I have nothing specific on my list. I was going to see if I could get a discount on the doggo’s DNA kit, but I caved and purchased it already. Couldn’t wait. Speaks to a lack of self control I think.
I kinda want a good hand held vacuum. Like a Dustbuster. I want it to vacuum the couch, my car, quick things on the floor, stuff like that. Oh and someone to buy me a vacation
@Star2236 Tractor Supply has the Dewalt DCV517 portable wet/dry vac for $60. No battery included so you would have to either already belong to the Dewalt 20v Max club or purchase a battery and charger separately. Best price on this vac I’ve ever seen. Not the most powerful shop vac, but much more powerful than a Dustbuster, et al plus it can do wet or dry. Bonus: it’s nicknamed “the aardvark” among the Dewalt fanboi crowd.
@ruouttaurmind
Yeah something like that would be awesome! My boyfriend does construction so he might have a battery but not one that I could probably keep at home. I want it cheaper though.
@Barney I don’t qualify for the $5 credit, but they will have some Prime videos at half off Oct. 13 And 14. I clicked on some of them and the discount is already in effect. I may watch one or two tonight in case it’s a mistake and they catch it.
@sammydog01@speediedelivery I don’t know. I was hoping that someone else could answer this. However, I do know that @ruouttaurmind cancelled his Prime, maybe he has the answer?
@Barney@sammydog01@speediedelivery Yes, purchased videos are yours to watch regardless of Prime status. I have about two dozen movies and TV shows in my library, none of them disappeared when I cancelled Prime. Even free videos I received as a Prime special offer are still available to me. I can watch online or download for offline viewing just like before.
I’ve been underwhelmed with the last couple of years prime day (except for some real deals on Amazon electronics). But if they have a corresponding % off coupon for warehouse, that will be worth prowling around for.
If someone wants something specific then one might find a good deal.
But I’m not shopping for anything expensive for which I would wait for a good discount
and prev prime days have, I’ve found, been overrated as shopping events, at least for what I found then.
If someone wants specific tech, kitchen stuff, lux goods such as handbags and watches, sporting goods, etc - the major “wishlist categories” - there might be worthy deals. Best not to be distracted by the volume of fluff tho.
I might looking for good deals of digital media, depending on my mood.
Or not.
@f00l I usually keep an eye out for my weak spot Casio G-Shock, Mudman, Cockpit, and the nicer Edifice watches but the few they’ve had usually sell out before I find them. But I picked up some nice warehouse deals with the 20% off the last couple of years.
I love g-shocks. I have several and kinda wish I could justify collecting them. But I have learned to be wary of my desire to collect stuff - I wind up with too much stuff, and I’ve spent $ on all that stuff.
/image g-shock
And I’m not wearing a g-shock at the moment. My other fav line of watches are the Garmins. Btw these have v decent battery life (for connected smart watches) and are as waterproof and rugged as g-shocks afaik.
If I could justify spending $500-600 in a watch, I’d get one of the new Garmin fénix watches or one of the v new garmin triathlon watches. I don’t need them for athletics, but the heart and stress monitoring capacities are much improved in the latest editions with new chipsets.
But no $500 watch for me at present. I’ll poke along w a prev gen.
/image Garmin fénix 6
Re the newest watches that do pulse-ox (Garmin, fitbit, Apple, etc). currently wrist pulse-ox is not verified as being more than casually reliable.
If someone wants or needs accurate pulse-ox, the way to go for now is prob a good quality Bluetooth pulse-ox fingertip monitor (to wear during sleep), which will talk to your phone, and which will cost far less than any decent smart watch does.
Pulse-ox (wrist or fingertip) is a hot topic right now: new attempts at pulse-ox monitoring in warriors watcjes smd wristbands, and relevance to general hearth, coronavirus illness and recovery, sleep apnea, heart health, etc.
Currently, fingertip pulse-ox is the standard: blood vessel reading is much easier and more accurate there. Wrist-measurement accuracy has a way to go to catch up.
/image pulse-ox fingertip
This reminds me: I might look for a good fingertip Bluetooth pulse-ox reader on Prime Day.
Last year I bought a gaming laptop. This year I’m hoping for a pair of Echo Studios. I could also use some drapes and a rod, but they are not the kind of thing often featured on Prime Day. Also I’m picky enough that anything that is featured is probably not what I want.
I will probably take advantage of the $20 in discounts you can earn my making two purchases using the Amazon app by October 12. I have the app but I have always bought from the website.
@ThunderChicken *speaking of the app vs website, a couple things I’ve noticed…
While the iOS Phone app supports smile (gotta tell it so in settings - smile does not default follow your account), as does the web, the iOS (iPadOS) iPad app does not!?!
Also, if you’re following a deal web link to an Amazon page, after landing, be sure to edit the link by replacing the part in front of Amazon.com with “smile.” So it is “smile.amazon.com…”
I keep a lot of stuff in “saved for later” to monitor the prices. When you go to your cart, Amazon lists the items that have price-changed. But the app doesn’t support linking out of that list whilst the web version does. (Yah, I also use camelcamelcamel.com, but it misses fast price changes).*
My youngest children, twins are going to turn 15 in November. I am pregnant (unintentionally) again and due in February. We have nothing left from the boys, so I’m going to be buying baby stuff on prime day. Lots and lots of baby stuff. Sigh. Children are a blessing, right?
@Kidsandliz
Girl. Our oldest is a girl, the twins are boys. We only wanted two. Life apparently did not give a shit what we wanted so here we go again.
Prime Only: Spend $10 at Whole Foods, get $10 credit during Prime Day.
*To qualify, scan your Prime code (or use your linked phone number) at checkout and receive a $10 credit when you spend $10 (excluding alcohol, gift cards, stamps, tips, taxes and fees) in a single qualifying purchase at Whole Foods Market in-store or online between September 28, 2020, and October 14, 2020.
Products purchased on Amazon dot com must be sold by Whole Foods Market (look for “sold by Whole Foods Market” on the product detail page) to qualify.
The $10 credit applies to an Amazon dot com purchase made between 12:00 am (PT) October 13, 2020, and 11:01 pm (PT) October 15, 2020. Restrictions apply. Offer limited to Prime members and one per customer per account. See full terms at amazon.com/primeday10.
@mike808 just one catch: you gotta pay Whole Foods prices to buy something there.
That means shopping very carefully. (And we have a big beautiful new Whole Foods nearby… can get same or better quality produce elsewhere for less money… as well as everything else in the store… WF seems to set prices nationally rather than by market and our market is very grocery price-competitive.)
@mike808@RedOak
been awhile, but what i have found at whole foods that is often worth it is fancy cheese. can’t get it in most markets and cheese shops are usually more expensive.
other couple of things i have liked in the past is the specialty meats - smoked fish, sausages, etc. again, not cheap, but often not available in many places.
last thing is coffee if you pay attention. won’t get it for 5 bucks, but many carry local roasters at about the same price as the roaster, check for roasting date being in the last couple weeks if you are not a coffee geek.
Prime members: Purchase $10 of select small business products between September 28, 2020 and October 12, 2020 and earn a $10 credit to use on Prime Day, starting October 13, 2020 at 12:00am (PT). Limit one per customer. See all terms and conditions below.

