This is a pretty good deal if you’re into the Dyson stuff. I have the eight year old version of this and it worked great for four or five years then started to make noises by getting louder and louder finally just moved it to the gym so now I got a $500 Fan in my gym lol
How is this going to cool you when the air it’s blowing is well above wet bulb limits? It’s just more warm, saturated air that won’t evaporate your sweat.
@brainmist Neither Meh Holdings Incorporated nor the Dyson Family of Products recommend inserting your wet bulb into this fan. While bladeless, it is still an electronic device.
@brainmist Are you arguing, then, that fans are ineffective? Oddly enough, they do seem to evaporate my sweat, or why else do I sleep comfortably on hot nights?
You can actually turn a box fan into an air purifier for cheap.
The world health organisation has instructions on how to do it too.
There’s lots of designs but basically fan+filter=air purifier.
You can buy cheap filters in bulk too.
@Pufferfishy I remember the Monster Cable era. I once had a Monster Cable brand power strip (must have bought on clearance. (definitely would not pay close to MSRP). Then I got another similar one from a different brand (Belkin I think) also on a sale, and realized they were basically identical. The Monster one did have a bigger fancy looking power cord and plug, and it had pretty colors over each outlet saying what they were for (all connected to same power bus internally).
EDIT forgot my main point. The Dyson stuff is unique and used design ideas never done before that were innovative and broadened the idea of what was possible. (Think Apple). So Dyson are not just a clone of something made in a Chinese factory, they are the first of their kind each case. Doubtless, there will be Chinese factories making clones of Dyson, but not the other way around.
@qazxto but at least it is cheaper than Costco with extra filters by $100. 3rd picture of guy in his empty house, probably spent all his furniture money on the fans.
@MEH is this the Costco version? When I search the model number only they carry it. A review on their site suggests that this model was assembled during chip shortages and doesn’t actually work on wifi/app control despite purporting to…Is that the case?
This might help to keep your dog from getting overheated.
However, if your dog does become overheated, quickly go to the fridge and get mustard. Mustard goes great on a hot dog.
@blabounty I disagree that price is grossly disproportional to its fair market value.
I would nitpick that the price is grossly outside of what most of us here can afford. (Which is why we’re here and not say on wherever the thing that replaced Sharper Image; Homary or Touch of Modern.)
I was considering this, but after discovering the actual model number from Costco (TP07) The reviews for this model are awful. It apparently isn’t great as an actual fan, and if you crank it up high enough to be one it’s incredibly loud.
I also literally just bought a Levoit a couple weeks ago and I love it. It also works seamlessly with Alexa and it was on sale for like $80.
@markanoe Possibly because the FedEx Ground packages are often getting delivered by underpaid and malsupervised employees of “independent” contractors instead of FedEx itself, and they really don’t give a rat’s ass about quality of service as a result? (The fact that somebody is wearing a FedEx uniform shirt does not guarantee that they really work for FedEx itself.)
I got one of these and it connected to the app, blew air, and was pretty cool in all the things it told me about air quality. I even scheduled it to turn on and off at certain times of the day.
But within a day it was making a random grating/grinding noise. Contacted Dyson and it’s out for repair. Part of me hopes they just replace it.

/showme how Dyson fans work
@mediocrebot clearly thinks it’s just magic…might not be wrong.
@mediocrebot what in the AI-generated nonsense is that?!
@mediocrebot @Smersh I don’t know, but IU’m buying three.
'Cuz Dysan.
/showme a Dyson fan made out of legos
/showme instructions on how to make a Dyson fan out of legos
Convinced. I am buying the Xbox.
@Zott can you play grand theft auto on the Dyson air filter?
@OnionSoup @Zott you could probably play Doom by ear.
@OnionSoup @Zott no but it plays Cyrsis
@pakopako @Zott can play Doom on a Legobrick so wouldn’t surprise me.

