PvsZ: Garden Warfare
9This thread will be useless to 99.9% of you. But, @ruouttaurmind and I needed a place to continue are conversations without cluttering up other threads
I was a never a gamer, but unfortunately due to a new xbox for the kids I am seriously addicted to this game. Like “crack” addicted. This is definitely not the phone version of the game you remember.
If by some chance any other mehmbers are also into to this game, please come forward. Especially, if you play multiplayer online.

Love that intro. I’m a big fan of the PC version of PvZ1. The tablet version is missing the whole survival challenges, which is all I ever play, so I don’t bother with it on the tablet. Never liked PvZ2, don’t care for pay-to-win games. This looks like loads of fun, but my only game station is an old Wii (still love the basic golf and bowling disc). If you upload any recorded play sessions give us a link.
@mfladd, eBay is having a 20% off sitewide sale today. There are several XBox Gold live 12mos cards available for around $45-$50, less 20% and no tax for most sellers = about $40 for a year.
I also am considering a Xbox One S wireless controller because my current (original generation) Xbox wireless controller doesn’t have the 3.5mm audio jack for headset. It requires the adapter device which has been discontinued by Microsoft, and is now selling at a premium on eBay, etc. I could pay $40 for the adapter, or just buy a new controller for $40 (less 20% today = $32).
@ruouttaurmind Buy the new controller. I found a good deal on a Winter Forces controller. The deals are out there for them - you just have to find them.
Thanks for xbox live gold info!
@mfladd I passed on the controller, instead bought mom a new iPad. Didn’t want to spend another $30 so I cheaped out and just got a 3mos XBLG card for $10.50. Of course NOW I realize I should have ordered a case and screen protector for the iPad at the same time I placed the first order. Coupon is burned now.
@ruouttaurmind I picked up a 12 month card for around $40. Thanks!
This game is great. I used to play it a LOT, however fell out of playing video games about a year ago.
@hems79 Come Back! I need playmates!
I would, but I’m too busy playing Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time. I’ve been playing that every day for at least 5 years. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any P vs. Z game.
I loved PvZ on PC. Then fell in love on Ps4. Tried playing Garden Warfare the same, but you really can’t get anywhere without team play. I’m so used to playing alone that I keep getting in my own way when I join a team.
Even the tablet versions are fun for me. I hadn’t realized that the challenges were missing.
First time I played, hubs bought it for me on a whim and we installed it. That was about 1130 at night. Next time I looked at the time it was 430a! Been addicted since
I am getting my backside handed to me in the final Agent of LEAF challenge. There’s a giant pirate zomboss that just won’t expire.
All the missions up ‘til now have been a walk in the park. Zero deaths the whole way through. But I’ve tried this mission 6 times and can’t figure out how to vanquish this boss.
I’ve been playing as Ice Pea, and every time I throw a chili bomb at him, he turns and walks away, avoiding the blast radius. I’ve fired the gatling pea shooter until it’s empty maybe 5 times per match, and he’s still at 50% health. Imma try a different character next, but surely there’s some kind of strategy I’m missing to defeat him.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@ruouttaurmind I have not completed this questi so I am of no help. But it appears @moondrake found you something. I am at a conference in VA Beach so I am unable to play for two days…I am already going into peashooter withdrawal! I need a fix bad…
Edit: I didn’t watch this, but let me know if it helps.
@mfladd @moondrake OMG, I’ve been going at it all wrong. I was fighting Cappy Smasher when I should have been stalking those little barrel wearing curse totin’ dudes and letting my minions deal with Smasher until I swooped in at the last minute to save the day.
Thanks for digging this up @moondrake. I’m anxious to go try it out!
@mfladd @ruouttaurmind Yeah, when I read this I suspected that was the tactical problem you were having.
@moondrake Vanquished! 20 minutes allowed for this quest. Craptain Smasher was squashed with 13 minuets to spare. Thanks a ton for the links!
As a rule I try to avoid walkthroughs. It’s a slippery slope, and can be easy to give up on a challenge and just go to the walkthrough for the easy answer. Sometimes though, I get stalled, repeating the same thing over and over, and it’ll steal the joy from the gaming experience getting stalled like that.
