@djslack me too. Our thermostat is junk, so needed replaced anyway. May as well go big. Not sure what’ll I’ll plug into the outlet. (disco ball?) I also got the cheap toilet paper through Alexa.
@djslack I got two TP Link smart outlets. There must’ve been a glitch, because it applied my $10 off $20 item to it, so I got one for $5 and one for $15.
@djslack Check your local gas/electric company - mine is giving a $100 rebate for buying Nest or Ecobee3 (I went with Ecobee) - up to 2 units. So I’ll be getting a $200 check soon!
@luvche21 unfortunately no such luck. The electric company gives all kinds of rebates but only as direct payment to contractors, no rebates for diy stuff. Gas company doesn’t even have an option for my state on their rebates page. Found another state and they’re only offering $25 for thermostats anyway. But it’s definitely worth checking into, some places have good ones.
@capguncowboy lol. It doesn’t seem as terrible at first glance as last year’s set. Seemed like lots of 30-50% off on reasonably mainstream items, less miniscule discounts on crap. At least from the 15 minutes I spent scrolling through.
@lichme@ACraigl I tried the echoism.io app and set it all up. Tried to buy the griddler. It found it but came back with an 89.95 price. Ah well. It was a cool experiment.
@sammydog01 I bought two of them (and already had 1). They’re AWESOME! “Alexa, turn on the living room light.”
I’m using one for a rotating fan as soon as it comes, and the third is pending some kind of genius idea.
The plugs themselves also have a fairly extensive app that lets you name each one, assign to groups (ie. “Movie mode” could turn off the one hooked to lights and turn on the one attached to the TV). It also has a “vacation” setting that will randomly turn the light on and off during a preset time period so it looks like people are home.
Still some 3DR Solo Prime Day bundles left for $599.
Includes the Solo, gimbal, rigid backpack and a spare set of rotors. About half price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C7HJ554
I own a Solo. Definitely not worth the original $1200 ask for this bundle, but a hell of a bargain at $600.
3DR continues to refine the Solo app, adding features and enhancing functionality. For those worried about the longevity of 3D Robotics as a company, Autodesk (the folks who publish AutoCAD software) just made a massive investment in 3DR. It’s unlikely Autodesk will let 3DR fail.
By the way… Discovercard is offering a 5% cash back bonus on all Amazon.com orders through Q3-2016. If you were going to buy something today anyway, use your Discovercard and save an additional 5% off all those Prime Day values!
I jumped on the $160 Ecobee thermostat, $15 TP-link smart outlet, and $10 27 oz box of Greenies through Alexa. http://amazon.com/alexadeals

@DaveInSoCal That was a good glitch because I tried to order a second one and it was $30. One deal per Alexa.

Interesting ones:
Echo $130 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X4WHP5E
Tap $100 (still burns not getting it at $70) https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BH83OOM
Instant Pot $69 ($59 through Alexa) https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FLYWNYQ
Several Kindle and Kindle Fire deals as well.
@djslack EVERYONE SHOULD BUY THE ECHO. We love ours.
@DaveInSoCal I’ve considered it, but I don’t like the idea of yelling across my house for things I can just look up on my phone.
oh crap I almost forgot about that…
Oh wait, I also nearly forgot about how I waited up last year to save 4% on socks…
@capguncowboy lol. It doesn’t seem as terrible at first glance as last year’s set. Seemed like lots of 30-50% off on reasonably mainstream items, less miniscule discounts on crap. At least from the 15 minutes I spent scrolling through.
Don’t forget if you have the Amazon Rewards Visa, you can save $30 on any purchase of $150 or more with coupon code VISA30 as part of Prime Day.
@ACraigL hmmm… if only I could use a coupon on the Alexa purchase of the Ecobee, I’d cancel and reorder on my fiancee’s card.
@djslack lol…I was trying to figure this out too
@medz @djslack Just to clarify, it doesn’t have to be a single item of that value. Any purchase with a total of $150 or more earns the discount.
Don’t have an Echo device and want to get in on the Alexa deals? Use echosim.io - seems to work just fine.
@djslack It ordered me uncharted 4 but no discount
@StrangerDanger My bad for not testing it fully. Seems it doesn’t see the prime day deals.
@djslack it was worth a try.
Dead pool HD on Amazon videos is $6.99 to buy. I must have had some shipping credits because it came out to less than $5.

Like the title says. Buy a $50 (physical) gift card and $10 will be applied to your account. Yay! Free money. Use promo code GCPRIME16
Buy it here:

@ACraigL I just did that and was coming here to let people know.
@ACraigL Looks like this one’s gone.
Or save yourself the effort and let The Wirecutter find the Prime Day deals for you. http://thewirecutter.com/deals/
I bought a $33 Fire tablet to download music and play at the pool with my Banana Boat speaker. I hate to take my phone there.
Exploding kittens. - $15
The Griddler (when purchased through Echo) for $30 is a pretty awesome deal.
@ACraigL That is a great price. If I didn’t have one already, I’d be in for it.
Other kitchen small appliances - the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker for $70 is a great price too.
@ACraigL I really want this but do not have an Echo
@conandlibrarian I’d score it for you, but I’m not home. Probably will sell out by the time I do. But I can try later, if you want.
@ACraigL I appreciate the offer, but I am good. This is something I want, but don’t need. I appreciate the offer though!
@conandlibrarian Maybe try getting it through https://echosim.io/
@lichme @ACraigl I tried the echoism.io app and set it all up. Tried to buy the griddler. It found it but came back with an 89.95 price. Ah well. It was a cool experiment.
Also on Echo they have a wifi outlet that Alexa can control for fifteen bucks. I’m pretty excited.
@sammydog01 I bought two of them (and already had 1). They’re AWESOME! “Alexa, turn on the living room light.”
I’m using one for a rotating fan as soon as it comes, and the third is pending some kind of genius idea.

@DaveInSoCal My second dot is coming at the end of the month and I plan on using it for a bedroom lamp. They sound very cool.
I snagged a Hauwei Watch for $175. Hell of a deal.

I broke down last night and bought the 55" samsung 4k TV for $550. It’ll arrive next friday; can’t wait!