@bugger And apparently you have a gym.
@steelopus I meant Jim’s
How is this going to cool you when the air it’s blowing is well above wet bulb limits? It’s just more warm, saturated air that won’t evaporate your sweat.
Is there any air cooling element here?
@brainmist No, it’s a fan.
@Aspirant_Fool
But it’s a DYSON!!!
JAZZ HANDS
@brainmist Neither Meh Holdings Incorporated nor the Dyson Family of Products recommend inserting your wet bulb into this fan. While bladeless, it is still an electronic device.
/showme jazz hands
Nope, not creepy at all….
@brainmist I think about wet bulb limits all the time now. I hate it. Love to live in 2024
@brainmist Are you arguing, then, that fans are ineffective? Oddly enough, they do seem to evaporate my sweat, or why else do I sleep comfortably on hot nights?
@brainmist @rpstrong how are you doing that? I’m at the point I’m refrigerating the towels I sleep over.
@brainmist @pakopako I’m sure our circumstances are different - it’s all a matter of degree.
@rpstrong I’m going to guess your humidity is lower than the 92% I had last night.
this has more games than the xbox
Hmmm, how many IRKs are included?
Dy$$$$on.
So… these $200 Dyson coupons.
How exactly do I go about using those here?
@bakerzdosen Not recommended. They’re scratchy.
Come on, Meh - it’s $300.
@Kyeh yeah, you could buy 400 ramen with that!
Someone’s full of hot air.
@hchavers well, there is a model with heat, but this ain’t it. It actually is pretty good.
You can actually turn a box fan into an air purifier for cheap.

I would consider this fan for $99 (or an Alibaba clone for $49)
@zippyus 2 for $399?
@zippyus How about one for $600. Act now and you get one free!
@DEVILS $99 for 1, $69 for 2, because if anyone is selling these so cheap I’m doing them a favor by letting them empty their warehouse IRK-style /s
I am not a fan.
Ah - Dyson: the Monster Cable of fans.
@Pufferfishy I remember the Monster Cable era. I once had a Monster Cable brand power strip (must have bought on clearance. (definitely would not pay close to MSRP). Mr. Dyson does a fan dance, as you stuff $100 bills into his garter. I don’t need AI to conjure up that nauseating image…
@MrNews You’re drawing from personal experience, then?
@MrNews @Trinityscrew You’d be amazed at what lurks in the dark corners of the Web. Or maybe you wouldn’t, and that’s totally okay. (Care to share?)
Usually I grump here just for fun but I legitimately hate this.
@qazxto but at least it is cheaper than Costco with extra filters by $100. 3rd picture of guy in his empty house, probably spent all his furniture money on the fans.
At $200 off MSRP it must be selling out soon…
@pixelated It’s an older model that was made specifically for Costco
This is the snark I come here for. That, and the occasional thing-I-really-don’t-need.
/showme a Vacuum cleaner billionaire jumping into a building full of gold coins
Maybe for $50…
@MEH is this the Costco version? When I search the model number only they carry it. A review on their site suggests that this model was assembled during chip shortages and doesn’t actually work on wifi/app control despite purporting to…Is that the case?

@Trinityscrew Unless you prefer sauerkraut, onions, and ketchup.
@Trinityscrew @werehatrack
I can’t imagine a fan working so well that it would justify $300, much less the supposed MSRP of $500.
I love how it’s almost half off from retail and it’s still grossly overpriced.
@blabounty I disagree that price is grossly disproportional to its fair market value.

Someone bought 5 of these so maybe they can send me one.
Why does FedEx choose to leave packages in the driveway in the rain rather than open covered porch?
@markanoe Possibly because the FedEx Ground packages are often getting delivered by underpaid and malsupervised employees of “independent” contractors instead of FedEx itself, and they really don’t give a rat’s ass about quality of service as a result? Got the “WHITE, OLD” version of this fan when I paid for the “NEW” version that’s advertised here…not happy
@user04305413 This needs to be addressed at meh.com/support