@moondrake @ruouttaurmind Congrats!!! When does online play begin?
@ruouttaurmind Yes, I try my own path till the frustration outweighs the thrill of tough challenge, then I Google for what I’m doing wrong.

@ruouttaurmind How many gold coins do you have?
I have been playing characters I am not very good at trying to improve. Tonight was binging on the foot soldier (I am definitely not good with him). I want to be good with him because I have a Legendary Banana Bunker hat for him. Every time I kill someone a monkey shoots bananas out of it
Corn Cob I am improving with, more so than foot soldier. I am trying to stay away from my go to’s, but every once in awhile I have to cause destruction with my imp.
@mfladd I guess I have no idea. Do I have any? How do I check?
@ruouttaurmind Go to the Quest Board and open it. At the top it will tell you the number of Rainbow stars, Gold stars, and coins you have.
@mfladd The quest board doesn’t have any info on stars or coins. After a while of searching around I stumbled across this information at the top of the screen in the sticker shop. But there’s nowhere I can see my consumables that I’ve been able to find.
I have a grand total of zero stars and 240,377 silver coins. I can’t find any information on the gold coins you mentioned?
@mfladd I finally got around to trying the portal in Town Hall. Turns out you need Live Gold to participate in this event. Unfortunately the card I bought on eBay isn’t here yet, so no joy for this one.
@mfladd Update: I decided to give the $1 month a try for Live Gold and Game Pass. I’m now an online noob.
@ruouttaurmind Yay!!!
My bad - I meant gold stars - not coins. You have to look for the quests on the board that award you stars. I did enough of this town hall events that I could open up all the rainbow star chests in the town hall, but now I am back to Vanquish from the home portal. This event was just to damn crazy! You want to do it enought to be able to open the 50 rainbow star chest - that is really the only good one.
Try Vanquish.
@mfladd I played maybe 4 or 5 matches in the special event portal and collected 53 stars. Foolishly, I traded them in for the big chest and got diddly. A zombie beard item, some cheesy plant appearance item, and some kind of legendary quest key. I was really hoping it contained weapons or skillz upgrades, and maybe a complete character. I should have traded them that damn seagull for gold stars!
I’ll probably play another match or two tonight before the portal closes and maybe get enough stars to trade the seagull. Then at least I’ll have gold stars I can use to open chests and such. But dang those matches drag on! When I was heavily into COD, it was rare for a match to run longer than about 5 min.
@ruouttaurmind Dear Noob,
You didn’t get “diddly”. You collected the first of 4 Legendary keys you need to participate in the Trials of Gnomus - The trials you need to complete to get your hands on Torchwood and HoverGoaT 3000! Each 50 star chest (1 per event) you open from now on will give you another key. Don’t worry about 10 and 30 chests if you don’t want to - you really will get diddly. The seagull is a mistake - I did it and was not happy - the trade in rate for rainbow to gold stars is high. Around 10 rainbow stars for one gold star. There are easy quests from the quest boards if you look for them that will give you gold stars. You need 25 (I think) gold stars to buy the key that sits NEXT to the seagull. That key will unlock a a door in the sewers that will allow you to use your “diddly” key to start the Trials.
Remember my advice to you at the beginning - ask me! Welcome to online play!
Save anymore rainbow stars you get (up to 50 max) to open another key chest when the next event starts.
@mfladd When playing a normal multiplayer match, what do you earn? Coins and xp only?
@ruouttaurmind You earn coins. Coins vary per the game you are playing. e.g. Turf Takeover pays more than Team Vanquish - longer game. When you level up a certain character (which is done fastest online) you get $20,000 coins. Experience is the big thing. Online players make the computer generated foe look easy.
added: also as you level up players you get more abilites: longer life, faster speed, faster reload, inc. zoom, higher jumps, etc. You own those abilities that you can use in the game itself. Online you are playing against players with those abilities. Except for Classic mode where everyone has the original characters as is.
@mfladd I got seriously pummeled in the matches I played yesterday. I only managed one notable player slot in a total of maybe 9 games. I’m used to consistently finishing in the top 3 in COD, so this was a humbling experience.
