@werehatrack
Better copyright & trademark that 2nd line before they start using it.
(Of course, patents, copyrights, trademarks, ethics, common sense, trade reviews, public opinion, etc., haven’t always deterred M$ that much.)
@phendrick 218 sold so far (at the moment) with 64 to go before it tests true, and would it not be some kind of lovely coincidence if that’s where they sold out?
@werehatrack 6 hours later now, and at 232, so I doubt they will make it to that.
And, if it sold out at that, it’s because that’s how many they bought (or contracted for), so maybe deliberate.
@pmarin 300 Wattage means you’re 300x less likely to try to roll over something, pick it up, look at it as you say. “What’s this?” before dropping it back on the ground.
Not so impressed with the recent Amazon reviews nor the q&a section where it seems many complain about clogs and lack of suction. Also the brush isn’t removable so makes for getting hair that’s wrapped around it hard to remove. I have a corded shark vac I bought from meh many years ago and still love it. Removable roller brush and seems to do the job well. Wish it was cordless but not willing to give up the suction power.
@jayman007 Yes the one I got refurbished from here is great. And still working. Good thing too since when it finally breaks you have to mail it back to shark to get it fixed as they won’t sell the parts to vac fix stores.
@jayman007 Yes it does stand up on its own. I own one. You just gotta fold it in half as shown in the pic. But yes it’s annoying to do that just to put it away, I guess??
non-removable brush is fine for me to clean out hair, because of the groove I can run a utility knife or scissors along it (in sections due to the bars around it)
battery been working for over 3 years now but I did but a knock-off battery on Amazon so I can swap it out
I have the previous model. It doesn’t have the bendable part but the worst thing about these is that they don’t stand up on their own. You have to lean it against the wall if you want to pause for a second and even then it always falls down and scratches my walls. Having to disassemble the vacuum to make it stand is terrible design.
Fixing Sharks SUCKS on the latest made models. They went from regular screws to TORX security screws with punched center holes. Obscure and a little hard to get, but the depth of the shaft hole is long so you can’t just put a bit into an average changeable screwdriver.
Pls check that any Shark model you’re looking at has regular screws, or you will have major headaches trying to fix it (instead of a 2 buck fix for a switch like in my Rotator).
@midnightplatinu Yeah you want your vacuum to suck, but still be maintainable. The security bit sets are now easy to get (used to be difficult 20 years ago), but those need bit holders or extensions, it sounds like, which may not be usable for this. Very hard to find long shaft security-torx drivers.
@midnightplatinu@pmarin
If these kind of screws signal a trend, then these might be a good investment: https://www.amazon.com/GreaTalent-Security-T6H-T40H-Magnetic-Phosphate/dp/B098X99BLY
Mostly good reviews from those who actually used them (instead of posting a review when they arrived “Oh, these look good”, which amz seems to encourage).
The item description says they are “temper” proof, so can even withstand any cursing fits you might throw.
To date I’ve only needed short torx bits, so haven’t ordered anything like these, but …
@midnightplatinu@phendrick@pmarin Seems like shark wants to make it as hard as possible for people to fix these vacs without having to send them back (my local vac fix store says shark won’t sell them parts).
Heads up, their warranty doesn’t specifically state it, but it doesn’t cover the whole unit. I have one of their regular corded floor vacuums, and the plastic surround around the switch broke, the vacuum floor head wouldn’t stay locked up and became floppy, and the hose cracked where it bends at the bottom before it went to the vacuum head. It was still under warranty but I called and they told me that only the main body with the motor is covered and offered to sell me the replacement parts at a discount. Their warranty is BS.
@werekong
Main disadvantage: you have to actually do the work of moving it around and choosing where it is applied.
Main advantage: you actually make sure that what you wanted cleaned up is where the vacuum goes to work. Yes, assuming nothing goes wrong, a robot vacuum will eventually clean up something on the floor, assuming that the stuff to be removed is something that it can handle. If it isn’t, you get to clean it up anyway.
This is why I don’t have a robot vacuum cleaner. Well one of the reasons. Eight cats are a good reason. Floors that aren’t exactly all at the same precise level are another reason. Lots and lots and lots of scattered obstacles, including things that the edge of a robot vacuum, or the center for that matter, can get wedged under is yet another. Cats that will knock things on the floor that I should rather not have the robot vacuum pick up and throw away is an occasionally critical one. Having rooms that are almost as much edge as they are center due to the amount of clutter and stuff, and with lots of narrower-than-robot-vacuum-cleaner gaps between stacks of stuff, is a persuasive reason.

This sucks.
@ircon96 Ironically, it is not made by Microsoft.
To be fair, not everything that sucks is made by Microsoft.
@werehatrack

@ircon96 Thats what most vacuums do!!
With all those words and numbers in the name, it must really be good. Or at least expensive.
@awk Naw. Long names and model numbers just impress the Meh buyers and gives us something to talk about.
@awk, Pi has as many, but is it good? No, but does it suck¿? Si!!
Perfect gift for mother nature, and your wife too.
@hchavers, most of Mother Nature is outside of the house & what wife? I have narin!!
@hchavers AKA, “your soon-to-be widow”?
IF282, then there are none left.
(ION top o’ me game 2nite?)

@phendrick Or possibly there are a pair of the original quartet who are well-fed.
@phendrick, there are still 2, butt are just in the intestinal track & you can guess where they’re headed! Yes,…!!

Broken Amazon link.
I think this one is the same

OK I understand the cordless and 2x battery pack stuff, but what’s all this then?
@pmarin 300 Wattage means you’re 300x less likely to try to roll over something, pick it up, look at it as you say. “What’s this?” before dropping it back on the ground.
@pmarin I’m disappointed by the failure of both this post and @mcanavino 's response to make a “Watt’s this” pun.
@AbdiViklas @mcanavino …Amp so Watt are you doing about it?
@AbdiViklas @mcanavino
It has batteries
Also a thirty foot cord
So how do it work?
@AbdiViklas @mcanavino @pmarin
By the power of
GreyskullSuction! So, yes, it sucks. You hope.@AbdiViklas @mcanavino @pmarin, Wa-Wa-Wa-Watt¿?

@jayman007
So it probably will not damage the foreskin is what they are saying. In for one!!
@jayman007 @yakkoTDI, That only applies if ya aren’t circumcised!!

@beanamaniac Agreed. Second worst thing is that you carry all of the weight in your hand.
@beanamaniac I have a different model Shark vac with the same problem. Absolutely an absurd design flaw if you ask me.
Do not need floppy vac.
@werehatrack some might even call it flaccid.
@werehatrack Don’t need floppies anymore, we have (USB?) stick vacs.

Will it suck up a margarita?
@werehatrack Or a martini?
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI Just the olive, if it looks like a bowling ball.
@phendrick @werehatrack @yakkoTDI Well if you disconnected the cord and put one end in your mouth and sucked hard it might.
There are many robotic vacuums in this price range and some even less. What are the advantages (and disadvantages) of this vacuum over that type?

@werehatrack thanks!
@werehatrack @werekong and now add to this that irobot vac company (roomba) was bought by Amazon and sends your room information back to them.
