@tinamarie1974 Same here, supported by my research elsewhere that shows Bad Santa as a “black comedy”, which in my personal experience predicts that it will primarily appeal to assholes.
@werehatrack Absolutely correct. @tinamarie You haven’t missed anything.[IMHO].
I loved Home Alone once, and hated Bad Santa throughout.
Violent Night and The Fatman were way better ‘bad Santa’ movies in my opinion, and both were a ton funnier too.
I haven’t seen Bad Santa but it looks funny. I do like Home Alone though, so it gets the vote. (Unrelatedly, at least in my opinion, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is one of the few sequels that manages to not be crap.)
@PooltoyWolf
I totally agree about home alone 2, it was a really good sequel. Have you seen Better Watch Out? Came out years ago but definitely reminds me of home alone.
I’m a huge Bernie Mac fan, love his comedy, tv show and can’t think of a movie he was in that wasn’t funny but home alone gets my vote. I still watch both when there on tv and laugh my ass off.
Bad Santa, hands down. I’ve never seen any of the Home Alone movies, although i think I’ve seen enough clips to make an informed judgement. I can definitely say that subversive, irreverent comedies are much more in my wheelhouse than slapstick kid’s movies, and Bad Santa is hilarious while managing to be heartwarming, without being maudlin–a tricky tightrope that it walks expertly.
Never saw Bad Santa so I’m going w Home Alone
Merry Christmas

Never saw Bad Santa and Home Alone is poop. I will just go back and watch one of the other Christmas movies.
@yakkoTDI same. Always thought Home Alone was overrated never seen bad Santa.

@Star2236 Great read, thanks for the link!
Fun movie (unless it gives your kids ideas).
Home Alone over Bad Santa but both fade into insignificance compared to “A Christmas Story”
Home Alone
I laughed more during Bad Santa, so it gets my vote.
