Prime "No Rush" shipping
9How many people use Amazon Prime's "No Rush" option? Typically if you select no-rush you get a $1 credit.... lately it's been for Music/Instant Video, but they previously did Kindle Books and Prime Pantry as well.
For those that don't know: If you already pay for Amazon Prime, and opt for slower shipping instead of 2 day shipping, you get a $1 Amazon Credit per item.
I don't need most things in 2 days. I pay for Amazon Prime for free shipping with no minimum order amount. 2 days is maybe one in ten orders for me. So I usually do no-rush and get the credit.

I love the No Rush option. During the Christmas season I racked up at least $10 toward Kindle books. But the last couple times I've ordered something from Amazon I was offered a Pantry credit and I passed.
The problem is that I need everything now.
@spacezorro
I always use the no rush option. I buy all of my music on Amazon so it is great for me.
@conandlibrarian Do you also get the credit on music?
@cengland0 Yep! It's awesome.
The credits EXPIRE...which is ridiculous! I was trying to save up enough and they're taking them away :(
@hippiechik Ran into the same thing, screw the credit I will take my stuff NOW
@hippiechik Don't you get them after each order? How could you save them up? Wouldn't you just use them on your next order....or is that not how it works?
@MrMark I see from another comment that those credits are for specific merchandise or services. For example, you could buy some toilet paper and get a $1 credit for an MP3 download or $1 credit for Amazon Pantry items. It might not be something you were planning on buying that day.
@MrMark Like, If you get $1 credit toward an Amazon movie rental, They are expiring before I can save up enough to pay for the whole rental. So, Amazon can kiss my butt...and from now on ship my items to me in 2 days
I've got a couple albums recently because of it. It's awesome. ...is it evil when I'm ordering multiple things at one time to place 3 orders so that I get 3 credits??
@luvche21 The OP said you get $1 credit per item so does it make sense to do 3 separate orders? You should be able to get $3 credit with one order if you have 3 items. Just an observation. I'm not a prime member so I don't know anything about it.
@cengland0 It's not per item though -- at least the last time I ordered multiple items at once.
@luvche21 No it's not evil... What's evil is to break it out into multiple orders then placing the last one wtih 2 day or overnight shipping, Generally they throw them all in one big box (unless it's from different warehouses) and it all comes as the fastest shipping method chosen. And you still get your credits. :) That makes me feel a little evil when that happens. Found that out totally by accident over the holidays. I needed 1 gift overnighted, but I had a few that could take up to 3 weeks before I needed them so I was thinking, SLOWER is better less time for me to store the crap.... Then it all arrived at once. Overnighted...
@cengland0 You'd think it would be per item instead of Per shipment cause the upgrade to overnight is per item...
@luvche21 I've had it both ways. If there's going to be different delivery dates (2 shipments) Amazon offers me the option for each item. Sometimes it's one offer per order, sometimes it's one per item if they're coming in different shipments. I've noticed this, too, changes along with what they offer you.
I got the option once do no-rush in exchange for a $5.99 Amazon Pantry credit. By the time I got around to looking up what Amazon Pantry was, the offer was back to a buck for music.
@mikey Yeah, they do seem to change the offer up. I wonder if they alter it based on where you spend money with them too. Like someone who doesn't own a Kindle doesn't get kindle ebook offers?
@Collin1000 or only gets Kindle credits
I do it quite frequently. I usually get book credits, I've taken a few pantry credits but I never have been asked about a music credit.
@RedHot It was MP3 credits for quite some time. I remember buying an album off it. http://www.maximizingmoney.com/shopping/amazon-prime-members-get-1-amazon-mp3-store-credit-for-using-free-no-rush-shipping/ I think the current offer is "digital items" and counts toward MP3 or Instant Video as well.
I love No Rush shipping, when I'm not in a rush to get the item. Yes, the credits do expire. But you have something like 8 months before they expire, which is plenty of time as far as I am concerned.
I've gotten lots of music downloads and movie rentals with the credits.
@pitamuffin the credit offers I see expire in like 3 months or less - if it were 8 months I might take advantage of it. We don't buy many e-things on Amazon so those credits aren't worth much to us.
@RedOak I usually have in mind something I want to buy with the credit anyway.... a CD or a Movie usually. I've got a wishlist of movies I "want to watch" so when I get enough movie credits I just buy one. Same with Kindle books, I've got a wishlist of "books to read".
@RedOak Oops, my bad. I just looked at the email from the last credit I received, but that was a special promotion credit that lasted 8 months, not a shipping credit. You're right, about 3 months for the no rush shipping credit. I get that it isn't worth it for some people, but for me it's still a great deal.
I buy most of my amazon stuff through my mobile device. Do you see the offers there as well as the full site?
I swear one day I will think ahead enough to buy dog food before there is only ~1 scoop left in the container...
My brother-in-law will order multiple items in separate orders just so he can get the $1 credit for each order. So, what would have normally be sent in one box, he gets like 6 separate boxes all show up on the same day. lol
