I have a similar one (except corded) refurbished and it still works perfectly several years later. The catch with Shark is to repair them they need to be sent to Shark as Shark won’t sell replacement parts.
@Kidsandliz Was not aware of that. If the situation arises, they will get my right to repair ire. I have a refurbished stick, similar, but without the screen & a larger corded vac. Happy with both.
Does this have the same issue as the Shark UV580 that I bought on Sidedeal last month, in that IT CAN’T STAY STANDING UP BY ITSELF?!?? (How that could possibly pass all the product testing and still get mass produced is unfreakingbelievable)
Shark. It will work plenty long enough for the cost of a new battery (with installation by Shark) to be high enough that you’ll buy a new one instead. Lather, rinse, repeat. And it will still be a better deal than the $#!+ Tineco that I bought from Amazon.
This was on sale here not long ago before the one that was shown in comments. I bought it… I won’t tell you how many sharks I have. It was a little cheaper I think. It works fine. battery isn’t real long lived, but it is what it is. I have a corded shark that is great, but sometimes you just want to grab a cordless one. It was also refurbed but looked brand new. Just don’t short charge them when new. It trains the battery to hold less charge.
Update per my previous post. I did pay this price. I have to say, this vacuum goes under furniture etc. better than the bigger ones. That was an unexpected bonus. The dirt receptacle is small, but is easy to empty. As far as not standing up by itself, I honestly don’t see that as a deal breaker. Surely there is something to lean it up against if in process of using. When done, you move the container down to the bottom for storage. All I can say about Shark Vacuums is as much as my dogs shed, I can’t believe they are NOT BALD! Or maybe I need to use them more often. I am a tried and true card carrying Lover of the Sharks. They really Suck! LOL
@Mandamm Some of the Shark Navigator models had a fragile lock whose failure caused this, but others just habitually topple over, even more when leaned against a wall. It’s not common to the entire line, or even most of it, but there have been more than a couple.
I just got done using this - I got one in March and I’ve vacuumed more frequently since then than I had in several months before. It’s great for floors; I like the lightness and not having to drag a cord around. I’m less impressed with it for crevices and furniture, etc. so I’m going to keep my small canister vac for those. I’m ready to get rid of my big dinosaur Kenmore canister, though.
“Refurbished” just means “made pretty again”, it does not explicitly mean “we fixed anything that was wrong with it”. The extent to which such units are reliable is wildly variable. It’s crucial to thoroughly test any “refurb” item immediately upon receipt, as the window to return them is usually very short.
Received this item, and plugged it in for 3 hours. Per the instructions, I vacuumed until the battery ran out, then set it to charge. Instructions state: “During first use, run the battery down until it is completely out of power. This will condition the battery”. I vacuumed until it stopped sucking.
After I plugged it in again, two leds flashed simultaneously on the side. Per the instructions, this means “call contact a service center” (exact words in instructions). I will leave it plugged in overnight and see if anything changes. Otherwise, this appears to have been good for a single vacuuming off my dirty house. What are my options for returning?
There do not appear to be any replacement batteries on Amazon or anywhere I’ve looked. This battery is built-in, but I’m comfortable with unscrewing things to replace batteries. I don’t think I can even get a replacement to unscrew and plug in.
My recommendation: don’t buy, unless you have a gambling fetish

Didn’t we just have a vacuum for cordless sticks the other day?
@awk I don’t think so…not sure.
Ugh. I HATE stick vacuums, they have zero space.
@mikesmells Zero space for what?
@lisagd zero space for bofa.
@lisagd @mikesmells
Bags of Fermented Anuses?
@lisagd @yakkoTDI
Bofa Deez.
@mikesmells @yakkoTDI I’m still confused.
@lisagd Best ignored. There is nothing worthwhile to illuminate.

@mediocrebot can you explain where that tube is going and what its function is?
@awk @mediocrebot The function is suction.
@awk @mediocrebot suction suction what’s your function
@awk Well that was expected…
@awk @mcanavino @mediocrebot Pickin’ up dirt and raisins and dog hair.

@haydesigner for this one you have to detach the vacuum and then put it on the hook lower down
Is that a shark in your pocket

@Mandamm good tip about charging.

@mediocrebot Looks like Keanu is fending off some evil sofas with that vacuum.
@heartny @mediocrebot I wish it had taken “shark” more literally.

Speaker docks, knives, and whole numbers might be things of the past, but at least we’ll always have vacuums…
@kakapo That sucks.

Nope, not being sucked in again. Just sent back last refurbished purchased that didn’t work.
@KSHC the vacuum failed to suck you in? Did Microsoft design it? (Old joke)

@mediocrebot @kyeh This any better?
@mediocrebot @pakopako
At least there’s a shark! Keanu looks pretty weird but the shark looks good.

I’m not sure where to begin, but this picture is definitely a crime.
