PSA: Frozen Vegetable Recall
19CDC has issued a huge recall of frozen vegetables linked to a deadly listeria outbreak.
"More than 350 products like green beans, broccoli, peas and blueberries sold under 42 brands at grocers including Safeway, Costco and Trader Joe's in the U.S. and Canada have now been recalled."

Yep... I have some of them (purchased at BJs).
Fun fun fun...
@baqui63 - I did too, Trader Joe's Organic Foursome.
@KDemo That sounds like a topic for another forum...
Oh, gee, thanks for all the cheer!
Ok, i get to live, but still.

Listeria? We dont need no stinkin' listeria!
I am staring into my freezer. My vegetables are talkin'.
"Well, punk. Do ya feel lucky?
@f00l - Do ya'?
@KDemo
Not really. Such a coward i am. Scared of my freezer veggies.
Uh, too late? I finished a bag of KS organic stir-fry last week ...
Seriously. Don't want to worry you, but please be aware of the symptoms and act accordingly. From the article "If you did eat them and have symptoms such as fever, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, seek medical care. Sometimes listeriosis symptoms develop up to two months after eating contaminated food, but they usually start within several days." We love you @narfcake
@KDemo (@narfcak) @narfcake
So much for vegetables being "good for you"
@KDemo . . . you may have just described a typical day for @narfcake.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@KDemo Thanks. I'll keep it in mind.
The bag is still in the trash bin outside, so I'll dig it out in the morning.
@Pavlov The only "typical" part is confusion. :P
@narfcake
Periscope it when you keel over?
@narfcake the thing is... heat kills it. You should be more worried about lunch meat than frozen veggies... frozen veggies get cooked... lunchmeat, not always
@thismyusername - Good point, I kind of scanned over that when I read the story. "Listeria can be killed with proper cooking, but unless you're going to use a thermometer to make sure the foods reach 165 degrees F, it's best not to risk it." However, people may be likely to use some of the frozen fruits in smoothies.

('tis a @fishbiscuit shirt that's no longer available)
@KDemo Didn't get a chance to check this morning. So far I'm still feeling fine, so sorry, @f00l, no plans for any videos.
@narfcake - Seems that a few of us have eaten some of the recalled products without ill effects, I think you'll be fine. I hate Periscope anyway. ;-)
@KDemo Smoothies = healthy
Not a problem in this house. :D
@KDemo oh yea I'm not suggesting you keep the crap around and risk it... just in the case of the veggies I think the risk is minimal, frozen fruit not so much... it also gets put on cereal, yogurt, ice cream etc with no cooking... unnecessary risk. I say toss it all if it's on the list (or get money back etc).
@narfcake
Such a spoilsport.
Thanks for the heads up.
Had bags of peas and corn that were both on the list. Been eating out of the bags for a least a year now, so I assume if they were contaminated I would have known by now. Both bags went into the garbage anyways.
Cmd-F "Key Food"
Phew.
My lima beans the list! Thank you!
Bag is half eaten but I still think I'll toss it. Gonna miss enhanced farting that accompanies their consumption.
@etheltheflog
Awww. Sympathies!
@etheltheflog - There's a short list of foods I really don't like, including Swiss cheese, bananas, and Lima beans. Very sorry, but good riddance. ;-)
I saw this on FB last week. Shared it. Checked our peas against the recall list. Two bags (since they run out of them at Costco, I figured to stock up). Yeah, there they are.
No problem, I figure, I'll just boil the hell out of them (we like our veggies mushy).
So, last night, we had noodles, fish sticks and hella boiled peas for dinner. And I says to the husband "yanno, before when something from CostCo was recalled, they called us and warned us about it...since there has been no call, I'm not worried about it".
This morning, the phone rings. I don't recognize the number. I answer. It's a CostCo robocall. "Our records show that you bought one or more of the following products...."
Sigh.
@lisaviolet - I've never gotten one of those calls, Costco is so cool. Don't suppose they offer roborefunds, though?
@KDemo I wish. I'd hand the robo the bags of frozen peas (and anything else that might be in there, cauliflower, mixed veggies, whatever) and send them home with it.
The recall robocalls are another nice thing about CostCo membership. And we'll also get a snail mail letter followup to the phone call.
Hmm, maybe this is the cause of the stomach disorder going from person to person in my house. Yep, fun times indeed.
@pitamuffin - Sorry, sounds awful. Seems like I listeria wouldn't go from person to person, but not sure.
Thanks for the heads-up. All clear despite having a ton of frozen veggie packs in the chest freezer

All natural food means all natural pathogens. I'm surprised Banana Girl hasn't keeled over from some sort of all natural, all organic bacteria in her all natural, all organic diet.
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to eat some highly processed, heavily irradiated, deep fried chicken strips cooked in partially hydrogenated vegetable oil with added trans fats for extra flavor. The only safe way to stay healthy.
