@irish3md Not only that but the six which I bought hardly made a dent for there must have 50-100 packages there. I figured that a dollar and half’s worth would keep me in Peeps for a while, or until they sit in the cabinet and go hard and stale.
BTW, whenever I go into that store, that is the first place I go, The Manager’s Shelf, to see what out of date, bent can, and unsold detritus that I didn’t know I needed is there.
On that particular day, I bought:
**two six packs of local microbrewery beer
(Atlanta Brewing Company Homestead @$8.79 <-$10.99,
**12 12oz-variety pack of Reformation Brewery: (three - Jogr Juicy Lager 4.9% alc v/v, three - Oren Pale Ale Citrus Fresh (5.0% alc v/v), three - Nolan IPA (7.0% alc v/v), and three - Surprise “surprise” additional beers for $15.29 <-$16.00),
**five large cans (18.6 oz) of Campbell’s Chunky Spicy Chicken Noodle soup @$1.29 ea <-$2.89,
**a can (1.5 oz) of Campbell’s Beef Gravy @89¢ <-$1.79,
**two 1.3 oz cartons of fancy green tea (for the granddaughter): Stash Premium Green and Stash Green Chai @$1.79 ea. <-$3.49 ea.
**a package (12 oz) of Mama’s Seasoned Coating Mix for chicken, chops, steak & vegetables @ $1.49 <-$2.89.
In addition to the aforementioned six packages of Peeps (yellow) for 29¢ ea.
It was a lot like an IRK moment, but it cost a lot more than $5, and I didn’t get an IRK bag, just a regular Kroger plastic one – several in fact.
And. And. And. I got 20¢/gallon off regular at the Kroger gas pump for $3.299/gal that very same day <-$3.499.
Shazam!
Oh, yeah, I went into the store for some raw carrots and a head of cabbage…

You can also make Peep infused vodka (but be aware the eyeballs don’t dissolve so they float around in the jar). It’s a bit disconcerting.
Wait, 6 years ago was the time to buy peeps? How did I miss that?
I hate peeps, but that song was awesome.
HIKING! VIKINGS! STRIKE KING [BRAND FISHING LURES]! AWESOME!
I was at Kroger the other day, and Peeps were 29¢/package on the Manager’s Quick Sale shelf. I bought six.
I just hate it when I open the goody cabinet and ask what’s on special, and there is not a peep!
@Jackinga That’s one heck of a manager!

@Jackinga
Have you tried microwaving them for a few seconds? Softens them right up.
@89 @Jackinga I do the same thing! Go to the store for something specific and hit the discount section before I even get my need.

@89 @irish3md Good point. I will try to remember that if any are left long enough to undergo Peeposclerosis (aka hardening of the Peeps).
I have never bought Peeps but I have eaten many of them because other people buy/share them.
@yakkoTDI
/giphy its alive

I’m not usually a Peeps fan, but this year they had these - caramel filled!

I drove 15 mi. to buy 5 packs because they sold out locally.