Maybe nose around for some Christmas presents.
@tinamarie1974 I will definitely buy one of these if it goes on sale
@MrMikenIkes they did last year, so it is possible
I kinda want a good hand held vacuum. Like a Dustbuster. I want it to vacuum the couch, my car, quick things on the floor, stuff like that. Oh and someone to buy me a vacation

VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
You might want to check this out and see if you qualify.

@Barney oohhh thanks. Checking it out!!
@Barney hmmm, I don’t qualify. Probably a prime member too long and they don’t think i will ever quit.
@Barney Thank you
@Barney I don’t qualify for the $5 credit, but they will have some Prime videos at half off Oct. 13 And 14. I clicked on some of them and the discount is already in effect. I may watch one or two tonight in case it’s a mistake and they catch it.

The prices are in effect now.
@Barney @sammydog01 ok, dumb question. If I buy a video now and later cancel prime, can I still see the video ( movie and/ or tv series)?
@Barney @speediedelivery I think so?
@sammydog01 @speediedelivery I don’t know. I was hoping that someone else could answer this. However, I do know that @ruouttaurmind cancelled his Prime, maybe he has the answer?

@Barney @sammydog01 I didn’t know yet. My LD GF and I have watch parties nearly every night. Last night we watched La La Land. We both loved it.
I’ll probably buy a Alexa compatible SmartEnema.
@mokiawa Let me know how that “comes out”?
I’ve been underwhelmed with the last couple of years prime day (except for some real deals on Amazon electronics). But if they have a corresponding % off coupon for warehouse, that will be worth prowling around for.

@RedOak Thanks!
I’ll have to check if Smile support defaults in Android.
Yes, I noticed that CamelCamelCamel was useless last Prime Day.
Definitely read the fine print on the $20 discount offer. The two purchases have to be for at least $20 each and Amazon must be the seller.
/giphy why should i care?
@Cerridwyn are they selling HIM on prime day?
@tinamarie1974
have no idea
and no idea how those key words got that image, LOL
Calling @oldcatlady
@Cerridwyn @tinamarie1974
How much double sided tape do you suppose is on that towel?
@Cerridwyn @mtb002 there is a towel?
@Cerridwyn Dayum.
@Cerridwyn @tinamarie1974
Apparently…
@mtb002 @tinamarie1974
i vote for old school spirit gum
@Cerridwyn if that is how you spend your day, then yah, why care about anything else?!
@RedOak
if i was 40 years younger, i might dream of it
@Cerridwyn what does age have to do with it?
@RedOak
stamina
My youngest children, twins are going to turn 15 in November. I am pregnant (unintentionally) again and due in February. We have nothing left from the boys, so I’m going to be buying baby stuff on prime day. Lots and lots of baby stuff. Sigh. Children are a blessing, right?
@mtb002
Only on the days when you aren’t thinking there are good reasons why some species eat their young.
You know yet if a boy or a girl?
@Kidsandliz
Girl. Our oldest is a girl, the twins are boys. We only wanted two. Life apparently did not give a shit what we wanted so here we go again.
Prime Day is too expensive.
Prime Only: Spend $10 at Whole Foods, get $10 credit during Prime Day.

Qualifying products at Amazon.com/supportsmall
Same deal with spending $10 at an Amazon 4-Star store and get $10 for Prime Day. And apparently we have one in St. Louis now (in the Galleria).
https://www.amazon.com/b/?node=17988552011
@tinamarie1974
@mike808 I haven’t been to the Galleria in years. Maybe I have an excuse to pop in and look around now. Thanks!!
@mike808 we have one of those locally in a high end mall. It feels out of place there - kind of like a garage or estate sale. And since the prices are the same, ‘not sure what the point is.
October 13th is Treat Yo’ Self Day. Treat yo’ self!
Pre-Prime Day deal on the Divergent Trilogy posted here.
@ruouttaurmind nice deal. And 3-movie The Expendables for $6
@RedOak @ruouttaurmind
Good thing I recorded them OTA for free when Comet ran a marathon recently.
I need a new roomba for the basement
@kykazaa I have to finish my coffee this morning. I read that as, I need a new roommate for the basement.