@ruouttaurmind LOL…so did I when I started. There is a learning curve, trust me. When you say notable you mean on the podium?
I had a decent night and the last game I ended up being the highest scoring plant with my pea shooter against a tough zombie horde. But I still have plenty of bad games too. My Kernel Corn is getting better. He is fun to play. The flip move he has is awesome.
My aiming still sucks though
I will whisper you my online name tomorrow when I see it. I just went with a xbox generated one. Not like all these kids with names like, XxDarkShadowDeath69xX …hehe.
Tired of @ruouttaurmind and @mfladd having all the fun? This deal was featured on May 27th and returns for one day only…
Best Buy DOD until 11:59pm Sunday, June 10th: Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 for $8 with GCU ($10 without GCU) and free in-store pick-up. Your choice, Xbone or PS4. Don’t forget to pay with your Chase Freedom VISA via PayPal for an additional 5% cash back.
I bought it last time, and for $8 it’s not too bad. @mfladd is a big fan of this game, and he’s created a topic for PvZ:GW2 here. It’s basically a mission based FPS in local play mode, and a typical run n gun shooter in multiplayer mode. But it’s a fun break from the typical COD/Battlefield/GoW types.
@ruouttaurmind Community Event On! Get-Off-My-Lawn-Athon
@mfladd More rainbow stars?
@mfladd Vid from the 'thon
@ruouttaurmind Yes!
@ruouttaurmind I like playing sunflower in these events. Giving health and saving lives can make a difference in these games. And they pay a good amount of coin to buy new packs
Not really the same type of game.
@medz ?
Not sure what you meant.
@mfladd The format. It’s like when GTA went from an overheard view to 1st/3rd person. Totally different game play. Edit: used to be a tower defense game and now it’s a shooter
@medz and sooooooooo much fun!
@medz @mfladd meh. liked it better the old way; not much into fps
@ruouttaurmind I have my first legendary character! The worst one. I have played him before - do not like. very slow, armor is not very good. Has a powerful canon, but fires one shot and then takes age to reload - you better be a crack aim. Here he is:
New favorite character is Metal Chomper! Can take someone down in a couple of bites, very high life number. You can stand toe to toe with any character and survive, even after swallowing someone. He can even survive a pirate barrel blast.
@mfladd I’ve been playing the toxic chomper for the plants, and some kind of little mini zombie who can call in mechs as his special skill. The more kills in a row, his guns get upgraded too. I’ve done well with him. Managed to get on the podium 3 out of 7 games. But my aim is still garbage.
I tried the cactus that turns into a drone, but didn’t do well with him.
I got the yellow key from the big chest, and also landed Law Pea, Plasma Pea, Stuffy Flower. For the zombies I have Electrician (super rare), Plumber, Archeologist, and Electro Brainz. I also got some organic upgrades, but I don’t fully understand how those work just yet. And of course the useless customization accessories.
@ruouttaurmind You’re doing well! Stuffy is a good flower, metal flower is my favorite with speed upgrade. Hate law pea. I am not good with the Construction zombies.
Imp was also my first favorite. I am a beserker player, not a tactician. Archaeologist is one of my favorite scientists, but my go to is the super rare zoologist. I am getting much better with him, and beginning to score more kills. He still gets me on the podium a lot for hearts.
But hopefully you will get metal chomper (he is only rare). I know for a fact that people on the other end were like, wtf!, why won’t this thing just die?! He is a badass in every respect (speed upgrade helps him). He even kills a spinning/shooting imp in 2-3 bites. I fear no one with him, especially a football zombie, or even torchwood.
And you are right, the better you get with each player the more advantages you get with new abilities.
@ruouttaurmind
They are much of the fun! I love seeing all the different looks. Often I’ll wish I had some of the ones I see.
@mfladd I’m mighty glad I didn’t buy that Xbox controller in the eBay sale on Memorial Day! I was cleaning up the clutter in my spare room and came across the retail box my roommate left behind when he moved out (the Xbox One was left behind as compensation for him not getting all his stuff out, and leaving a few days after the beginning of the month without notice and without paying rent).
