cool somebody found a use for those damn woot lights. I know I have four or five of them in a junk drawer somewhere. I remember the motor in them being to loud.
I was going to comment and tell em to check out meh... but then I realized I would have to log in and subscribe to the sub aaaand ain't nobody got time for that.. So I browsed dank memes instead.
@RedOak The nyt article from last year was true. Sure those were extreme cases, and only the negative stories, but the issue is Amazon has a culture where those situations can happen. My main reasons for leaving (retail side) were micromanagement, conflicting goals on my team which caused hostility, and consistently having to work 12 hour days and still feeling like I wasn't doing enough. Best thing about the experience was getting the company on the resume, I was very hireable. On a side note, the people I met on the woot team seemed cool.
@highwyre237 as with anything in the media, there is usually a bit of exaggeration to entice eyeballs and generate some spin.
But those things - micromanagement, conflicting goals and long hours without recognition for it would burn any sane person out.
Unfortunately those conditions are too common. I've spent enough time in the corporate world to witness one common theme: cycles. Centralize/decentralize, etc... And every new CEO has to change something to prove their worth.
Hopefully the current culture of a complete lack of loyalty both directions in companies will eventually demonstrate it is the stupid way to manage. One can hope.
@highwyre237 I have a young relative employed in a local amazon warehouse. He puts in endless hours. He barely has spare time for food and sleep. If his gf didnt work same warehouse, same shift, he'd never see her. Every time I see him, he's exhausted.
This thread got me to check Woot. Went looking for a Nexus 5 refurb I heard was on sale. I couldn't find it, but I did see that the jug-o-olives is back on wine.woot. It was a hit when I bought it years ago, so I pulled the trigger on 2 more.
@shawn It appears the forum just shows the comment. There isn't a link to the actual comment itself on reddit (to look at the context).
@Kevin Fuck you Kevin.

@Kevin Sorry, that was supposed to be fuck off. Fuck you is just rude.
@sammydog01 DON'T BE RUDE!

@dino2269 Yea that was always annoying - "werrrzzssshhhhhhhhszzzz..." works best if they aren't near you and there is music playing.

I'm here because of that thread. Used to shop on woot, used to work for Amazon. Happy this place is around, time to wait for non-shitty products
@highwyre237

@highwyre237 don't complain about slow shipping, unless you are being ironic.
@highwyre237 some days it seems like quite a wait.
@highwyre237 Welcome to the crazies!
@highwyre237
@highwyre237
Just fair warning....you may also have to wait a while for non-shiity products.
Not to worry, it's all good.
@highwyre237
Please tell us some fun Amazon stories. Please?
