Right Coast Traitor?
5I am almost never awake at midnight and usually at work at 8 and 4, plus I’m a tightwad anyway. So I’d like to see myself as pretty unbiased (YOMV), but I would think that the midnight crew (largely(?) left coast) would have the highest volume available. But for example today <700 gloves sold in just over 1 hr at midnight before pause, then >1100 more in over 3 hours before another pause, and still some left for the VMPs. I would have thought the midnight and 8 AM volumes would be reversed. Or is there something I’m missing in the strategy, or this was an outlier?
I’m a statistician/operations analyst so I’m actually really curious about Meh strategy (always good for diverse view on tackling an ops problem). But figured community input might help Meh strategy AND be good for laughs.

Look at the weather report.
I thought it was partly based on order pace, not just quantities remaining. I could be wrong.
I think they’re constantly playing with quantities in order to find the sweet spot for night vs morning product distribution. I think meh is trying to push toward daytime crowd (more people) but keep the midnight crowd happy.
I’ve noticed the morning quantity being higher than the night several times. It’s almost safer in that if it pauses at night, someone who wants it can come back in the morning.
Also, I believe it is purely based on quantity (without regard for options) and not rate of sale. I don’t have any hard facts to back up these beliefs.
Weekend. Plus weather. Plus Meh Goblins. Screws things up. Plus on Sun 8AM plenty of east coast types still think it’s Sat nite till noon at least.
@f00l
Way to stereotype…
@PlacidPenguin
I used “plenty of” as in “not all” and as in “some noticeable number of”, which implies no more than a notable minority.
When I spent years living in Manhattan and going as frequently as possibly to various places Bost-Wash, I was among these nocturnal-to-dayturnal actives. Sat nite ended sometime between 7am and 11pm on what is ordinarily called “Sunday”, unless Sat nite ended Mon morning, which can cause Monday daytime dizziness.
I was speaking of my peergroup habits from those days. I will stereotype my own past as personal impulses propel.
I will refrain from stereotyping your unknowable “past”, as my attempt would yield nothing but fantasy and projection on my end. And I’m not sure you have a “past” in the ordinary meaning.

@f00l
But if you don’t stereotype, then
I won’t have anything to criticizeI’ll have less to criticize.@PlacidPenguin
Make something up. I’ll prob cop to it.
And you have plenty of genuine material, dealing with a @f00l and all.
The snow appeared full of little footprints. Was it? What kind?
@f00l
Not in this picture. It just didn’t cover the lawn fully.
Although in the winter, I’ll share pictures of snow with footprints…
@f00l
/giphy I keep refreshing but all the applause gifs are sarcastic
@f00l Nope, every time I see a sellout I check, and they have been holding around two thirds back for the 8 am sale.
They hate the late night people, their most loyal customers.
@Barney I mean, to be fair I hate me too so…
@Barney
Pfft. Those two statements aren’t necessarily connected to each other. I don’t really sleep at night, yet I’ve only bought 4 things.
@PlacidPenguin Then they are probably thrilled that you have only purchased 4 things, because they are trying to take that opportunity away from those of us who stay up late.
@Barney
Not sure if we’re agreeing/taking same viewpoint.
Seems as though you’re looking for rational, predictable behavior. Quoting Sir Guiness, “These are not the droids you’re looking for.”