But I digress… I came across the empty box which felt a little heavy for an empty box. I looked inside and found a 2nd gen controller, complete with integrated headset jack. The controller I’ve been using is a 1st gen, and has no audio jack.
So… I now have a spare controller, and one I can connect a headset to. Oh, and I saved about $35 on a controller I didn’t really need. Go team!
Speaking of headsets, it appears PvZ:GW2 doesn’t have any kind of in-game chat feature? I don’t hear any player to player chatter in the audio. I assumed it was because I didn’t have a headset connected, but now with the headset I still don’t hear game chat. Is that about right?
@ruouttaurmind Nice controller find!
I think people do chat during online games because you can see the icon that shows a speaker next to their name. I haven’t found the set I have yet (in a box somewhere, but I am scared to hear a 12yo yapping about the game
Late last night (couldn’t sleep) I had my best showing yet as the Drake Imp in a town hall game. I had 32 kills and was top performer. I thought that would be it as I am more of a mediocre player. More luck, than skill. But earlier tonight in the town hall I ended up with 41 kills and 23 assists as Drake - tops in both areas. I even have the screen capture to prove it
@mfladd 32 kills? Wow! That’s like superstar stats. Well done!
It’s amazing how the audio really comes alive with headphones.
@ruouttaurmind 41 kills! 32 kills was the earlier game.
So, do you hear everyone talking about the game you are in (that are mic’d up)?
My son watched some you tube video and found a secret place in the sewers where you can open 3 chests for free. I will post a pic of the opening later for you.
@mfladd Absolutely nobody chatting in the game. Ever. This leads me to believe I’ve got something configured incorrectly. I checked the PvZ audio settings, confirmed VoIP is enabled, I hear the game music and sound effects just fine, and I even hear my voice in the headset (mic monitoring). But no player chatting at all. Possibly something I need to configure in Xbox settings, dunno.
So you’re becoming quite a force in this game! I’ll be embarrassed of my skillz if we ever manage to meet up in a game. LOL!
I found several chests in the sewers, and when I whatever that big vault is down there… IIRC, I got to open some chests outside the vault door (or maybe I made that up?). Could this be the chests you’re talking about?
Secret Tips:
Once you’ve collected enough gnomes from the overworld, a phone near the docks will start ringing. Answer it. This will cause a gnome bomb to spawn nearby, which you can take into the sewers to access a secret area with free-to-open chests. One of the chests down here costs 200 stars to unlock, and its contents are currently unknown.
When hunting for gnomes and snow globes, use either the Superhero as he jumps the highest, or Peashooter with his high-jump ability. They’re both able to easily reach areas that other characters can’t.
One of the easiest-to-miss snow globes is in the first mission the zombie pirate gives you in the zombie’s story. In this mission, you shrink down and go inside of a shark, and the globe is hidden behind some debris.
In the sewer, there is a golden pipe across from the fish who exchanges stars for XP. Jump on the pipe as an Imp then into the nearby tunnel to the left to find a secret area with free chests.
Also, in the sewers, there is a door that costs five stars to open that unlocks a shooting gallery mini-game. Complete this mini-game in under 22 seconds to net yourself a ton of free coins. This can be done pretty easily with the peashooter.
In the second room of the shooting gallery, go back and jump up to the area where the gnome target was moving from side to side; once there, look to the right and shoot the wall to discover another hidden free-to-open chest.
There are sea-based items in the overworld that must be activated in a certain order to spawn a chest with a special hat. When activated in the correctly the items give a ding sound. You must be a zombie to activate these items – as one is in the zombie lair – I suggest the superhero as he can easily jump up to item 8 and can use his kick to move faster.
@mfladd Thank you for all that! Your efforts are really appreciated. Going to check it out right now.
@mfladd, if I understand the community event correctly, once I’ve unlocked all 3 chests and banked 50 rainbow stars, there’s really no point to playing additional games there, right? I can just as well play regular multiplayer since I can’t bank more than 50 rainbow stars?
