like maybe a half bunny. Or I should vacuum more frequently.
@alose If you’re anything like me, you’d probably be better off investing a little more & getting a shop vac. You’ll have to empty this thing so many times you’ll either give up or it’ll give out… or both.
@dvermilion@stishma@alose I have one if these and it’s fine for cleaning up the seats and floor of normal dust, not for the back if I’ve hauled bags of soil or plants or something. So it just depends on how dirty your car gets. It’s light and easy to maneuver into crevices.
@alose@dvermilion An in-between solution is using a battery-powered canister style vac. If you already have cordless tools from Makita, dewalt, Ridgid, or others, you can buy vacs on the same battery system that are pretty capable. Much better than the mini-vacs like this but not as hard to manage as a corded shop-vac style.
@pakopako volume, of course - fuzz tends to go airborne so I’m not sure how one can properly weigh it.
I wish there was a way to easily indicate the difference, always a problem when reading a recipes and you get to the “6 oz of papaya powder” item …
Bought one from Costco a few months ago and returned it pretty quickly. The battery life on this thing is atrocious. On a full charge you’re lucky to get 5 minutes. If you’re hell bent on using this for cleaning your car buy 2 unless you’ve got all day.
Bought this off meh on a previous sale. It’s a good little dust buster, good power, holds a charge. Good around the house for little messes, but vacuuming out your car is too big a job for this I think.
Bought this last time around and much happier with it than I expected. Keep it next to my workbench and just picked things up every time I make a mess.
I bought one of these from Meh. I agree with other commenters that the suction for a small device is impressive. It does fill up quickly with the small bin, but it’s useful to have for sure. The battery on mine is fine as well. Additionally I agree that the attachments are hard to keep in place, I feel like mine do click in, but it’s not easy to get them to stay.
Overall, I say it’s worth the price, especially if it’s not an everyday vacuum.
Does refurbished mean a brand new OEM battery?
I’m okay with refurbs except when the refurb contains a used rechargeable battery with limited lifespan. I learned a lesson when purchasing a refurbished Dyson. The battery had limited charge capacity and soon became unusable. When I went to purchase a new OEM Dyson battery I learned that the battery cost almost as much as the vacuum.
Bought one of these last-time. I have a pretty gnarly number of spiders in my basement that like to surprise me and this is an effective jail for them. No escapees so far.
bought this in green last time it was offered, also a “refurb.” has worked great, I use it in the kitchen mostly but also around the cat dishes for stray kibble. the collection container is small ish but big enough to contain what you would likely use a hand vac on
I bought this last time it was on. Lousy piece of equipment. Very loud, the dust cup held about 1 tablespoon of stuff, and the motor crapped out the 3rd time I used it. Definitely don’t recommend. I thought Shark was better than this.
@StGermain Same experience here. It’s actually the first product I’ve gotten from meh that was disappointing, funnily enough. Can’t recommend this purchase
I bought one of these specifically for the motley collection of air purifiers I have scattered around the house. The big Shark vacuum has too much suction and wants to inhale the filters whole. The mini-vac is in the Goldilocks zone - powerful enough to clean the different filters (screen, folded, charcoal) without damaging them. It also works well at cleaning the blades on ceiling fans. I do these in 5-minute sessions because that’s about all I get before the vac needs a recharge. The bin is large enough to hold what I can vacuum up in 5 minutes, so …
i bought 3 similar to these (they were in colors and did not say pet) last time. they are great for small jobs. you got a dusty desk, dirt from your plant, a few crumbs? walk five feet in same room and get the mini vacuum instead of upstairs for the more powerful upright. would not use for even medium jobs (car/stairs). the other ones had a small brush and a wide flat head attachment though.
@DrunkCat Oops, I put a deposit on a Cybertruck. Probably not going to go through with it though. Even an insane person has limits.
Waiting for a seat on a trip to Mars.
@DrunkCat@pmarin@russellmz No, someone said she came out in the morning and her truck (or maybe it was a Tesla car, I don’t remember) had been vandalized. And a dealership in the area had cybertrucks spray-painted with swasticas and stuff.
Just arrived and it does bro even hold a charge. Couldn’t find any info on the model so I had to google it. The meh.com Refurbished service website is useless. They don’t give you any model info and the barcode was rubbed off on the product when it arrived so I could barely even file a claim. Ridiculous.
I bought at the same time and it will not charge. I just contacted the company (Meh) to get a working replacement or refund. I bought it for a gift and the person returned it! Embarrassing!!!

Glitter
I was just thinking that a cordless vacuum would be great to vacuum my car today.
@alose If you’re anything like me, you’d probably be better off investing a little more & getting a shop vac. You’ll have to empty this thing so many times you’ll either give up or it’ll give out… or both.
@dvermilion this was the kind of feedback I needed. Thank you.

@dvermilion I live in a condo. It is a huge pain to run a long extension cord out to the parking lot.

But - when you are trying to cage a cat and it is running away can you use it to vacuum up the cat?
screw it I’m in

@mediocrebot The Bot keeps getting better (and creepier.)
Is today’s offering so meh that nobody has said how much it sucks…
I figured that would be the very FIRST comment!
@Lynnerizer Mack the Knife lyrics take priority over suck jokes.
@yakkoTDI
Ah ha!
Strangest spec I’ve seen for awhile:
That’s like (gets out calc app) 3.2 oz. - less than 1/2 cup of fuzz.
@stolicat by weight or volume?
@pakopako volume, of course - fuzz tends to go airborne so I’m not sure how one can properly weigh it.

Got one before, good for minor stuff in the kitchen, like crumbs in a toaster oven and such.
I got one a while back. The suction is somewhat impressive and the bin is small but has been perfectly adequate for typical hand vac uses so far.
The only thing I don’t like is that the attachments do not click in place or anything which is a pain when using the brush tool.
@ohhwell This is exactly my experience and feedback as well
This thing sucks nyuck nyuck nyuck

Meh, why are you very, very specifically attacking me with the product description today?
The meh link to Amazon takes me to the product for sale at $49.99.
I already had one, in for 2 more. My youngest is off to college, and my study needs something to pick up 3d printer niblets.
The dust catcher is a small space, OTOH that means less mess when I inevitably dump it trying to clean it out.

Almost forgot to shame the AI usage like someone dumb enough to buy a cybertruck.

@mediocrebot Oh, so many questions about that.
@DrunkCat @pmarin Cybertrucks are getting vandalized around here, according to Nextdoor!
@DrunkCat @Kyeh @pmarin the stainless steel scratches and stains easily, is it just them leaving out in the weather?
@DrunkCat @pmarin @russellmz No, someone said she came out in the morning and her truck (or maybe it was a Tesla car, I don’t remember) had been vandalized. And a dealership in the area had cybertrucks spray-painted with swasticas and stuff.
@Kyeh @pmarin Good. Nature is healing.
Bought the red one from last time Meh had them. AWESOME little vacuum. We use it in the kitchen mostly.
Just bought this one for the wet bar in the basement.
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
How quiet is it?
@terrry I got the QV410 they sold back in July; I assume they’re pretty similar. It’s about as loud as a hair dryer.
