@haydesigner I found Gold Toe socks, designed for size 12-15(I am 10-11, depending on width) and find they fit very comfortably without the elastic leaving seemingly permanent dents in my calves.
@rtjhnstn Compression over the calf socks. I tried a few pairs via Groupon and the make my feet feel great after being on my feet for 10 or 12 hours straight. I don’t have any circulation problems or any other health issue. I’m 5’ 11” 160 lbs so weight isn’t a problem. They just really work well and I am pleasantly surprised.
I love Gold Toe Fluffies. I have multiples in white and black, and various lenghts. I often buy size 13 because it makes it into a knee high for me. Yeah, they’re in the men’s department, but I love them more than any sock I’ve ever found in women’s, and the fact that I’m of diminutive size means that all of them are at least mid calf for me.
For workouts, ankle socks with strong arch support. For sleeping after a home pedicure, toeless socks with gel lined heels. The rest of the time, no socks at all.
Costco used to have these cushioned crew socks (in extended sizes, even!) that I absolutely loved, but now they’re almost all worn through and I can’t even figure out who the manufacturer is to order them from elsewhere.
I have some thicker and more supportive UnderArmour no-shows I use for going to the gym and light running, thin Adidas no-shows I use for everyday wear (just can’t go sockless with my slip-ons and boat shoes), and ankle Adidas I use for sports because no-shows invariably slide down my achilles and cause my cleats to wear on my heel. When I play basketball every once in a while, I have some Nike crews.

@narfcake
You just gave me an idea which may or may not involve squirrels, bees, penguins, and glitter.
Are we going to get ankle socks as a result of this poll?
The kind that don’t leave an imprint.
This. I have very thick calves, and most socks seem to leave marks on me from the elastic.

Oooh I love super soft wool ones in the wintertime! Soooo cozy.

It seems the crew sock is underrepresented… #dadsocks
@Superllama7 Standard crew socks. I prefer gray.
Toe socks! Then I can wear any shoes I want.
Compression stockings… not by choice.

Does not matter the kind of sock, they always put the seam on the wrong side.
crew socks, nice designs women’s socks
Knee-high socks. Preferably not patterned. Not trouser socks, though; they tend to be too thin and weirdly smooth.

I’ve never, ever seen them in that color, but now I want them. I wonder if Kohl’s has them???

Low cut socks. They’re in between ankle and no shows. They’re high enough to go above the shoe so my ankles don’t get irritated.
Black, so they match the inside of most of my shoes.
Smartwool or an merino wool socks is all I wear.
Cotton.
Wool blend at least halfway to the knee, winter or summer. I find it helps with my Reynaud’s.
Alternatively, black cotton. (An odd phenomenon - all else being equal, black socks seem warmer to me than white ones. Has anybody else noticed this?)
Winter - merino wool. Golf, Gold toe no-shows. The rest of the time, no socks with boat shoes or flip flops.
Why isn’t crew sock on this list?
Naked feet
3/4 are my favorites. work w tennis shoes and boots. those are taller than ankle, right?