@ruouttaurmind Correct. It’s merely for your personal enjoyment at this point (if you like it). I like the one where the zombies have to push the cannon.
Don’t worry about meeting up with me. You will probably kill me. I get lucky once in a while. I truly am mediocre
re chests: they are in a room that you access from a little sewer pipe at the bottom of the sewers. I will have to post pic, but may have to wait for my boy to show me again.
@mfladd The one with the canon is pure madness at the end. Once everything culminates in the gate tower at the end it’s pure insanity!
I played a few regular online matches, and I have a general sense that the community event matches pay higher coin purses. The most I earned was about 10k. But in the lawn-a-thon I was getting around 20k-ish.
Community Challenge happening now. Play an Engineer or Chomper in all games!
https://www.pvzgw2.com/community-challenge
@ruouttaurmind You need at least 40 kills as either character to fulfill your commitment for the prize. The last time they had one and the top prize was reached I received a cool legendary hat.
@mfladd 40 in a single game??? Or 40 total for the event? That I can do. 40 in one game… not happening.
@ruouttaurmind Total over 5 days! Super easy. I have over 50 right now.
You can go to console in front of the Town Hall to check the progress of yourself and the community.
@mfladd I was playing a few lawn-a-thon rounds Sunday evening and I managed 21 kills in a single game. I was using one of the Chompers. I got cocky and flew too close to the sun. I couldn’t break a dozen after that.
@ruouttaurmind 21 is great! Yup, we have good days and bad days with kills.
@ruouttaurmind Get your kills! Community goal is almost reached. 2 chests open. 1 more to go - the good one (hopefully). You have never seen so many chompers and engineers in your life. What I like about these games is it makes you play characters you might not usually play. I am actually becoming competent with the engineer. Now if I could just learn to play the pirate and soldier decently. My pirate hats are coolest too.
@mfladd So how do I participate? I don’t see a portal to enter. Do I just play Chomper or Engineer in my regular quests?
Feeling kinda noob for not figuring it out.
@ruouttaurmind Yup, just play either online. Not sure if backyard game counts (it should). Then check back at console outside town hall to see where you stand in kills.
@mfladd Hmm. I’m doing something wrong I guess. I just finished a multiplayer match with 8 vanquished zombies, but the community counter only gave me credit for one.
@ruouttaurmind hmm…weird, What were you playing as?
@ruouttaurmind Are you in game now? I am.
@mfladd playing as Chomp
@mfladd Turning it back on. I’ll look for you.
@mfladd Xbox says 0 friends online.
@mfladd Whisper your gamer tag and I’ll try a “find”.
I just tried to join your online match, but got the message ‘Unable to join. Requires an invite or it’s a closed game.’ (Or something similar)
No problem, I figured I’d try a Team Vanquish match. HA! I definitely need to level up before I try that again. Way too many long range, one shot kill weapons in there. I don’t have anything to compete in a long range match, and definitely no one shot kill weapons. It was BRUTAL!
Vanquish is brutal, and where the big boys play. There are a few (CerealKnight and Bioshock - batboy , because he has a bat hat that bats come out of and plays music when he kills you), that are just shock and awe players.
I just got finished playing it.
I am playing citron to try to get better at him. I am trying to get use to the part where you kill players with fast rolls. The secret is to keep in a ball until necessary and then maximize the stun and shield, to shock and overwhelm players. I was amazed at how many people would save me as citron. People will also follow you since you are spearheading with him.
Mostly I am playing him because I have the best new hat. It’s a mouse dressed as an english judge who sits behind a bench and when you kill someone he pounds his gavel with his tail! It’s weird to see because it appears more cartoonish than other hats I’ve seen.
I get all the best hats for the players I don’t use much. I think they might do it to “entice” you to play them. I still can’t handle rose. Love the character but she is dainty and not well armed. Takes forever to kill someone.
@ruouttaurmind Bad day of gaming - getting my ass kicked. I had to go into the The Welcome Mat (classic) game just to feel better about myself. 9 kills with a sunflower - lol - did just that
I have a PC and a regular mouse. This is on sale.
Should I buy it? Is it too hard for me? Will it make me cry? @mfladd? @ruouttaurmind?
