@mikesmells This mirrors my evaluation as well. The reality of the device’s actual operation fell far short of the hype. Virtually every other fur removal product I’ve tried worked better.
@mikesmells@werehatrack on shirts they are meh but on bed sheets and couches they’re very good. Which hair removal tool works on what and how is used varies though.
This type of tool takes aggressive short fast strokes. Something like 6 inches. I didn’t pick anything up till I got the pattern
If you just push it, instead of the back and forth motion you won’t get anything
I see the other comments but as someone who doesn’t want to create a ton of fly paper waste or fuss with that gel roller that always dries out after a few weeks, this does work but yeah, it won’t pick up dirt like the others do. It really will just pick up animal hair.
I have the Black + Decker version (Walmart, $9.99), and it gets the cat hair out of my rugs and couches better than my spendy Dyson, all those tape rollers, or anything else I’ve tried, really. If I didn’t already have one, I’d get this for sure.
Got this from a mehrathon…and it’s very meh. Good if you have some light animal hair on the couch, but if there more, take some packing tape, and make an inside out circle of tape and that picks up hair a lot better.
It works extremely well on the right kind of surface - one that’s smooth and taut, like couch upholstery or my bedspread when smoothed out. It’s not for anything with a real nap or heavy uneven texture or too yielding.
I like these. With 3 super long haired cats, I find that it does a great job on my sofas and chairs. Quick and easy to roll the fur off…a bit less easy to get it out of the inside part.
But I think I love it the most for my sheets. Our cats are always up on our bed, and when I wash my sheets, I have tons of little fur-balls all over them when they come out of the dryer. (Maybe it’s because they’re 100% cotton? I don’t know…but it’s so much hair it’s almost comical) But anyway…we pull this out when we put the sheets back on the bed and it works very well! Because of its width, it covers more ground quicker, and with having to do 3 sides (both sides of the top sheet and the top of the fitted sheet), quicker is better, lol!
I haven’t tried it on much else, so it may not work that great on certain types of fabric or whatever. But for me, it’s worked better than any of my former methods.
Oh…and I’ve used it successfully on my clothes too…but it’s not my go to lint remover for clothing.
@Kyeh I’ve seen this book in my Siberian cat group.
And at the risk of sounding like a completely crazy cat lady, I won’t tell you that I do have hair set aside to do this one day…at least for my silver kitty.
She sheds the most, so her hair is abundant. I already do some wool needle felting, so using her hair would be a cinch to substitute.
I’d like to do something similar to these pics if I can figure it out. I’m just not sure whether people would think it’s too creepy.
@k4evryng I’ve heard of people spinning dog hair into yarn and knitting and weaving it, so it’s not any weirder than that, I think!
(The cat on the left looks too real to believe!)
Easily the best pet hair remover I’ve ever owned. I see a lot of people who aren’t thrilled with it, but it is taking cat hair off of everything and I am so happy. This is my second one, I got the last one maybe 3 to 6 months ago. I got this one because I’m so afraid to lose the first one or break it because of how good it works.
Wow just got mine last night - usually use about a dozen lint roller sheets to keep my couch cat hair free for an evening but this thing does just as good a job. Hoping it’s long lasting

Does this work on backs?
@yakkoTDI it won’t. It only works on clothing/furniture and it’s… not great. Not terrible, but not great.
Bought one of these, they are truly mediocre. It functions, not well.

@mikesmells Appreciate it! I have too many cats to waste my money and my time on mediocre crap.
@mikesmells @werehatrack I am surprised by this as we have a couple and they work amazingly well for us. We have long hair dogs and they shed a ton.

It might be that these “copies” don’t do a good job. We have the “Chom Chom” from Amazon and that thing gathers hair like magic.
@kjady “…waste my money and my time on mediocre crap”
I am thinking you might be confused about the very essence of this site.
@Jonas4321 I’ve had pretty good luck. 95% percent of the stuff I’ve bought has been great. Just a few lemons and some horrific drink mixes.
The hairless cat was perfect for this Meh campaign.

@atascabeno I agree that the B&D version is better than any vacuum for picking up cat hair on my carpeted stairs.
No need for this gadget. That’s why a Poodle, Bichon Frise, Maltese, of a mixture of these, is our family’s dog of choice.

That, exactly!

@k4evryng Maybe you need this book!
@k4evryng @Kyeh Japanese culture is so fascinating!

/showme a petting zoo full of bald animals
@mediocrebot adult lions are my favourite petting zoo animal
@mediocrebot @OnionSoup And that “keep yer distance or I’ll shred yer” parrot on top of the corner of the pavilion is extra cuddly, too.
@mediocrebot @OnionSoup @werehatrack
What about this creature?
@Kyeh @mediocrebot @werehatrack that’s definitely a space alien.
@Kyeh @mediocrebot @OnionSoup @werehatrack Oh. Oh my.
@Kyeh @OnionSoup @werehatrack
I believe that’s called Chernobyl Setter.
