1.) Star Wars (Ep 4 - A New Hope. Not strictly Christmas-y but a holiday tradition while we cook nonetheless.)
2.) Home Alone 2
3.) Krampus
4.) Die Hard (Christmas setting)
5.) Batman Returns
@sammydog01 yes! I even got to see Rare Exports in theatres a few years ago for a horror themed event. One of my FAVORITES. Definitely one to show people just for their faces during that…corral scene
The top 2 are pretty set in stone, the others can change depending on my mood. Elf could easily fit in there, along with a bunch of others. I love Die Hard, but i don’t think of it as a Christmas movie, even though it takes place during that time of year, i guess because it doesn’t necessarily revolve around the holiday. I’ll be joining WITSEC now, it’s been real!
**Years ago, I read an article wherein the author floated the theory that, in Home Alone, Kevin is dead. I know, I know, it’s super dark, and sounds absurd but, it actually made a lot of sense. If memory serves, it was from The Daily Beast. After reading this piece, I gained a whole new appreciation for Home Alone, dead protagonist or no.
1.Elf

@halfling I can’t wait to see it! It’s supposed to stream on Peacock soon…
@halfling I’ve been twice so far. I might make it three.

I think that was the rejected script from M. Night Shyamalan.
1 Christmas Story
Checks notes, yup that’s it!!
@fjp999 Was that the working title of Bertolucci’s The Sheltering Sky?
@macromeh Ya got me. What was the working title of Bertolucci’s The Sheltering Sky?
@fjp999
scoog:
something that provides cover or protection, as from weather or danger; place of refuge.
@fjp999
@macromeh - do you play a lot of Scrabble?
@Kyeh Occasionally with my wife, but she usually wins.
(But this one was complements of a google search.)
@macromeh Yeah? I’m a word nerd but I’d never heard of that!