@sammydog01
Do you just want us having all the fun?!
Do you cry easily?
@mfladd I bought it, and yes, I cry easily. Tomorrow I kill zombies.
@sammydog01 Yay!
Or plants, just depends. It takes time to get use to it, so don’t get frustrated. Play it on easy mode. If you have questions - just ask.
Have fun!
@sammydog01 Sweet! I’ve never played on a PC, so I have no clue how much difference it makes. But I’m TERRIBLE with the thumb sticks on my Xbox, and I still manage to have fun.
As @mfladd suggested, make sure you’re in Easy mode, and spend some time across the street from your garden (what they call the back yard) getting comfortable with the controls and features. Then run a few quests to get some undead snuffing experience and earn some coin. And ENJOY!
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 This game is strange. Sometimes when I think I am doing well I don’t get many kills. Then when I don’t think I am doing well I do.
Started with football zombie and thought I was just horrendous. Ended up on the podium for first kill but didn’t want to be the asshole doing his dance and then have 1-2 kills. I ended up top player in points for the zombies…wtf? Next game I thought I was doing badly and ended up with 9 kills (football). I think the football can be pretty badass if you can learn the intricacies of using his weapons.
Who doesn’t hate being sprint tackled by a football zombie?
@sammydog01 Are you playing yet?
@mfladd @ruouttaurmind Looks like not until Monday at least.
Ok, @ruouttaurmind, show me your favorite accessorized character you have been able to collect! (not a stock pic)
@mfladd I dig this Samurai tat for Plasma Pea, and the banana horns crack me up.
@mfladd Not highly customized, but the stone carin and little gecko are awesome.
@mfladd Wild West set for Kernel Corn.
@mfladd But Power Chomper with his candy machine hat and fuzzy buck teeth are my favorite.
@ruouttaurmind I love that tattoo and eyewear! I don’t have that. I did the banana horns for a while.
I also use the cactus stones and chomper candy machine hat!
I will show you one next time I turn it on. I am gamed out right now
@ruouttaurmind I’m still kinda jelly about that damn tattoo! Ir’s Asian themed!
You don’t have jade cactus yet I take it? You are going to love that one!
@mfladd I bought this Lynec air mouse/keyboard on Amz last year for $5.99. Last night I plugged the little USB dongle into the Xbone and easy as pie, it works. Keyboard is SO much easier to type login and txt messages compared to the on-screen keyboard.
@ruouttaurmind Wow $5.99! I will have to look for something like that.
@mfladd You can get those keyboard attachments for the controller, but as seldom as I use a keyboard, I didn’t want the clutter on the controller. This will work just fine, and I’m glad I finally found a use for it. I initially got it for my RasPi, but I never really did much with the Pi. Now it sits, forgotten, on my workbench.
Oh my. I haven’t played pvz since it was a promo game in either wow or eq2. I played both for years and i can’t remember which it was lol
Two new legendary hats! First is the toaster headphones for the football player that spits out Pop Tarts on a kill - LOVE.
And the cork canon hat - I hate playing the pirate - I haven’t tried it yet.
@ruouttaurmind I have seen you online twice and sent you invites - you ignored me - pfft!
@mfladd I’v been fussing with Elder Scrolls Online this weekend and have notifications turned off because I was getting flooded with invites to join clans.
PS: I’ve never messed with any of these RP MMOs before. If Elder Scrolls is a typical representation, I guess I haven’t been missing much.
@ruouttaurmind What is RP MMO’s? Remember that I am not really a gamer
@mfladd Role Play Massive Multi-Player Online (MMORPG I believe is the common nomenclature)
Elder Scrolls Online is the MMO extension for the very popular Skyrim title from Bethesda Softworks. (I also have never played Skyrim)
Dang, nobody is playing the community challenge. I’ve been waiting for players to join the quest for almost 10 minutes! Maybe it’s because I’m only now starting and everyone else has completed the first challenges.
@ruouttaurmind No, I played a few times and never even came close to winning. I was the last player standing a few times. My son went the farthest. But he had to use a lot of our consumable revive cards. No one is playing probably because I have no idea how anyone wins it. It’s fucking crazy tough!
@mfladd I tried a little later in the day and managed to hook up with other players a total of 3 times. First two the plants ate all our bait. The last one I’m not sure what happened, but I saw the “mission not completed” message there too. As frustrating as the previous community events have been, I much prefer them.
On the plus side, some guy I know from the interwebs told me to save my rainbow stars, not to give them to that greedy seagull, so I did cash them in for the 50 stars chest and got another key for my effort.
@ruouttaurmind Glad you listened to him
My son is playing now. This game sucks - way to hard to win. Probably why they are selling special sticker packs to help you.
@ruouttaurmind Ok, the kid and 2 others actually survived the 20 mins of pure chaos, then some 1:30 hunt timer came on - they survived that but did not accomplish whatever goal they were suppose to. Total coins given were 8000 for 30 min of crazy play and using consumable cards up. What a waste - stay away from it.
@mfladd No rainbow stars either, right?
@ruouttaurmind 3 RS for over 30 min of work - crappy game!
@ruouttaurmind Community Event: Play chompers and engineers again for community prizes.
On a side note, I have been playing for shit lately and wondered if this was like golf, where you get worse not better the more you play.
But I just had my best game of Vanquish ever. With football zombie I scored three podium awards - most kills: 17, most unassisted: 16, and first kill. That felt good
(it seemed like his hat never stopped popping Pop Tarts out of it)
@mfladd Well done! I haven’t played for a while, but will be logging some Chomp time this weekend.
@ruouttaurmind I was wrong about the event. My mail was wrong. I went to the town hall and it’s a taunt event. you have to give a taunt after each kill - you need 30.
I hate taunting in a game because it is cocky and you usually end up being killed while you do it. But it’s kinda funny seeing everyone do it.
I suggest you change your Gestures for each player you are playing to something quick - like yes or no nod. This helps.
@mfladd Reminds me of the “humiliation” field orders in COD where you have to teabag the player you just killed, but you have only a few seconds to do it. I would often get killed trying to pause in the middle of an active battlefield to complete the mission. Eventually I learned to go seek out isolated players and finish them off in relative safety.
@ruouttaurmind Hahahaha…teabag them? I may have to try that game
@mfladd The field order says “humiliate your enemy” I had to search for what exactly that meant.
@mfladd I played PvZ last night… but not at home. LOL!
PvZ casino game:
@ruouttaurmind SweeeT! Did you win?
@mfladd Nah, not much. I was betting small. I won a few hundy playing my complimentary free slot play on video poker and usually when that happens I get greedy and don’t like to give any back to the casino.
@sammydog01 Are you playing yet?
@mfladd Not yet. Gotta put it on my calendar.
Microsoft is offering a 12mos Xbox Live Gold subscription for $40 (normally $60). IIRC, you can stack up to 3 years of prepaid Xbox Live Gold subs, so if you’re feeling wealthy, grab three. I just tested, and MS let me get to the last step of the purchase process for additionals, so it looks like they’re not limiting you to one offer per customer.
Plants vs Zombies GW2 is $6.25 to own in XBLG Deals with Gold.
@ruouttaurmind. Well after taking a really, really long hiatus of GW, and the controller really fucking up my problematic right wrist - like bad, I came back to play some games.
What I wanted you to know is the graphics seem to have gotten some kind of overhaul, and that you can now buy a package which includes Torchwood and HoverGoaT 3000. I am soooo tempted just because I will never pass the Trial of Gnomus. The cost is $9.99 or $8.99 w/ EA Access.

@mfladd I think I shelved it about the same time you did. I got frustrated with the very slow progress in leveling up. I feel like I got my $8 out of it, and won’t feel bad if I don’t ever pick it up again.
Be careful with that wrist though. I used to get Mario thumb when I was a kid and it still flares up from time to time.
Isn’t this series basically Battlefield in a more kid-friendly skin?
@FeralRants I’ve never played so I am not sure. Kids yes, but it is soooo much fun. Except for the part where 12 yo’s send me mean msgs Some kids are horrible.
